I'm German and those vocalists just pronounced it absolut perfect. Huge respect for that
Let's not exaggerate, it's obviously not perfect, but on a very high level
Perfekt nicht.

Enjoying this video now in 2022 and reading the comments I have nothing more to add except to say that I am grateful that this wonderful performance is still available for us to enjoy nine years afterwards and hopefully into the future. It is especially encouraging that the best European classical music has captured the hearts and minds of people everywhere.
European isnt the classification that matters here, this wouldn't have ever happened without Christianity. The best artwork of every genre is only achievable though Christ.
I realize how cringe this may sound to some, but it's actually true if you have the ability to be honest, and a soul that's not degenerated enough to still see it.
@@Alex-uy7pc Whereas I can appreciate the connection between this beautiful music and the prayerful lyrics, nevertheless the music was written by a European, and so to classify it as European music is valid. Incidentally, Wagner himself was atheist and also anti-Jewish, so his personal connection with the religious theme here is problematic to say the least. There is an enormous amount of beautiful music with absolutely no connection with religious thought, so your view is quite subjective.
@@williamstringer6519 I have to agree with Mr. Alex. Wagner may not have been a Catholic churchgoer, but he comes from a Christian upbringing and society, he comes from the heartland of the Christian West. This is also shown by the text, which is about the pilgrimage to the eternal, spiritual homeland in accordance with God, and that was understood in the Christian Occident to Jesus Christ.
As an adult, many become atheists in the meantime, including Richard Wagner, because the church, when things are going well, only gives spiritual nourishment from its mother's milk. However, his music shows that he must have been given heavenly fare.
@@hermannblock4597 Of course to add to the mix, most of Wagner's operas were based on a search for the sacred through tales involving ancient Germanic gods, so although his works have strong spiritual themes, they were not exclusively Christian.
@@williamstringer6519 I agree with you unreservedly. It was and is unfortunately the case that the Christian doctrine of love was only imparted to a small extent by the official churches and therefore Wagner and many other people sought their salvation in the old Germanic gods. As a result, he had little luck in his worldly affairs
私も学生時代にこの曲に挑戦したことがあります。パート練習の時は音程をとるのが難しく苦労しましたが、4パートが揃った時には曲のイメージもつかめるようになり、オケと共演した時には鳥肌がたつほど感動したことを憶えています。
The mind boggles. How can anybody criticise this masterful performance. Was divine. Thank you wolf sherwood durban
Can we just for a moment appreciate the whole hearted and sincere emotion that this conductor put into this inspired and spirited performance.
paldies bet ne
I loved his energy and enthusiasm.
Was soll das heißen? Antisemitisch?
I agree 100%. I really admire the enthusiasm of this young conductor. Bravo for him!
Thank you for pointing this out. This conductor's work is so heartfelt and inspiring.
Perhaps the most stirring combination of voice and orchestral music ever written.
I agree! I would rank the "Entry of the Guests" a close second.
逐漸堆砌沉緩的張力,最終化為火爆的激動❣️
Yes, very Wagnerian.
Wow, the lightness of the younger voices and the slightly faster tempo gave a new and unsuspected brightness and vigor to this piece! Very different from the regular slow, heavy and even morose renditions. Bravo!
This piece of music has inspired me to get things sorted. The power of the singers and orchestra fires me up. I draw strength from the pilgrims chorus from Tannhauser. Thanks fellow people of all the earth.
Very powerful and strong version! It seems like the more voices with Wagner the better. Great performance. Many voices sounding as one.
All versions of the Tannhauser Pilgrim’s Chorus are so emotional. Bravo to the Ponte Singers.
Dieser Chor ist der Hammer, richtig gut gesungen. BRAVO👏👏👏👏🫶🫶🫶🫶🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵
Beautiful performance, and especially moving knowing that it was performed by a once Free Hong Kong.
All the beauty and soul of any performance I have seen of the Pilgrims Chorus! (and I have listened to many) Bless you for your hardworking efforts to accomplish this and us German souls appreciate your accomplishment in this greatly!!!
Excellence as ever from a wonderful group of very hardworking and talented people. Yes Richard W would have been very proud of this performance
Thank you very much for your appreciation!
i hate bananas
Goosebumps and tears. Thank you.
yes, i know, its so bad...
I'm repeating myself but does this conductor realize how special he is? His conducting style is unique, heartfelt, and inspiring.
A Chinese orchestra and choir doing Wagner...I think this is wonderful. It may not be Theilemann, but so what? The Maestro, musicians and singers obviously are putting there all into it, and the audience is appreciative. I Like It!
They are Hongkongers, not mainland Chinese. They are different people. But they sang very very well! Especially in German
John Graham watch out for your cat
Watch out for the typical white supremacists to start complaining about Chinese people.
The Chinese gave us inspirational poems by Li Po. Currency as we know it today . As a mark of respct. I say thank you. Warning any rightwing comments on this posting or who should be playing or preforming Wagner will be passed on to the police. Sorry Matteo I am not referring to you. Respect.
@@SiameseCats4ever You don't have to be white to complain about the Chinese, ask the Hong Kong singers in this video or any of the other Asian countries in the area lol
I love this chorus so much - and not because my name is Wagner. I love a song that builds and builds. I get chills when it crescendos. Not the best version I have ever heard but still gorgeous.
Cual es esa "mejor versión" que haz escuchado?
Breathtaking performance of a magnificent composition of music. I have sung the Pilgrim’s chorus and hearing this once again moves my soul.❤️
Wonderful! It reminds me of Mark Twain's words: "Presently that noble chorus of men's voices was heard approaching, and from that moment until the closing of the curtain it was music, just music-music to make one drunk with pleasure, music to make one take scrip and staff and beg his way round the globe to hear it."
I must have been here for at least hundred times. Amazing performance. Amazing dedicated conductor. I'l be back.
I was back again 😀
WONDERFUL ! WHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR ALL OF THESE YOUNG PEOPLE !
MAY GOD'S BLESSINGS BE ON ALL !
Respekt! Chinesen interpretieren eine deutsche Komposition! Und das auf hohem Niveau!
Hongkongers, Mainland or not, who cares. they are MUSICIANS! young ones and great on top of it!
There are no young people here, here there are Chinese people who look young even when they are old
@@ivanberrio7000 when is young young or old old?
@@benediktmorak4409 Hi. I actually mean that each person in the choir can be much older than they appear.
Celebrate and be grateful that Wagner's glorious music is so well performed and embraced by
a completely different culture. It sounds excellent. I know German a bit and this is very good. I admire the
artists for crossing the cultural barrier so intrepidly.. Bravo.
What is so good about Wagner?
I am ignorant.
Cultural appropriation is NEVER ok. This work should only be performed by those with German blood. This video is an insult to German people.
Considering all Chinese schools of music study western classical tradition and have been for a century AT LEAST, this is not surprising. At all. or a barrier breaking. or anything.
Mike Reed very very sad
@@mikereed9963 Guys like you, who post such a disgusting insult to our culture are almost NEVER german in any way. You just post it: You would never, ever dare to say that in a public space
Very beautiful and moving. Well done by all involved
Un sincero incoraggiamento a questi giovani che hanno voluto cimentarsi con un brano così impegnativo
Wonderful singing
no
magnificent performance ! i can't hold back my tears when i listen to them !
Ditto.
When every component works in harmony and produces something stupendously special. One of my most favorite pieces for many years and then I hear this ....... Bravo, Bravo. 2024
Nothing tears at my souls more than some of Wagner's great choral works
So very wonderfully well done! Finally the timpani's are given the full voice they deserve...again well done.
Superb performance and presentation in EVERY way. Thank you. I wouldn't have, perhaps, even encountered this piece but for the fact that our Prime Minister Cameron was humming it when he walked back into number 10 Downing Street, London from his lectern, following his resignation!👍

