Agree to everything you've mentioned. You are a style icon in the making. One of the things I have stopped wearing since maybe 2009/10 is low rise jeans and I always always always wore flats in my teens and early twenties. I still don't feel the need to wear high heels unless it's a party and I feel like wearing them for an hour or two max
Omg I have the same “issue” with my neck/traps lol. Every time I wear a shorter necklace I’m like, “Hi I’m a linebacker.” When I mention this people say I’m nuts. 🥴
It's true. Finding the right rise did really change the way my body looks. And also i understand you in the wide shoulder game (my body is like this so i tried to look for ways to not accentuate that part without making me feel bad about it) Amazing video Gemary 👏
I 100% agree with the shapewear suggestion! It prevents wedgies when you wear a dress and it’s honestly just more comfortable when you’re out and about!
Such a good point with too much accessories! If I wear some earings, even the smallest ones, and sunglasses, I won't wear any hair clips, bold lipstick (!) etc., because I feel like it looks like there's too much going on around my face. Also I barely reach for belts, cause I prefer simplicity and they make it too busy for me. Some people rock it tho.
Germary, this is the first video I've seen of yours and we have similar bodies and feelings about what works for our bodies! This all resonates. Glad I found your channel :)
Have you ever heard of the Kibbe body types? I think you are a "soft natural" and it's fascinating how your style has evolved to reflect very precisely the style recommendations for that body type. You have a very good eye.
Would you consider doing a video on how to make curly hair work with different outfits? I've never heard anyone talk about this, but I have really bushy hair and I've always struggled with it overpowering my outfits and making me look frumpy and disheveled 😭. I want to embrace my natural hair, but it tends to make sophisticated and sleek outfits look anything but.
I feel similarly. I have curly hair and have a hard time deciding how to style it when I wear more sophisticated outfits. I tend to wear a low bun on those occasions...paired with dainty earrings. It seems to helps the look come together.
The tips are so simple and so common but it's like people aren't that aware of them. Or they are aware of them but they don't see them as important. I'm glad I stumbled upon this video. I learned a lot. I already know most of the things you said but they're clearer now. Hopefully when I have enough money, I'd be able to take note of these tips thr next time I go shopping. You just earned a subscriber. Thanks!
I feel you on the linebacker shoulders + long torso combination. I do a lot of these style tips already (after MUCH trial and error). Instant subscribe!
I think at this point my maximum heel height is like 8-9 cm. They are imo the perfect mix of looking flattering and being comfortable. Also a slight platform at the front and closed shoes is better
Girl, your neck and shoulders are gorgeous. I know as women it can be hard to feel good about parts of us that aren't dainty, but you look like you work out. That's a good thing. You look sculpted and your curves and lines in that area are super pretty. It took me a while to like my back because it's pretty muscular, but luckily my boyfriend is super vocal about what he likes about me and I realized that it was all the things I was self conscious about: the muscles in my back, the soft parts of my thighs, my height, etc. The longer necklace did look better, but your neck and shoulders are amazing either way!
Since I found two pairs of jeans that fit me perfectly and got another taken in for the perfect fit, I feel way better in them. Just much more flattering to the hips and bum.
For real I’m soooo happy the chunky short heal is back in. There’s actually science behind the comfort of chunkier heels because they distribute your weight better. I can wear chunky healed 3-4 inch booties or heals all day, but the same height in a thin heal is so uncomfortable. Definitely worth the investment finding a good comfy heel instead of tying to look fancy in a stiletto but wanting to take them off seriously after only 1 hr lol
Another great video! It is about knowing your body and what suits you, and combining that with touches of your personality. I appreaciate those people that despite what is on trend always keep their own style and you can totally recognize them in the way they look.
