Reviewing the Roxon Flex. This is a fully modular and customizable multitool. The one I am showing is a prototype they sent me to show you and get feedback on. The production model will likely be more fine tuned and have more tools available. So far, the most requested options are to add more slots for longer tools, and to include a dedicated bit driver. I especially like the scalpel holder tool, and the cutting hook is one of the best I have tried. They have announced the price will be about $80. They are still finalizing the core set of tools it will come with it. Great idea. Would love a 1/4” bit driver, option for 4 longer tools, different blade shapes (wharncliffe for edc, clip or drop point for outdoors) and in better steel choices like 14c28n, 154cm or Elmax. Also a set of small tweezers under the scales would be great or make a tool version. Heres some tool ideas I'd like to see eventually, a pointier reamer/awl (victorinox style), a pry bar, sim tool, nail file and a t shank saw blade holder.

Second comment to say I apprciate your review and the effort put into them. Much more than just some table top unboxing that doesn't give me what I want to know. I've been a long time viewer for a reason, you give good info and present it well. Here's to another 12 years!
Brilliant. I've wanted to see Victorinox do customisable knives for so long - just specify the tools it would come built with. This from Roxon will be such a kick in the backside to them and Leatherman. At last I'll be able to have a multitool without a bottle opener, or a tin opener, or straight blade that doesn't come close to my EDC knife (although this one looks very good - I hope it's D2). I hope they will keep up their moves toward D2 and 4116 with the Flex. I'd like to see a small version as well, and even add this customisability to their scissors-based tools. And I hope they will sell all the tools individually, instead of grouping them as they've with done with their swappable blades (so you end up buying blades you never use and pay for three if you have to replace one that you damage). This could spark a whole third-party accessory industry.
Great, I would buy this. I see great potential for secondary market tools on Etsy. Roxon could also do this step themselves and accept CAD models by customers, allowing the community to vote on which tool will enter serial production. The possibilities are endless, since one tool could also fill multiple slots.
I am excited that these modular multitools are coming out. I didn't get the Goat multitool, but I was thinking about it. This seems to be a more finished product and I hope it works this good for the final product. I would like to make a Knifeless 1, so I can carry a knife of my choice with it. I am definitely happy to see different options for files. I could do without the spring pliers. Thanks for your input on this. Thanks for not quitting. 😀
Love the channel as usual. I totally agree about multi-tools. Sell them at the store I work at. Sell like ten different models all nearly the same. Pure and utter shenanigans.
It’s all available for pre order, but only in America, there is a quarter inch bit driver, it takes three slots though, but with the range of bits huge utility, the full size Phillips also can use the 4mm bit kit.
This is a home run, no question. The only thing I would hope for is, because this is 8+ oz and totally customizable, I would like to see one implement on each side removed. That would still give you 7 tools *of your choosing* in a slimmer and lighter more pocketable package.
What would be amazing is if the frame could be adjustable in width too, like key-organizer...thingies, by using different length bolts. Still, the potential of this is great.
I have been looking for a decently priced multitool for a long time, especially since i am paying in Canadian pesos and the conversion can be brutal. I just added their phantom tool to my wish list (through your link). Thanks for making me discover this brand, I will be on the lookout for the model you present in this video also.
The project looks awesome 😳👍🥇, super smart and with more reliable back locks (best lock on the market). Just evolve it with a generation 2 that can install 4 long accessories simultaneously. I hope also it will have better steels and higher HRCs then previous roxons (like 10cr15mov at 58 HRC for blades). Keep it evolving.
Roxon are very innovative. I've wanted the one with the different blades for ages. I'm sure 3rd parties will bring out all different tools for it as well. Be nice if they release a blade in a high quality steel
Wow, what a brilliant idea,, it'll be interesting to see if Leatherman monitor their sales when it goes into production, or they may just leap into putting out something similar straight away,, well done Roxon,, 👍,, All the best my friend,, 😊
I liked your vid but I have to say the GOAT is the only fully customizable multitool inside and out. They offer different scales or no extra scales or download and make your own scales. The goat is new and has a couple minor issues but it was made by a regular guy like us not an already well established multitool manufacturer that saw an idea and thought it was good. Roxon does seem to make good tools but I don’t care for it’s appearance. Like you said about the support thing; I have to support the little guy. I’ll stick with my goat. Still good review tho. :)
I definitely want a GOAT, I think they need to market it more aggressively, they need to put some on Amazon and send some out to the mega channels, Survival Lilly, Wranglerstar, do the whole conquer all social media thing without mercy.
