This helps tremendously. Just bought a SuperCrew yesterday and needed to figure out how to mount my FTM3200.

Nice video. I am debating on NMO mount on top of the roof of the cab or doing a mount similar to yours. Nice part about the roof is the 50W signal is partially obscured by the metal of the cab for RF exposure. The mounting of various radios inside the cab (want both 2m/70cm & HF) is what I am puzzling over also. I like the relay idea. I have also seen a device from Powerwerx to manage a local battery, charge it with solar inputs and shut off radio when below a certain level. Either way, I like the idea of auto shutoff after a period of time. Again, great video. I like how you explain your decisions as you go along. 73 de KI5HXM

Very clean!!! I have a 2010 f150 and I used a cell phone/ gps magnetic suction cup mount on my windshield. Used the head bracket that came with the radio to hold it on the mount. Hasn't fell of yet Haha. Love the ftm-400. I'm down in mt Carmel and have hit the noble repeater a couple of times. So I say it's got some good rang. 73s W9KTL

Thanks. I just dont like having stuff on the window. Yes both the 2m analog and 70cm fusion both have good coverage

@@ryankc9oza118 I don't blame you there but surprisingly the radio head has a small foot print on the dash.

Possible to get complete antenna model pn’s. What is antenna wire connecting to? I’ve got a 2013 Chevy Avalanche and this antenna setup seems like it will work great. TIA

Thanks for follow up. For the bracket did you just use the PL259 male connector when ordering the bracket and cable? Also, antenna connection in bottom of antenna. Provisions there (no detail in pic) or do I need an adaptor. Thanks again man.

@@ljavtech1479 I orginally used a nmo mount. But then switched to a pl style. I bought premade harness off Ebay.

Thanks! The mount for the antenna Is what I was interested in. I have a FTM-400XDR coming some week, month or year...I have an older Silverado that the link you gave me I was able to find my pickup model. What Jeep did you have a radio in before? I have a 2001 Cherokee I would like to get a radio in also.

Do you go through car washes with that setup? Do you remove the antenna? Has there been any issues?

I have antenna up on my roof now and cb antenna here. Check out my other videos. I dont go through auto washes much. But when I would, I'd unscrew the antenna and put a rain cap on and never had any issues. Thanks for watching
