      So, a 65W PD charger can give 60W of power to this light. What about a 100W PD charger? Those chargers exist, but is this light capable of accepting 100W via USB-C connection?
      Also, do you have plans for a RGB version? A RGB version in this form factor would be nice!

      I bought this light after reading positive reviews, but on the very first day of using it, my reflector got burned and stuck to its mount. I sent it for repairs, and they claimed to have fixed the issue. However, when it came back, I attached it to the Bowens mount, and within 5 minutes, it burned my Bowens mount adapter as well.

    You just answered so many question I had about the MolusX100. Specifically this video has been super helpful about supplying an external power source since the OEM battery that came with mine completely died after very light use (and no damage) just 2 months after purchase.

  • @diegoeidelman

    I like a lot the format and size of this lights. The power declared by the manufacturers in specs is always tricky because they name them by it's power consumption (100 are watts). The Molus X100 is 3.881 lux at 1 meter and the Molus G60 is 2.428 lux while the Godox SL 60W (I have it) is 4.500 lux at 1 meter, all without reflectors. I know they don't declare 100 or 60 watts, but it's still tricky and confuse the general consumer.
    Thanks for your video!

      Keep in mind Godox SL 60w is daylight only; whereas the Molus G60 is bi-Color (around half the output of the daylight only light) a closer comparison would be the Godox ML60bi, which will likely give similar output as the Molus G60

      Can I pick your brain a bit in how you’d set these up?
      I’d think I’d use the 60W as hair lights and could usually find an outlet to plugs those in for those looong nights with tons of speeches, but how would you power the 100w ones if speeches go on for 2-3 hours? No V mount option…

      @@simpleloveweddingfilms5535 Were I to get these, I would probably get two of the 100s and get the combo packs with the battery grip and the accessories that come with it. I have had some long speeches but I've never run into a 2-3 hour block like that, but perhaps it's a cultural thing and location, not sure. I would suggest a 100W battery that would be a back up or the ZGCine S 95 V mount does have PD/in out and if you get a small v-mount adaptor, that might be an adequate power solution .... As long as you're not running the lights at 100% I think there would be a lot of time in the batteries....I think the flat shape of the light and the modular form factor of the battery grip make them an ideal light for weddings...like Se said, I would just love to see some type of snap on fresnel perhaps like Light and Motion has for their Stella Reflex lights and then I think you have yourself the kind of light I have been looking for for a very long time...

    Was really hoping you were going to cover the power bank issue with the x100. I ran mine for 5 minutes with a 100w pd bank, 100w cable. Went for 5 minutes and the light went out. The display would work, but the COB was bricked. Firmware update, reboot, none of it would fix it.

So I purchased the SmallRig VB99 battery and connected it to the Molus x100 light using a USB-C cable. The newly purchased battery was charged at 51%, and the Molus was delivering a maximum power of 18W, which is 19% of its potential. Why is this the case? No idea if you'll see this question, but I recently purchased the light last-minute to use at a wedding shoot and I found that even when set at 1% strength the light was WAY too bright to use during the event, even with the little softbox on it. It was a low-light venue to being with, but the 1% light was too disruptive to use during the speeches and too disruptive to use later to try to add some light to the dance floor. Also 100W is a lot of power. Whatever the battery is, it will drain it very fast, which case you’ll find yourself using it at lower brightness, which case 65W is still a good solution. But how many lumens those lamps make? I saw those compact lights and I was thinking cool but are they capable of replacing a bigger light completely? How do they work with Bowens modifiers, can you make it a spot light with a fresnel lens, how much light comes out of a bowens mount modifier compared to the bigger godox for example. The LED looks smaller and with the bowens adapter it looks hidden so it is capable of working properly with it. Why my focus is on the bowens mount - because the small modifiers from Zhiyun look like toys and I am not interested in them at all :D.

    • @SePark
      @SePark  Год назад +3

      Hey Simeon! The X100 is 17,317 lux with the reflector according to the spec sheet. It was enough to replace my Godox SL60. These Output measurements are tricky with the reflectors. SL60 measures 4100 lux with their reflector. The bigger lights have their place for sure. I see X100 as a light you can hang high and fit into smaller places. One thing I didn’t get to cover is that I wished they had a fresnel. Having to put the adapter just to put on a Bowens mount fresnel makes the light much larger.

    • @SimeonKolev
      @SimeonKolev Год назад +1

      @@SePark true true :) I like the idea that it is small but for me it will do the job if I can use it with bowens modifiers without big sacrifices. For example the small 2x Aputure fresnel and a decently sized softbox like 80-120cm sized.
      The lumens are measured always in the center and some reflectors make a spot there so it will not be a fair comparison which is why my interest is about the bowens ones.
      As a compact and lightweight light it is fine but Amaran 60D is also small and works great with bowens modifiers.