The GOAT has a one-hand accessible knife and a deep carry clip. Roxon can introduce those features, however the mechanism itself is enclosed (rather than open like the GOAT). If you work in dirty conditions, there’s no way to clean the grit out of the mechanism on the Roxon. Whereas for the GOAT this is no problem at all.
My preference would be to have at least 4 long implement slots. Roxon has confirmed a 1/4" bit driver, which I'm a fan of. I like Leatherman's combo can/bottle opener. I'd like Roxon to offer the same so that two tool slots aren't taken up to have both tools.
Looks a good option for a bladeless multitool too - especially for those of us here in the UK where we can't carry locking blades. I have a few good UK legal slipjoints like the Spyderco Urban, Manly Wasp, Bokerplus Atlas and so on which honestly are better than the knives on multitools anyway and they would pair up well with one of these but preferably with more than 2 long tools so I could carry scissors, file and woodsaw on the Roxon. With a 1/4 in bit driver it would be perfect.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives If I'm in the woods I tend to have a Mora too but also a SAK whether a 93mm alox Farmer or the Soldier 08 for the woodsaw amongst other things. If I take a multitool it's in my rucksack rather than on me. In an urban setting I've mostly been carrying a SAK with scissors and other useful tools, with either a Knipex Cobra XS or LM Squirt in my pocket, or LM Bond in my bag if I'm carrying one. Just because the tools like scissors etc. are easy to access and quick to deploy. But I have half a dozen or so nice UK legal folders which I haven't been carrying much as the SAK provides more utility, so I'd like a multitool like this to give them a new lease of life.
I actually wish they do various models based on the platform. Also combine this with the other platform (phantom and fantasy) they have. Here is what I thought. They can make the tools with different main heads. I mean branch cutters, shears, slip joint pliers, wire stripping pliers etc. Also their philips supports their 4mm bit kit. The thing is such implement might take 3 slots instaed of 2 although I think SOG's driver might be 4mm thick so that can work, a proper bit driver will take 3 - 4 mini tool slots. So yeah a socket driver slot might be the best. Mostly if 4mm thick, it will hold the socket through the diagonal and with a magnetic 1/4" square to 1/4" hex you might get the best ability to drive screws and nuts Although second what I heard the price point is 80$ but roxon is using better steels so. That can be understandable. Besides there is a modular tool who came first, which is the GOAT multitool. There is a lot of concepts. But I would love to see other tools using phantom blades while using flex blades too. And lastly knife based tools and possibly other formats using the system. So yeah I expect them to come with more tools but also multitool platforms.
10/10 multi tool as is, even better if they get the full bitdriver I've wanted a modular multitool for YEARS, this is fantastic! Now of course, the tools aren't top tier them selves. That reamer looks like its sub-par for the kind of stuff I like such as repairing fabric. The blade looks okay but not GREAT. The saw doesn't look as good as a victorinox saw would perform. But still, MODULARITY! Being modular makes up for so much!
7:35 on the bottom, the 4th tool looks like it's the bit driver. Looks just like the Leatherman bit driver. Not 1/4" like most tools, but a flattened hex bit. The 3rd tool looks like possibly a tool for doing "set" on a saw
I've been looking for a good multi-tool for a while and nearly got a different Roxon, i think i'll wait for this being released. Hopefully it stays as close to this as possible.
Oh wow Very capable MT. I totally forgot about Roxon since there barely was any information or sellers with their modular tools (they got knives with changeable blades as well) I might have to get one of these if they start selling here in EU. Have you seen the 'GOAT Multitool'? I checked your channel and couldnt find any videos about it : )
I always thought something like this would be amazing, but never thought a company would go through with designing it. Props to Roxon for the design and implementation. This should put Leatherman on notice. I'm more likely to buy this at $100 than that fancy but extremely overpriced Arc leatherman just released.
