- We don't often see old Washington and Madison this clean anymore. #cb #cbradio So while I have this one in my Office, I thought I would share it with you guys. Bone stock un molested and ONE OWNER.. How cool is that?
The customer wanted a nice "lolly pop" so I decided to let one go. I have way to many 104s, so I picked out a nice one that performs like new.

Amazing !!! What a gem 💎. Just came across your channel and fixin to smash the sub button . I have one of these in great cosmetic shape but it needs gone through and I bought it cheap knowing it had been hacked up . I’ll find someone to restore it eventually

This is the 2nd gen Uniden Washington. The 1st gens say "President" above the channel selector. Both versions are Nice Radios👍👍
If I remember correctly the President Version is an 858 PLL and the Uniden is a 8719 PLL . 8719 Board is the better of the two. IMHO. Thanks for watching....Cheers
@@390WagonMaster You are correct older version had the D858 chip which was easily modified for extra channels & I believe the early & later Madison's were also D858/8719👍👍
@@390WagonMaster I own a Mint 858 PLL unmolested and was in a box for 25 years etc. Just bought it on 11-2020. I have purchased the cd on the service manual. I have been talking Skip with the 858 PLL past 2 days etc. Always wanted one couldn't afford one back in the day but one can find them reasonably for sale compared to what they would fetch in today's dollars. exchange. Great show thanks for looking at this classic. 73s from Northern NY 202.

It would be nice if I manufacture like President would come out with a new version base station.
President still make some very nice radios but they do not offer anything in a base station format.
I believe there is still a very high demand for actual plug in the wall base stations. The Galaxy DX 2547 needs a little competition.
The dx 2547 looks nice but really suffers on adjacent channel rejection and drift on ssb is terrible. I have a president Washington here in mint unmolested condition that is superior to the dx 2547.
After only a few minutes it's stability on ssb is good for a cb radio.
The old original 148gtl and grant xl were good stable units on ssb too after a short warm up.

I saw there is a guy on eBay selling a Uniden Pro 640E base station.
He is calling it new in the box which it very well may be. But you just never know what could have been done to it? Most people that bought a new radio used it. Very few people buy them and store them away.

I have a Uniden Washington now that is very very nice, it took me buying 3 to find the perfect one in box, sold the other 2
I use a Kenwood SP-940 External Speaker, and the Filters work well
i got one i just took out of the box 1980 nothing done new sent it to 3 made to have matched to my big amp
Seems with its age a capacator change out would be a GOOD or wise thing to do. Got to be a few not so good ones in there. With so many chips around that widebands CBs today this could be a suspect to do that. With the suncycle about to open up worldwide for the next several years, having the ability to work folks from say New Zealand starting at 26.330 to the UK at just under 28 megs, this old rig has many hours of use left in it. The old 5/8 Archer antenna is still one of the better ones even if it has to have the coil at the bottom rewound to stand more than the 50 watts it might have taken when new. I sold hundreds of theses antennas during my decade running their stores!
Yes radio shack had good cb antennas back in the day. Wished I could find one of the .64 wavelength ground planes they sold.
I just bought one of these at a hamfest paid $50 everyone says it's a good sounding radio when I'm on the air I also use a D1 04

i got one still new in the box yes took it out a few days ago never been nothing done to it i got a cobra 142 i run power on like to no how to turn it to a watt so i can talk on it .if u look me up i run 1000 watts at a min in power
