Just figured I would add two things I have found to the conversation: 1. Strix and Evelyn have gained the Aquasitions Incorperated tag in addition to their waffel crew one, but Paultin did not. 2. When gaining stacks for Jim's Magical Mystery Tour Nixie is very helpful due to her wild magic surge. She may not always be the best combination with jim, but it has helped my seasonal grind. Thanks again for another wonderful video Tyredack and have fun with Starfield!
I thought that was interesting as well that Paultin got left out, not entirely sure why that is. Unless we're going to see something more from him in the future. Maybe a Season with some combo of Rosie/Donaar/K'thriss/Walnut/Paultin/Morgaen. Very true! Nixie would be another great way to stack it up. Pity her buffing options are so limited, but still worth for the Seasonal grind.
They juggled benches well in allowing all of Acquisitions Incorporated, C Team, and Wafflecrew to be in a party at the same time. FYI, Evelyn is pronounced with a long "E" at the beginning, making her ship with Omin (EvelOmen) sound like "evil omen."
Omins changes are really interesting and good. Being able to stack money drop infinitely will surely come quite in handy when trying to reach new milestones. What I kinda disliked about the season is how they treated Morgaen. From what I can tell, she was pretty much left untouched. She is good as she is at the moment, but I would have really wished for some further buffs or new mechanics. Also she still doesn't have any skins. As always thanks for your efforts and your insight on the update.
Yeah, Morgaen is one of those that is going to eventually get pushed further down just because of the new higher power creep ceiling that's arising from all the current Season/Champ releases. She's not bad, but she's not touching that new height.
Super clear and useful as always, and I really needed this one, as I've taken a few days off from the game (okay more like a week ^^) and coming back I find it's Season 5 already (plus I've missed out on most of the latest Emergence, but oh well, RL first). Sounds like they made decent improvements to a bunch of mostly niche or even irrelevant champs, although I'm also surprised and a bit disappointed they didn't rework Rosie. Thanks a bunch and have a hell of a time out there, Champion!
Well welcome back into the fray! With no gap between Season 4 and 5 it was a quick leap. It is a pity about Emergence for you, but at least you'll be able to catch up on the grindable gems before it's over, sucks about the dailies though. Rosie should be coming up in the future, but it's likely faaar down the line sadly.
IDK if Omin's buffs are worth replacing Dob or Freely in my Double Bond team, but I already love his change to gold find. It was tedious having to stare at the game waiting for his contractual obligations to pop; yes now I have to actively stack that up beforehand, but afterward I can just park a familiar on Azaka's ult and wish them goodbye and good luck for a while. I was gone for this game for a while because college classes started, and the death of Jimothy was a very unpleasant surprise to return to (that and losing the ability to buy retired champ chests with season currency by popping their time gates during their event). Your reasoning for why it was done makes sense, alongside the fact that the overall theme of these tweaks seems designed to make it easier to push to 2000 anyway, but I'm still sad. Strix's buff to Death Ward I can see being useful in click-debuff teams. A lot of times, especially in the later areas where enemies start chewing through your tanks, all you need is a bit more time to pop enough enemies to progress. I also wonder if it'd be worth swapping Talin for Donaar; yes Donaar is an inferior debuffer, but he'd buff the radius of Strix's own debuff and is the only one who could do so while still debuffing enemies himself. And IDK about Walnut but Rosie is so bad that it's a meme; I agree she should have been buffed as well.
Yeah, I think it's some great changes all around, other than the loss of Jimothy. Makes sense, but still sad. A good thought with Donaar, for sure, doesn't hurt that he's also a potential Chaotic Cleaver for Freely doesn't hurt too. Many have said they've stated they have intention to hard rework Rosie down the line, so we're likely to still see a C Team Season of some kind in the far future.