You’re absolutely right about knowing what is the correct rise for your body type and fitting the largest part of your body. I look better in a mid rise and I go to the tailor to adjust the waist. Thank you for stating the obvious 😊
So true about wearing under garments! It really upgrades an outfit and helps the clothing flatter you all the more 💕 I bought my first like spanx slip dress and it’s changed my wardrobe forever 😂 I never realized the difference it would make
I think you should check out David Kibbe body types. It can explain why certain clothes fit you and some don't. Also very effective to correct style mistakes. Aly Art and Merriam Style are two channels I'll highly recommend for it.
YES wish i'd figured out earlier that low and mid-rise jeans don't suit me, and that just because a pair of jeans are objectively my size, and say 'high rise' on them doesn't mean they will hit me at the right place and i should just keep looking for another style of high-rise jeans that come up high enough to reach my waist also I FEEL YOU on the shoulder thing. I love deep v-necks because i feel like it draws the attention down and in and breaks up the horizontal line a bit and YES on the hairstyle thing, it needs to be considered. my biggest makeup tip/discovery ive made for myself recently was to do my eyebrows after my hairstyle and my eyelashes because i feel like if youve got dramatic lashes and you wear your hair away from your face (like a ponytail or with a headband) then you can get away with bolder brows and what you mightve thought looked wayyy too dark before doing your hair actually looks good.
Oh my goodness so loving that tip to do your hair after the outfit so that it looks good together no one anywhere I follow in fashion has ever mentioned that bravo 👏beautiful genius tip much love and appreciation ❤️💕
I really needed this video! I am also a tall women. I have a long torso small waist but thick thighs. I struggled with my lifestyle so long because I couldn't accept that my body is different than most girls. For example cuffed/croppe pants, low waist pants, etc. And I have to admit this video made me realise a lot of things about my style! I wear baggy clothes without purpose, I wear cropped vests that don't fit me,... so thank you!
This is so true. Getting a pair of jeans is easy. Getting well fitted pair of jeans is near to impossible. I also happened to have most “high waisted” jeans reaching under my actual waist and all sorts of “embracing” shapes jeans would still be too tight in my thighs. Unfortunately tailoring is not an option for me. I also tended to buy too big pants all the time and then once they stretch out a little it wouldn’t look good anymore. Now I choose stretchy material jeans, choose ones which has fitting me waist. I buy one size too small and wear it for a day at home. Then they fit me like a glove and I don’t need belt with it, which most of the time I hate..
God damn honestly I follow so many fashion you tubers and instagrammers and even actual designers but if I could have anybody’s wardrobe it would be yours hands down
I agree on shapewear it does up your style and make you look well put together. I have bought some snd helps with panty lines too for a more polished look
I am just now discovering the high rise... and girl, let me tell you they make a world of difference! I agree with you 100% I have a long torso as well and would always try to wear low rise... Now I am donating all my low rise jeans lol... Bc high rise compliments my shape so much better!
Ah I so relate to the high heels point. I'm short so always felt like tall heels were the only thing that would make me "sexier" but I would be a disaster walking into them. Now I get shorter heels and have learnt to be okay with it.
8:22 You should definitely try a cropped jacket in red or burgundy, it will compliment your waist and skin tone. The bigger jacket swallows your frame. 9:40 Also the high neck blouse really slims the neckline and looks super feminine, kudos! *Also my shoulders are pretty squared too, so I like wider necklines that show my clavicle for balance👍🏽*
Yes dude I have found that sizing up on the pants /Jeans and then taking it in at the waist wether its sending to the tailor, sewing it myself or just tightening the belt to winch is key to having all my pants look flattering
Yessss the hair thing! I have very big curly hair and chunky necklines make me look like I’m drowning in my hair because there’s no space for it to fall freely! Dressing for your body is so key and make an incredible difference!
The size one as well as buying things that look good on someone else are definitely some of my biggest problems with my style. I forget that the person and body type I wish I was is not at all reflective of the body type I actually am lol. Great video thank you!
Thank you for this video. I feel that nowadays when we choose new clothes we think that it's us that need to fit in them. But it's the opposite - the clothes should fit us and our bodies so we should experiment and pick pieces that we look and feel comfortable in, not blindly follow trends and sizes.
