    I’m a roadie myself, never understood the single speed. Give me gears! 😂 was thinking about getting a gravel bike, but now I kinda want a fat tire bike as winter is pretty much here.

    I have a SS KM, with tubeless 40’s, and drop bars. Love it!

      Sweet! I’m always thinking about some cow chipper bars with a V.O. Goose-neck stem. And then the new 11spd bar-end shifters. 😀👍

    Found your videos via suggested on my side bar for making knives. I actually stepped away from knife collecting and got into cycling all out but I do road and cyclocross. Go tubeless and never look back. The rotational weight of those large tubes really hurts especially with your fixed gear setup. Now on to catching up with more of your videos!

      Thanks so much! I think I need to make the jump to tubeless. I just need to settle on a tire I really like first 😆👍

    Always been a big fan of Surly Bikes (I've owned a 1x1, Troll, and KM or 2...a few of each actually, LOL), and rode primarily SS's for about the last decade I mtn biked (I don't ride anymore). Good stuff here :D

    Im about to buy a new KM and i really would like to have a 29+ option.
    Surly says that the rubber will touch the seatstay if you put on bigger than 2.5 tyre. How do yo make it fit?
    Do you have your dimention for rim and tyre?
    Ps love youre bike!

      Slide it back in the dropouts. Also all 3.0"s are not true 3.0s.

    I’m an old broken roadie as well...just can’t get my head around fixies...but if I had one I would drop a 13 on the rear and 52 on the front and make it a real challenge 😬 and you can get some speed to boot. I would recommend a dry silicone lube on your chain/rings for winter riding...the dirt and grit don’t collect on the hubs or gears...come summer go back to synthetic oil. Never had a problem with my work horse Marin Rocky Ridge with XT doing that. I can’t ever imagine taking my Chesini x-uno out in the winter...that’s Italian sacrilege! I love a good ride to clear the head. Good on you!

    I love SS too on my troll, I try going SS so many times, but am forced to get back to my 3x8 speed drive train for practical reasons....I live in the Himalayas, so it's always going down steep slopes which is ok, but then you gotta climb back up again and that's just not pratical here.....but yeah I love SS!

      I don't mind these videos and if he didn't upload this then there wouldn't be a video at all sense he's doing this and not making a knife.

    • @WasabiWei

      I was skeptical until riding a Pugsley with H-bars on it at a Surly demo ride. Despite being on snow-covered twisty singletrack I was surprised that I had plenty of control. The comfort and leverage felt fine, although I didn't leave the ground at all, so I still wonder how they perform in terms of levering the bike around in a hurry. They sure are comfortable, give space for gear & bar bags, and work well for 'normal' riding.

    get some hydraulic brakes they work so much better

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  6 лет назад

      I would if I didn’t ride in -30😆 They don’t work so good when it’s super cold. I actually want to upgrade to Avid BB7s. I liked those even more than any hydraulic brakes I’ve owned. 👍