Dev Insights confirmed a Level Cap increase in the near to mid term. Game needs a level cap increase like a fish needs a bicycle, but anyway, it is happening. There were also two new achievements, for Omin and Vi (that one will ptobably not be earned by accident). Rosie was mentioned in the blog post of the updates, they want to completely rework her, which takes more time, and will happen at a nebulous time TBD. All seasons just blend into another, Very meh. Use the new over buffed champion; un-seasoned champions may as well not exist for the large part.
Good to hear I wasn't totally off base with assuming we're on the horizon of a level cap increase. I always tend to forget checking out the new achievements when I'm covering Seasonal changes, I need to work on that lol. It will be nice when Rosie finally gets a tuning up. It goes up and down for me. I still like having an event going on and having reward to work toward personally. If some of these Champions never got a rework they would just exist permanently on the bench and never see use, which I don't think is interesting either.
Starting this season directly after the last seems like a mistake, especially with new players in mind. it robs them of the time to concentrate on builduing up their whole rooster and finding their favourites, just to continue to play catch up seemingly indefinitively. I have little doubt decreases the overall enjoyment of the game for new players and will lead to more of them to quickly drop the game again if it continues like this. Not to mention, I have not seen a way to get remaining rewards of the previous season for those who might have had the last quests running in the background (not that I looked thouroughly, since it wasn't the case for me). As far as level caps go, I assume they will introduce more campaigns and patrons, in which case there's little choice but to increase the level cap eventually. but for now it certainly does seem superfluous.
I do think Season are also very helpful for newer players, though. They receive more Time Gate pieces and are able to unlock more Champions more quickly than they otherwise would. As well as having rewards to work toward right away. I do think there should be a 1-2 week break between Season, though.
@@tyredack as a new player who just started during the last season, I agree. The season is helping me get new champions and giving me something to work towards, but I still feel like there should have been a break. Especially since I feel like I HAVE TO spend at least a good portion of my time gate pieces on getting the season champions, which is a nice way to have players try new things but also means I have less time to try and make the best group for how I play. At least they discount those champions, oh man would it suck to spend the full 6 on champions I don't even know if I'll like but can't progress the season without Sorry that might have got a bit rambly
Counting all buffs and debuffs together Strix now gets to e20% support in either her affiliations or among Tieflings even without investments and with only minor haunted farming. Counting her equip upgrades in this event it may get above that on it's own. While even then she's still just no. 3 in her seat as a buffer, I'd rank her a clear S in a fitting party anyway. but otherwise she's more of a B tier to me, just because so many better alternatives in her tier. I mean as far as potential goes, If at some point there's more dd tiefling positional buffers then just her and Kent, she may become interesting for Artemis too. edit: As far as Evelyin goes, getting to area 1200 is still easy and at that point she's quite the good buffer. I just wish she had some damage negation to become sole tank worthy.
Yeah others have said they've noted Rosie will see changes in the future, but that future is far down the line. Will probably be a Season in a few Seasons down the road with some mix of Rosie/Donaar/K'thriss/Walnut/Morgaen/Paultin
thank you for the overview as always. Yeah, they'll get touched on eventually, I feel like this was a good time for it. But, we'll just have to wait. I agree in that this time around is the least interesting Season Pass reward system they've had to date, but as long as they keep trying and keep listening to feedback, I don't mind them finding what works best. And thanks! Been eager to see the fruits of the Starfield Team's labors. You have fun nerding out too.
Personally I like the idea of fixed normal rewards but being able to freely chose bonus rewards. I at least like it better than the last season with no freedom whatsoever. That being said I do miss the opportunity to just skip certain main rewards (like +25 item levels you'll get eventually anyway) to faster go to the bonus rewards of choice that are preferable for the current needs of the player. The earliest seasons were the best as far as rewards go in that regard (I also would have used this freedom to skip any Artemis stuff aside the outfit in Protest).
