The change is a lack of finances. South Africa presents no work/jobs for people, however I'm a senior citizen and my children are living overseas. They cannot assist financially - plus I've been divorced for over ten years now - thus a huge struggle on my hands! Very difficult to try and remain calm in these circumstances; difficult to fall asleep at night. No one here in S.A. who can assist me so who do I turn to - to my ex-husband - def not! I don't get his honesty so why would I open up? What choices do I make I wonder. I approached my eldest child living overseas but they are also down grading their lifestyle - selling the car for a much cheaper one and so forth and also trying to work from home. I feel trapped between a rock and a hard place and I'm entirely alone here in this country of South Africa whose economy is on the down spiral. Difficult choice to make if there is any choice for me to make at all!

She did exactly that, even told her husband she was moving out. You can delete this comment of course but if a woman is in an abusive relationship, please get advice leaving safely. When u r leaving, that is the most dangerous time.
OR you could just leave. Advice from a now grown adult who, as a child, watched her mom continue in a physically abusive relationship for years, always fake pretending to leave. She enjoyed the games she played with her ‘abuser’ too much to ever actually end the relationship. In the end, he got fed up with her mental games and he left her emotional abuse. If someone is serious about a change, they just do it.
