  • In 2.679 (Electronics for Mechanical Systems II), MIT mechanical engineering students learn about electronic principles and how to apply them to create mechanical systems. Students imagine something they would like to build, then take a printed circuit board design through the stages of fabrication and assembly, until they're ready to incorporate it into their actual device.

I am a mechanical engineer from a 3rd world country and I learned to do this from youtube and internet. Don't feel down folks, in this era of free education you can be a master of absolutely anything you set your mind, heart and focus to, without even a degree!!!

    • @mrwind7556
      @mrwind7556 Месяц назад

@@superguitar6355 first off, there are channels of professors from top universities for each subject for example Mechanics of materials by Jeff Hanson, Machine Design by TheBom_PE. You can search further for each subject. But the much more important thing to do is that you have to set a goal and decide what subcategory do you want to choose in the mechanical engineering. Product design, Industrial engineering, Computational fluid dynamics, manufacturing, nuclear, automotive, mechatronics and robotics to name a few. I suggest you start studying each of them and take an intro on the main fields so that you can decide early on where to channel your focus. Make sure you factor in what the job market is like in your country or where do you intend to go and live and where your interests are. Once you figure this out, then you should find channels and content based on that skill. I am a product design engineer and 3d printing specialist so my go to channels are Product design online, maker's muse, Star rapid and many others. Then finally, based on your selected skill, start practicing on your software and tools like CAD and simulation tools. Do all this irrespective of what the university is teaching you. They are not gonna teach you based on your interests and caliber so fo what you gotta do to get an average grade because in the end, you are valued based on the work you can get done and how accurate it is. No one wants to know if you got an A in statics. But everyone wants to have accurate engineering done. I could go on for hours but I think this should be enough for now :D

Watching this Reminded me of the times when I was a passionate mech student a year ago , I was really into tech and tinkering from highschool years, after entering college i invested a lot of time and resources in acquiring the tools ,self-taught everything from CAD skills and 3D printing to coding and electronics , started building robots and projects in my bedroom workshop that i spent 4 years building, then made a small startup company specialized in additive manufacturing which was 'i can proudly say' the first of its kind to introduce this technology in my country and the future seemed really promising, then war in Sudan happened a year ago and suddenly i lost every chance of continuing my education and everything I was working to build so far, now I am refugee without a home in a foreign country watching this and seeing people of my age getting an opportunity that I will never get and doing the things I always wanted to do, this was really sad and hard to watch

That's a problem because you don't spend time actually LEARNING, but just looking at it. there are many way to remember, when you learn. ( Learn means understand+ remember).
Because you didn't really learned, just understood.
To be able to learn, you need to focus, and push your mind, and force to remember.
For example watch 10-20 minutes of a video, and try to remember what you saw.
Watch 10 minutes of a video and try to explain what happened, or what you just learned.
If you feed like you don't have a good grasp of what you just listened, then listen again.
Try to write things down, like what happened, how things work, and so on. The key core to remember is OUTPUT.
You cant just listen to a video and hope to remember for the rest of your life. Because in one week your brain would explode with so much information. You forget, because your brain things is not Important. Because you watch 50 videos a day on RUclips. ( Spending too much time on internet and doom scrolling also doesn't help ).
But like I said, is important to force your mind to remember.
Speak loud what you just saw in the last 10 minutes, try to explain it, and then write things down. You are gonna remember much much much better.
Also do the same for the whole section. So you are sure you remember the whole video or lecture or whatever.

An obvious thing you should have done by now is evaluating admission requirements, funding options, and program features such as thesis requirements and internship opportunities. Also build some projects or participate in contests to demonstrate your aptitude. You shouldn't worry about funding options and networking opportunities for now.

For anyone who feels intimidated by names like MIT, Harvard or Oxford - please know that you are capable of doing anything.
If your subconscious mind knows something or someone as out of reach, it makes an assumption even before you try to accomplish it. For example, “Of course they can do it, they are from MIT.”
They are not doing anything to you, it’s you who’s making the comparison.
If you can imagine it, you can actually build it.
This is why kids are limitless.
It’s us who creates all these limitations, barriers, divisions and ranks.
It’s great that many things are open source now, everyone has the opportunity to explore and learn.

    1. Whatever you build, it is gonna work the first day. You prolly going spend 2 weeks on troubleshooting a circuit.
    2. Don't be afraid that you gonna destroy components, it is part of the learning process.
    3. Ask Ask Ask questions, to the prof, classmate and google. Don' t be shy
    4. Always practice programming like C, C++ and python because those are used very much in hardware programming.
    5. Failure is not the end of the world , try again.

Get an Arduino Starter Kit - it's all in there, it seems complicated and difficult in the beginning, but once you start learning what is what, everything becomes easier = first time I was starting I didn't even know what a particle was or how an atom was built because my physics teacher sucked. And then I just started reading and applying what I read to something practical. You can learn yourself everything they teach there - if you're determined enough. Difference is you just don't get the paper saying you have done such and such in order to be employed by companies.

Man. It's thousands of years of so much stuff happening with so many people, to result in such great institutes that the US has. You can contribute to your country by little things first. But all developing countries have to change on the foundational levels first. I am from Ukraine, and our universities didn't evolve and didn't have huge transparent investments for decades. Any great university will become useless if conditions are not prepared for freedom and innovation to happen.

You dont have to pay and join to learn all these, you can learn anything on the internet, lots of resources are available. and most relevant companies hire based on skill anyway, so it doesnt matter if you learnt it in MIT or not. the only thing you need is an idea and go on and build it. if you have budget constraints, mould your idea to fit your budget and develop further when you have the skill or funding later.

🤔 Do they manufacture the PCB board itself? Or is it a standard blank PCB and they get to establish its entire logic system from scratch? I mean both are cool, but when you say "make a PCB," it determines the emoji I'd use in response to that.
    Haaa, that's neat either way.