It's been a while since I watched the AI D&D games, but I really think Binwin should be part of the affiliation and they should add Viari with chandeliers and apocalypse dagger effects at some point. Anyway, only sad part is that Strix share a seat with Strongheart, so she can't be when he's speeding up season quest progress. Thanks again for the reviews, always great! Maybe some formation quick-reviews (Artemis/Krond/Asharra/Zorbu) at some point, after so many canges in the game? Cheers!
A quick note with Strongheart, because of that very reason they've allowed his Seasonal progress to be active as long as he is in any party. So, if you have extra parties just throw him in a background party and you'll still progress Seasonal quests faster on your main. And while I'm largely unfamiliar with AI's D&D, I would not complain for Binwin getting some love.
@@tyredack oh wow, that's a very good thing to know. Guess I'll make him buddy up with Nordom in a forgotten party somewhere. Hard to use alt parties when the feature seems to be not correctly working half the time
I'm not going to lie, some of these characters I've been using since day 1 (literally, in Strix's and Evelyn's case, and I've been using Omin a lot for months), and it's going to be so, so hard to relearn them. I might have to watch this video multiple times just to keep everything straight. But it does seem like everyone either remained about the same or became immeasurably better, so it's a win all around. I kept meaning to comment about this on last season's video but never got around to it; I don't know if last season just had easier quests or something else, but I'm pretty sure I was done the base rewards track like, a month into that season and I got to spend the rest of the season just farming the bonus rewards. I dunno why but that season was _so_ fucking easy, which is GREAT because that season had Artemis which meant I got to just farm his item levels, as well as a bunch of other champions I really love (I've got a special place in my heart for the Companions all around). Hopefully this season is just as smooth!
Well, at least in most of these Champion's cases they are largely used the same as far as their roles and where to slot them, they're just pumping better numbers. I do think last Season's quest were a bit easier for sure. This Season doesn't seem too bad, I think the biggest one that might give people trouble is gaining Jim's Magical Mystery Tour stacks, so might be a good idea to actively pair him with others that transform along with him (like Imoen, Vi, Nixie, etc.) as often as you can.
@@tyredack That's good to hear. I'll keep that in mind. Every season I always make a team of just whoever's in the current season, putting them in a relatively easy free play, and letting them loop over and over and over again. Most of the season quests are just "grind the characters in the season for a few weeks" so I come back every once in a while to reset the dailies to sync with what I'm doing and I generally tend to do well.
Currently Vi makes me sad. I thought she would be a consistent Melf/Tatyana (Melf being random every 50 areas and Tatyana locked to every 15 seconds). Instead she is a terrible speed champion. I sure hope they fix that.
Yeah, it's unfortunate. I was hoping with her getting a rework her speed would come out the other side in a more interesting/fun way, but alas. She can pump out some great buffing numbers though.
I think Omin was a top pick already anyway. One of only 2 Gold Find in Seat 3, while being the better of the two, and Lawful for those who have stuck with Freely as well. Only thing that might need tinkering is his positioning if people were also using Valentine and maximizing her A Life of Leisure.
@@tyredack In my setup before the season update Mehen was top gold pick in the slot. He provided more gold in Azaka formation and it was far more consistent so I didn't have to wait for a gold burst moment. I like that they removed this feature.
I think you might be under-rating Jim here a bit, specifically because of how his pre-stack scales with items. Lots of people are reporting e40+ before Observance with Artemis without massive ilevels, and he beats out Birdsong/Antrius at similar investment
Fair, but I generally don't rate Champions simply on their usefulness to Artemis, more their overall use in broad general. Though, if he shines enough, I may well move him up at a later date!
I'm not sure what to think of the season. I don't think these champions are gonna help me much as a new player, except maybe to put more gold find dudes in my neglected background party. The stronger as you push further thing miiiight help but I'm not sure if it's worth subbing them into my main team, which is a janky Artemis formation
Well at least Jim is good for Artie and Strix isn't bad for him. Though coming off last season Catti is also good for Artie and shares a seat with Jim. Getting a gold farm up and running at your wall with Azaka can be a good goal to go for early on, and Omin offers a lot of gold find for that. Though setting up Azaka is certainly more annoying now without Jimothy, still doable though.
