I DIY my subs and my opinion is as your’s, the value proposition is high. I have a couple 8” down firing subwoofers with a 3 inch round port on the front baffles and they get down in the mid 20s in room and are very musical and cost $200 each to build. I love how they look. Thank you for this content, excellent review
I put a couple of sub. amps. to work recently when friends decided to toss out failed powered subs. I clipped the power cords on the bad subs. (making them passive) and now run them with better power and control via the subwoofer amps. It does seem like plate amps fail frequently on budget units. I use a Dayton 100W with parametric into an 8'' compact, and a Monoprice 400W with DSP into a 12" cube...Good sounds!... At blue-collar prices.
Exactly! But I can see how someone who is not comfortable with electricity ⚡ might be hesitant . But yeah, the value is there, I guess like with all things DIY. I'm building a pergola over my side driveway and a contractor quoted me $4000. I'm picking up materials for $600 and building it myself next weekend.
Lol. I suppose it depends on the application. On an 88db driver rated at 150w rms, that's over 110db @ I meter. For sure not a car SPL amp, or a home theater sub, but to fill in the bottom octave in a compact sub application it works very well in my space. As for the wired remote, same as you would have in a car amp. And more that most amps give you. It's just an add on. You don't have to use it. But I totally get your point. Some people want/need more power. There are some nice plate amps on parts express that I might try later. Thanks for watching 👍
Douk has really step up their game on build quality & design. Cool unit. Great video, Thank you my friend.
Yeah, Ed. Sad to see this one go. Thanks for watching 🙏

115w into 4 ohms is hardly a subwoofer amp. And a wired remote, the lols.