Your video was recommended to me. Great advice! I am a petite women and I am large breast so I can’t wear midrise or high rise. Low rise are a blessing. I have to create my waistline since I have a short torso. I am glad you mention buying different sizes from different brands I tend to do this. I subscribed to your channel!
Thanks great video- I’m relatively tall with long torso and legs, broad shoulders and a bigger neck and small chest - I think your videos are particularly helpful for my kind of body type!
I watch a lot of RUclips fashion videos and your the first one to mention playing around with different sizes. My mind set has always been to go for a certain size but that just doesn’t work all the time.
'i used to wear the same bra for everything' ok., i am feeling So Attacked right now,,,, seriously tho love this video sm from content to setting!! everything!!!! i have wide shoulders too and one thing i noticed is that when the fabric is not stitched straight at the shoulder but it comes from the neck in a diagonal line (it probs has a name idk if i made myself clear) i think it looks more balanced because it draws the eyes to my neck or my center you know what i mean???
I love wearing foor torture device that are not as torturous in order to function properly with all of the handles/gabinets/buses make for people over 5.2'
I also have a long torso and it was very difficult to find high waisted things back in the early 2000’s unless I went shopping in the thrift store. Luckily more brands make high waisted pants now and I can take my pick. I have noticed though, that the 90’s high waisted denim looks best on my body. Experiment, experiment!
I love this! Its been a while now since I start watching videos of style mistakes and tips, but not until now I have found someone who has a body shape and an style similar to mine! I love it
The necklace with the shoulders, sis, I can relate!!! I love chokers, but I don’t wear them the same anymore because my shoulders will look cray cray 😂

It's so helpful to get tips from someone with a similar body type so thank you!! PS you are beautiful and do not look like a linebacker at all!
I love this video! Super useful tips, some of which I’ve learned from years of doing it wrong, and new ones that I will definitely be using! I feel similarly. I have curly hair and have a hard time deciding how to style it when I wear more sophisticated outfits. I tend to wear a low bun on those occasions...paired with dainty earrings. It seems to helps the look come together.
Ahhh, your accent brings me back to the days I taught at a Cuban school in Miami...Love it xo
I feel like you’re my fashion professor 👩🏫, I’m taking notes and excited to apply these lessons!
😂🤍
"i look...like i'm a line backer" - omg Gemary!
It’s the truth! 😩😂❤️
It really upgrades an outfit and helps the clothing flatter you all the more 💕 I bought my first like spanx slip dress and it’s changed my wardrobe forever 😂 I never realized the difference it would make
Jasmine Ty How do you wear it?
Lemon Cookie with fitted dresses 👗
I think you should check out David Kibbe body types. It can explain why certain clothes fit you and some don't. Also very effective to correct style mistakes. Aly Art and Merriam Style are two channels I'll highly recommend for it.
Thank you for including examples of both situations. Very helpful video!
YES wish i'd figured out earlier that low and mid-rise jeans don't suit me, and that just because a pair of jeans are objectively my size, and say 'high rise' on them doesn't mean they will hit me at the right place and i should just keep looking for another style of high-rise jeans that come up high enough to reach my waist
also I FEEL YOU on the shoulder thing. I love deep v-necks because i feel like it draws the attention down and in and breaks up the horizontal line a bit
and YES on the hairstyle thing, it needs to be considered. my biggest makeup tip/discovery ive made for myself recently was to do my eyebrows after my hairstyle and my eyelashes because i feel like if youve got dramatic lashes and you wear your hair away from your face (like a ponytail or with a headband) then you can get away with bolder brows and what you mightve thought looked wayyy too dark before doing your hair actually looks good.
I never felt comfortable in the super low rise thing. High rise pants have been a gift send to me. I don’t wear any other type of pants
From last year only I started learning about my body and finding my personal style. Your videos make a big contribution in my journey. Thankyou.
With pants I’ve learned to size up to fit my butt and legs and then take in the waist
The thing about wearing less accessories I completely get, I feel exactly the same less is definitely more.