Thank You for showing this tool. You spoke out some good thoughts. When you talk about the price, 300 Euro for a Multitool is far to high, 600 is utopic, even in Germany or Switzerland. A tool should support you, not make you a poor man/woman. It‘s a tool! (And a toy;) I don‘t care about supersteels, I am looking for less weight and stability. 40-50 Euro would be ok for it, 3-5 Euro for every extra tool should be ok. If you really need it… Why is the can opener, hook and screwdriver so long??? The scalpel is cool! Thank you and take care. Best regards from the Bavarian Forest - Bernhard
So will all these tools come with the initial purchase, or will you have to pay extra like GOAT multitools? Or will you have the option to select the eight tools you want with the initial purchase? Also, do tools have any play when they are locked open?
I think the website will let people choose, but if they sell them in stores or on Amazon, they will come with a core set. The tools have a little play if using the first lock, but engaging the secondary lock eliminates most of it.
Looks very interesting. So would this be configurable for a left hand? As a lefty it'd be great to finally have a main blade i can deploy with my dominant left hand.
Hello can anyone tell me there much wobble / movement from the tools when locked...obviously I know there has to be a bit due to the nature of the removable tools....appreciate the help guys.... 👍🏻
Okay, so I've carried a surge for like 10 I would happily dump that platform if they had four long tool slots. I need a saw I need a file I need a Long Blade and I need scissors everything else I can work with.
And then it should be at least 2 different thicknesses one thinner for 2+2 and a thinner pliers and one thicker for 6+6 for SHTF carry, with a parallel pliers with locking.
Hello, first of all great video with field tests👏👍💯 but I think you aware about the GOAT. The GOAT came first, Roxon just copy the plateform idea. I am 100% agree with the hype generated around if a big brand MT was doing it. People allready buying overpriced ARC with all of QC issues😂. So a leatherman Flex would cost 400 or 600 euros at least🤪 ( The ARC is selling at 300€ here). I still dreaming about an online website for the Victorinox SAK that allow us to choose wich tool we want according the platform length of the SAK. I think they will never do it as their business model is to sort a new one with just only a new tool or often only new scale colors and sometimes you buy it just for one tool even if you hate all the others😂. They took years to put a f... one hand ergo to their swisstool😅. I just hope Roxon and others be able to wake/ shake up LT and Vic from their no innovative sleep. Voilà. Just my thought. Thanks for reading.
It doesn't matter if GOAT came first, because literally everyone who is into multitools already thought of this same idea for the last 30 years at least, so I don't think Roxon "copied" GOAT's idea.
I'm a huge Leatherman fan, I can see the appeal behind this and may purchase one in the future, but I have to say I'm loving the GOAT multitool. Mr. Micheal O' Donnell was in the Navy for fifteen years and is an engineer. I love that he was in the service and like Mr. Tim Leatherman it took him eight years from concept, development and into the hands of the consumers. I think GOAT has a great tool for its first iteration and I'm proud to be part of that. I was two years shy of being born when the original Pocket Survival Tool was released.
@@simonh6371 yes, they are really sharks for less quality in my opinion, I have bought about 14 years ago my first multitool and have looked in a shop over different Leatherman tools and desided to buy a Gerber(40£) becourse the quality was much much better, the Leatherman was with sharp corners and wobbly on all different versions in the shop and that's a no go for me and it doesn't have improved in my opinion in the years beside the extrem overpriced price tags.

Good video as always. I was looking into this one, as I can never find the right combination on usable tools on a multi-tool.
Add in the ability of one handed open (like the free p4) and im all over it
I've been looking for a good multi-tool for a while and nearly got a different Roxon, i think i'll wait for this being released. Hopefully it stays as close to this as possible.
Finally, and it looks good.
Oh wow
Very capable MT.
I totally forgot about Roxon since there barely was any information or sellers with their modular tools (they got knives with changeable blades as well)
I might have to get one of these if they start selling here in EU.
Have you seen the 'GOAT Multitool'?
I checked your channel and couldnt find any videos about it : )
Great video, I am defo going to get one. Peace from Scotland
Looks good. Handles look a little slippery. Love the customization possibilities. Thanks again for the great reviews.
Can't wait for them to start selling this
I always thought something like this would be amazing, but never thought a company would go through with designing it. Props to Roxon for the design and implementation. This should put Leatherman on notice. I'm more likely to buy this at $100 than that fancy but extremely overpriced Arc leatherman just released.
