Hello! Dionne! Beautiful lady inside & out! Thank you so much for sharing so generously! I haven’t been able to watch in a very long time , taking care of a dear friend in need. I love you & God’s Blessings upon you, Matt & your family! Hope to be able to get back to watching soon! 👍👋🥰❤️🙏🤗😘
I just discovered you and Debi and I adore what you talented ladies create. I also appreciate the fact that you both generously show all of us how we can recreate your finishes. It is incredibly generous to share your knowledge. I’m very late to the RUclips party so I get to look forward to binge watching all of your tutorials and all of Debi’s as well. I gave up watching any TV or movies 2.5 years ago because everything was feeling so negative and dark and I just didn’t want it in my home. Until recently I had only used RUclips occasionally for help with “how to” kind of stuff for around the house repairs. I discovered that I like the ability to select the people whose energy and vibe I like and learn some new creative techniques to beautify my home or rescue a piece of furniture for a friend. You are both lovely positive teachers and all that you do helps many people even more than you know. All the best for you and yours.
Pink, lime and orange is great also. I did a layered, distressed vanity with these three colors, hot pink being the top color. I like this technique better than sanding. Looks more naturally distressed.
Your technique takes the fear out of painting, and I always love the “non” thought process when it comes to color choice and placement. I found you when I watched the kacha pod cast, and totally enjoying your channel.❤️
Just pick 3-5 colors you love and start layering. If you're worried and need to practice techniques, go to a Habitat For Humanity (if you have one near you) or any resale shop and try to find something seriously cheap to practice on. Old cupboard doors are usually dirt cheap and great for practice. And like a painters canvas, can be used over and over. You can either layer more colors for fun or you can just strip it off very easily and try new techniques and colors. Just have fun!
YES! YES! YES! I am thrilled to have stumbled upon Debi's channel where I found you!!! I have a bunch of pieces that I have been holding out on painting because I really want to do something different! So much inspiration here! Thank you for sharing!!!!!!
Love, love, LOVE this video. Thank you sooooooo much!!! Also, I live in Tulsa (so close to the magic 😁😁💖) Glad to discover you and I make monthly runs to River City for DIY supplies, which I’m told is your satellite store. Super cool. Thank you so much again for sharing. Your tutorials truly help me make $$$ on my own creative projects. 💖💖💖💖👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I love this. I am currently working on transforming an old dresser that was being tossed. It’s quite a gem. Water Hmmmm thank you…….I will give it a try. What are your thoughts on stain??
Hi Dionne I love the colors on this piece! You mentioned you had done a door before and posted it on Pinterest. I want to do a door in these colors but can't locate your Pinterest picture of it. Can you either repost it or let me know where I can find it?
I've used water to achieve different effects for a couple years. I just make sure that its sealed. I would like to to try this paint love the high pigment
Hi, I love your work. I have this vntage farm table I want to paint using this technique. But I want to use only two colors. One is charcoal and the other is mustard yellow. I wanted to do this with chalk paint that I have already at my house. Question: Will this method work using chalk paint?
I love it! So I tried it on a white chalk painted dresser and it turned out great so on to applying a dark wax. What the heck just happened???? Never used wax before but I was thinking it should be thick and not runny like paint. But instead of doing the smart thing and just do a small area I went ahead willy nilly. The wax dried on contact so there was no manipulating it. Probably the main problem was I used Waverlys Dark wax. So, do I reapply the chalk paint and start semi over?
No, thank YOU! For sharing all your awesomeness with us. I have problems with being free in my art. Everything is too neat. You inspire me to just let go and be adventurous. I have a form of autism called aspbergers and it can be really hard to do things in any other way than how im used to. So i try to break out of it by doing arts and crafts. Your video had me up and ready to go with a project im currently working on and It's scary but exhilarating. Thanks for teaching me how to color outside the lines 💗
I have a question ... not having access to the DIY Debi's Design Diary product, could I use a dark wax instead of the Dark and Decrepit to age the furniture? Thank you for your Video ! :)
colours are limited in chalk paint no vibrant or strong pigmentated here in New Zealand... And not able to purchase diy paints from USA or Canada....no shipment world wide...any suggestions??
Or maybe i just haven't looked hard enough...what does keep coming up in N Z paints along the lines of chalk or clay based paints is spray cans of paint...
You can make your own. It is relatively inexpensive especially compared to most chalk paint. I painted an amazing chair with purples, blues, greens and every other color because it was my practice project. Somebody stole it off my porch. I hope they like it, punks. Anyway, I made the chalk paint with calcium bentonite clay, regular acrylic craft paint that is less than 2 bucks federal reserve notes and some water. I have heard of folks using plaster of Paris, sodium bicarbonate, zeolite, and other stuff to produce their own paint. It looks legit matte and covers very well. The spray bottle reactivates the paint to an extent you can blend, remove, change things up easily. So if you really like the way it looks but you know you are going to add more, just let it dry a little longer and sometimes you might need to put a wax coat over a layer you want to stay exactly where you have it. That is why these girls can show tutorials and not worry too much that folks are going to stop buying their pieces. It is lots of trial and error, tricks and techniques unique to each artist. There is not really a fool proof formula unless you take their classes for a fee and really go step by step. Making your own paint, experiment on old pieces or sample boards before you invest so much into something that takes practice like everything else. You can also make your own wax, get a clear wax and add any color you want but when applying start with the clear layer first so you can easily remove the colored one without messing with the base project. I would possibly use a polycrylic sealer before the wax. Every project is different. Good luck

I so loved when you used to layer, paint with a pallet knife and a rag like you did here.
I like that you don't need to sand to get these results! Just lovely!

Where can I get diy paint?
To die for!
WOW, CRAZY L❤️VE this!
It's so interesting, because even at 9:36, it could have been a finished piece. Of course, not to match the side you were teaching, but wow.

😍😇🌷. Eres fantástica !!
Neic wark .Lavely.
I only distress with water, it looks a lot more natural than sandpaper. You're not going to touch furniture over time with sandpaper on your hands...
😍
I’m here because of Debi
Gary Teague thank you!!
In 2024 you can achieve the same look with a lot less paint and work.
💓💗💞
I'm not a fan of new either! Or straight lines! Nope not for me! Or white everything!