My main squad consisted of mostly magic with jim as dps and his magic buff was getting way better numbers than I'm seeing now don't like the alteration as of now could probably be different after I learn new Jim Oh well
Magic spec is for sure less than the previous iteration of it as a standard formation ability, but Fan Club's massive boost should more than make up for it. Especially now that it's pre-stack he will scale much better than he used to at the end of the day.
@@tyredack While that's true I think 1 of the magic feats costs gems and without specifically getting it as a specialization it's not even an ability now so it's useless there are other feats in the season that people can pay for to increase the new jims main boost but it feels shady having feats that are for something you're not going to use anymore to get you to pay money for the new feats what is good is he has a formational now veronika can get therefore boosting damage and gold chicken nerf big downside too though should be able to sell feats back when they make these alterations because now there's 2 feats that do nothing because I'm not getting that specialization as someone whose main dps was/is Jim it's really not cool that he is better but the investment into what was his main boost and his gimmick were both shot in the back of the head
The ones they updated were some of the most viable members of the affiliation, when there's a bunch of Acq Inc and C Team that really need the upgrades. Most annoying of all, the third founding member of Acq Inc, Binwin, is still unaffiliated, unplayably weak, and in the same slot as another Acq Inc champ... Well, maybe whenever we get a C Team season, that will get solved.
Yeah, it seems like there will be a Season dedicated specifically to the C Team at some point, as they've said they plan to look at Rosie, but it's probably a ways down the line. As far as Binwin, I can only hope he gets looked at, because he's been subpar for far too long.
I wish I had realized they were gonna give me Jim for free in an email, I had already opened his gate when I got it 😢oh well, at least he's better equipped than he was going to be
With that in mind, heads up for if you play on Steam they will be doing a free giveaway in a couple days (the 4th) that will unlock all of the current Season Champions as well as an early unlock for the next Champion, Astarian (who is coming on the 6th).
If you do decide to rework the overall list due to the recent changes and reworks, please don't forget to include a S++ Tier for Nova alone (and future champions who are S tier and have a Q outfit).
From what I've heard they've stated a full rework of Rosie is intended, but very much down the line. We'll probably get a Season in a couple seasons with some mix of Donaar/K'thriss/Rosie/Walnut/Morgaen/Paultin

Most of the season quests are just "grind the characters in the season for a few weeks" so I come back every once in a while to reset the dailies to sync with what I'm doing and I generally tend to do well.
Ah geez, no love for Binwin? I think he really needed it
One day we will have our full team of Dwarves and a rework of Binwin. One day.
RIP Jimothy
Will be missed. 💀
With the extreme potency for long gold farms imo Omin becomes top 1 S grade gold farming champion.
He is very strong, no doubt.
@@tyredackDo you think this will change many Azaka formations?
I think Omin was a top pick already anyway. One of only 2 Gold Find in Seat 3, while being the better of the two, and Lawful for those who have stuck with Freely as well. Only thing that might need tinkering is his positioning if people were also using Valentine and maximizing her A Life of Leisure.
@@tyredack In my setup before the season update Mehen was top gold pick in the slot. He provided more gold in Azaka formation and it was far more consistent so I didn't have to wait for a gold burst moment. I like that they removed this feature.
@@sejmnazywoPL That's fair. Omin did have his own tedious mini game of waiting for that window to be open. I'm glad he's changed as well!
Though setting up Azaka is certainly more annoying now without Jimothy, still doable though.
ty!

Heres to hoping they update the c team. Really want to use them but they are just the worst creation to date.
From what I've heard they've stated a full rework of Rosie is intended, but very much down the line. We'll probably get a Season in a couple seasons with some mix of Donaar/K'thriss/Rosie/Walnut/Morgaen/Paultin