I will buy it just because its cool. I dont even need it
4 long tool slots would be even more awesome.... like a guy below said. Either way, this thing is going to be sweet. I will get one for sure.
Comment to help support the channel. Looks decent. Four spots for large tools would make it or break it for me. File has to be excellent.
Thanks for your support!
If Roxon could make this tool with 4 long tool slots, would be the perfect multitool. Even better than any Leatherman.
I think Rocon is about to break the internet
Lock pick would be nice
Thank You for showing this tool. You spoke out some good thoughts.
When you talk about the price, 300 Euro for a Multitool is far to high, 600 is utopic, even in Germany or Switzerland. A tool should support you, not make you a poor man/woman. It‘s a tool! (And a toy;)
I don‘t care about supersteels, I am looking for less weight and stability. 40-50 Euro would be ok for it, 3-5 Euro for every extra tool should be ok. If you really need it…
Why is the can opener, hook and screwdriver so long???
The scalpel is cool!
Thank you and take care. Best regards from the Bavarian Forest - Bernhard
Excellent video sir!
Glad you liked it!
Great MT! I want this!
Would like to see a comparison of this vs the goat multitool. This looks better designed.
WHEN IS THIS COMING OUT???!!
I lost my Spirit X months ago and this is 100% going to be my next every day tool
They previewed it at Blade Show, I believe I remember hearing it is coming out this summer, maybe around June.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives I read on their website that preorders start this month. So hyped!
Freaking sweet!
I neeeeeed it!
Yo, was this done on a multitool Monday? Always enjoy your reviews. When i hear your voice i know it's gonna be a great review.
Thanks, brother! This was done on a "it finally stopped raining" weekend LOL.
"Call for Mr. Roxon Rocks"
what torx wrench size is needed to adjust/take apart the tool?
Looks very interesting.
So would this be configurable for a left hand?
As a lefty it'd be great to finally have a main blade i can deploy with my dominant left hand.
Hello can anyone tell me there much wobble / movement from the tools when locked...obviously I know there has to be a bit due to the nature of the removable tools....appreciate the help guys.... 👍🏻
Post more workout videos tough guy!
Those are hard to film, but I've got one in the works, mostly dips using the weight vest.
can't find the steel type on the spec page oddly enough, kinda hoping for a super steel option.
Me too, me too
2:13 Is the secondary lock made of plastic?
Dig it! I look forward to that.
Right on!
Okay, so I've carried a surge for like 10 I would happily dump that platform if they had four long tool slots. I need a saw I need a file I need a Long Blade and I need scissors everything else I can work with.
For sure, that is the first thing I would do if I was Roxon, 4 slots would be ideal.
And then it should be at least 2 different thicknesses one thinner for 2+2 and a thinner pliers and one thicker for 6+6 for SHTF carry, with a parallel pliers with locking.
I have been here for while. Free George Hemminger.
I remember him! He was a Filipino if I recall. Whatever happened to him?
@@WeAllJuggleKnives troll’s tried to enter the tiny house 🏡 he got scared closed the channel and was made to get a job
Will the final product also come with all the other tools included..?
I think it will come with a core set of the most common tools, with option to pick up more specialized ones.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives Would be awesome if they let You “build” Your own one when ordering so that You had exactly what You needed from the get go…🙂
Hello, first of all great video with field tests👏👍💯 but I think you aware about the GOAT.
Man that is nice, everything it can do and stuff. In your opinion, is it as heavy duty as the surge or no? Thanks in advance bro
No, it's not as rugged as a Surge or Supertool 300. There's always tradeoffs.
Nice
have you seen the GOAT TOOLS ? its a similar concept and is already on the market i believe
I like it!
Very cool, I wouldn't pay mir than 50£ for this multitool, because I would have to buy many extras to it and I hope they don't cost more than 5£ each.
Probably wouldn't cost much more than that. If it were Leatherman it would be £500 and £50 for each extra tool.
When is this released so I can throw them my money
I think they have pre-order on their site now.
Leatherman who?
Not markup but taxes. Our prices include taxes.
I do not come here to watch you juggle multitools, Knife Juggler .
😜😁
I bet when ya first start reading a joke comment, there's a split second where you think ...
"Not another one of these freaking weirdos"😂
I recognized your username, although I did think maybe he's drunk (it happens on here more than you might think, especially on weekends).
