I agree. Tbh, as a YG stan for a long time I admired their voices in the music debut. But I actually expect something UNEXPECTED musically. The kind of music that I haven't heard. Because they are that talented and deserving!!! But not gonna lie, this debut music still hits tho
That's also what comes to my mind, people are complaining that it's that kind of song, but when I have heard the song itself and hearing the word BabyMonster, now I fully understand what YG meant before. Also since it's just a debut, it's a very solid one, they just need to introduce themselves as a YG group and they can do things if they wanted to continue this kind of music or not, but on what I notice, they would do the early hip hop sound but with the theme or concept of sports, at least of what I have seen from their debut, I don't complain at all tho. I know that they are pure talented artists and as long as they create good music, I don't mind the YG formula coz it's very effective and never fades.

I 100% agree. Each member is a monster on their own. Which is why, I dont understand why people still comparing Babymonster to another group who's been in the business for 7+ years. This song is FIRE for a debut single. As far as the MV goes, I felt confuse more than anything. Felt like the visual team could have done so much better for a newly girl group that they've been working on for so long.

One thing different about the other group is they have already stated that Asa has helped write the song. Also, it’s sounding like Teddy is not going to be their producer. In the Last Evaluation YG stated he’s never released a girl group with so many members… so I am hoping they are going to play around with a different formula but at the same time being a YG stan, I also hope they keep YG sound. but maybe in actually putting down if the girls help write this song, that the girls help a new YG sound come through. In the Last Eval they also mentioned that the girls helped re/write parts of the songs they song in training, and that multiple of the girls were very good at it.

I'm sure after debut they will dabble in different sounds like their sunbaes have. Really only BP (Boombayah), Treasure and BM debuted a song with the YG switch up "party ending". It could have been cool as a single release debut to follow more in Winner and iKON's debut footsteps with more of a slow jam with some great raps but I feel like no matter what these girls released there would be a lot of fans happy and a lot of people dragging it.
my only complaints about the debut (as someone totally immersed in the group since the first rumors back in 2019) are about YG's decisions that directly affected the song's performance on the Korean charts because globally speaking the song was a hit, breaking records on RUclips , became the most viewed debut MV in kpop with 22M, performed well on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, etc. If YG had done a better job, for example: releasing the song in the right hour, holding a press conference, doing a live countdown for the girls to interact with the public before the release of the MV, the performance would have been even better. But overall I loved everything! the music is great, the MV is beautiful, the choreography is good, everything was incredible. it was a typical YG debut, showing the essence of the company rooted in the groups(just as it was in the debut of ikon, winner, blackpink, 2ne1, bigbang) and now from this they will start to work on the group's unique style, which was very well shown throughout the entire MV. The girls are pure hip-hop, pop and R&B, a huge difference from many girl groups that currently exist in kpop. so it is inevitable that they will grow even further in the industry and become big names, setting new trends. because a lot of people commented on it saying that it's generic, more of the same, nothing innovative but in a few months you can be sure that most companies will be trying to launch a BabyMonster and a Batter Up!

I personally have no idea why netizens have an issue with the song. What were they expecting? It's YG and they chose to be there, knowing YG's sounds.