Oh, for heavens sake Timothy, can't you they are very young. And german's probably not their motherlanguage.
Great singing boys and girls. Love it. :)
Yes, great!

That performance moved me. Absolutely magnificent!
That just stands the hairs on the back of my neck. Bravo.
Que tremenda interpretación. Al comenzar a escucharlos lo hice sin verlos y noté algo extraño en el acento! ... al verlos entendí. Soberbios ellos, muy emocionante.

Very moving performance. Well done!
Thank you for this beautiful interpretation
Resplendent in talent and performance quality! Wagnerian suspension is spot on! Bravo!
just wonderful !!!
The best of the best!
I saw a beautiful production of The Flying Dutchman in Tokyo in 2007, and to be honest, it was the best performance of this opera I had ever seen. The German was practically perfect!
I'm in love with classical music.
Search for Klaus Tennstedts Tannhäuser Ouvertüre, its quite impressive :)
Romantic music in this case
Stupendous! Thank you to all involved.
Superb performance ❤
I do so love this piece of music.

With joy, my home, I now behold thee,
and gladly greet thy smiling meadows;
now I lay down my pilgrim's staff,
for, submissive to God, I have made my pilgrimage.
By atonement and repentance I have made my peace
with the Lord, to whom my heart bows down,
who has crowned my remorse with blessing,
the Lord to whom I raise my song.
The grace of salvation is granted to the penitent,
who shall enter into the peace of heaven!
Hell and death cannot affright him,
therefore will I praise God all the days of my life.
Halleluja for evermore!