I feel like my face looks bigger when I do sleek low buns :/
Lorna Muller a happy medium I found was doing a middle/high bun. Follow your cheekbones and lay the bun around that height. Helps a lot
I feel this way sometimes too. I notice If I do a side part with the low bun or pull out some front pieces from my bangs, it balances my face out.
@@lorenm7 Oooh yes, letting down a couple of strands also makes the look feel softer
Thanks girls I’ll definitely give it a try :)
Lorna Muller i feel like my face looks massive with me hair up at all :/
her hands looks so soft and neat
As someone with wide/broader shoulders and neck, these tips are amazing -- thank you!! 💕
Your style sense is spot on!
Thank you so much for posting this!! This is like the first video that was actually helpful for me.
I have the same issue
Thanks great video- I’m relatively tall with long torso and legs, broad shoulders and a bigger neck and small chest - I think your videos are particularly helpful for my kind of body type!
Omg the hair part. It is so important and yet nobody talks about it!!
Oh my God girl ,I have really similar bodytype with yours ,and the fact with the necklace and the neck..gosh i spent YEARS to understand and fix it
I watch a lot of RUclips fashion videos and your the first one to mention playing around with different sizes. My mind set has always been to go for a certain size but that just doesn’t work all the time.
I have a short thick neck and wide shoulders. I really appreciate the tip about the short necklaces!!!
I'm also trying the button down shirt hack
'i used to wear the same bra for everything' ok., i am feeling So Attacked right now,,,, seriously tho love this video sm from content to setting!! everything!!!!
i have wide shoulders too and one thing i noticed is that when the fabric is not stitched straight at the shoulder but it comes from the neck in a diagonal line (it probs has a name idk if i made myself clear) i think it looks more balanced because it draws the eyes to my neck or my center you know what i mean???
V neck??
Ohh my lord..
Every word in this video is so true..
I myself have made these mistakes knowingly/unknowingly...🙈
❣️💟❣️
I agree, heels don't have to be super high to look great. Over 3 1/2 inches they make walking very difficult.
I don't buy foot torture devices.
well, if I did that I’d be taller than most men.
lil egg sames
lil egg oh
I buy foot torture device because I love love love being taller than most men😁
@@hooklynee5851 I can't get enough of the surge of power I get when looking down on men... Literally. 🤣
I love wearing foor torture device that are not as torturous in order to function properly with all of the handles/gabinets/buses make for people over 5.2'
dang this made me realize that one pair of pants that fits me perfectly in the waist might've actually been too small of a size for my thighs..
I love it
I just found you. You're very pleasant to listen to & make a lot of sense. You definitely style yourself well ❤
The necklace with the shoulders, sis, I can relate!!! I love chokers, but I don’t wear them the same anymore because my shoulders will look cray cray 😂
When you said you don't want to look like a linebacker lol I've literally said those exact words. I feel like I have broad shoulders and a thicker neck and I'm always trying find ways to look more delicate, even though my friends say I'm crazy for thinking that way about myself. It's so helpful to get tips from someone with a similar body type so thank you!! PS you are beautiful and do not look like a linebacker at all!
Also I very much relate about the "prominent" natural hair
I love this video! Super useful tips, some of which I’ve learned from years of doing it wrong, and new ones that I will definitely be using! Can you do a video with some of your favorite very-high waisted jeans? I am also a fellow long-torso gal who struggles to find high rises that can also fit my muscular butt and thighs! Thanks so much 💕
You look really gorgeous! Love your hairstyle and earrings in this video
You are doing a great job sweetie ...its taken me till 57 to realise that a high rise suits me better and at 4 10 I can't give up heels - I wish I wish xxx
So much of this makes sense because I think you are a natural type beauty. Wide shoulders, no cropped outerwear, no crazy mix of jewelry and accessories, height....so much of this! See @alyart and @merriamstyle. Love your content!! ♥️👌🏻
Love this! I’d love a trouser dos and don’ts video!
