Mr.Carter thank you for your contribution to music, you not only a musician but also an example for another. I writing from Odessa and we love jazz. You inspire make music in our hard times. Thank you!
Hi Ron, wonderful playing. I played guitar for 20 years and had a bass that rarely got played for 10 years. I have always loved the sound of the upright bass for as long as I can remember. I have been watching Jaco Pastorius play for a while and and I finally decided to remove the frets from my bass. All I can say is that my musical journey has just began, and I am in love with the instrument now because I am "hearing" the instrument in an entirely new way. And it is changing my approach to the music. It is amazing. I haven't touched a six string guitar for weeks because I am totally consumed with the fretless bass. I am going to be listening to you a lot for inspiration, I like what you bring to the music. It makes me want to play when I hear you.
I had the privilege to hear the three of you in the Roman theater in Vienne, France, a few year ago. It's wonderful to now witness the intimacy of your rehearsal. So many thank!
To send me birthday wishes feel free to use the hashtag #happybirthdayroncarter at the end of all your messages … I will see them all and respond to all possible … This is the year I start going in reverse 😂
To be able to watch this happen is beyond AMAZING! I'm takin' notes...LOL and I am checking out your books for any of these tunes which you may have included in the Ron Carter Books!
I've had lots of time these last few years between Covid and rehabbing my back. I listen to all types of music - if the musicians are good, I like seeing how someone else faces a musical problem.
@@RonCarterBassist I’ve had MS for a number of years and have managed to get a good grip on my health. I’m playing a medium set of helicores now. I feel I’m getting a little older and am ready to move to a lighter string. When I was young I drank a certain amount, stayed up for a days at a time, and…it’s time to back down from thicker strings. I’m still playing mediums well but things like driving are starting to annoy me and affect my playing. I may drop down on my next string change. I see you playing with Russell on guitar. I played with him a bit here in Atlanta. It’s great to see you playing all over.
Whatever strings allow you to continue playing while maintaining your health is the best choice. Best of luck in your journey as a musician, Mr. Pooser.

Thanks Mr. morrow! Song books have them all....
ive always been curious, how much time do you spend listening to other peoples music, compared to spending time making music yourself?

I’ve never tried LaBella strings. They sound good, as the band sounds good, as y’all are gonna hurt somebody. Have fun.
LaBella is my preferred string brand. I like to use Professional JazzStrings set #7710T.
