I transitioned to Moho last month after thinking about it for 2 years. And it's been blowing my mind away. Moho is the best at common sense bone systems with the easiest rigging workflow. If Moho comes up with a good bitmap/vector drawing system, then there's really no competition.
You can do the same just by setting visible on and off at the frame you want on the old version. Btw I have 13 and when. I tried to upgrade it didn't work anyone know why .
Los Vitruvian Bones son una gran idea. Estoy encantado con la resurrección de MOHO y con ganas de ver todo lo que seréis capaces de traernos para mejorar nuestras animaciones. Muchas gracias Victor.
So can switch layers not go into vitruvian bones? I did the steps correctly and the bones and the switch layer disappear but the layer (art) stays visible and outside the group.
Moho only hides artwork that is connected to the bones of a Vitruvian bone chain. The connection is made with the 'Use selected bones for flexi-binding' menu. If a layer is connected to one or more bones unrelated with the Vitruvian Bone chain, then Moho won't hide that layer when you switch Vitruvian bones (you can check page 305 in the manual for more information about this). Anyway, if after you set up the Vitruvian groups, you need a specific part of a layer bound to a bone that is not in the Vitruvian bones chain, you can use the Bind points tool instead. (Check 4:50)
@@mohoanimation the fact that you told me to check the manual just made me very upset. I’ve been using Anime Studio since 5. Anime Studio 5. I know how to bind layers. I’m not new and I asked simply can a switch layer be added to vitruvian bones. In every tutorial the hands and or feet are vector layers. Not switch layers. I have hands and feet as switch layers and it didn’t work. I feel like I wasted $400 when I can just smart bone it. Last thing 305 is Presets. Has nothing to do with what I’m talking about.
@@KartoonManagement Hello, we were trying to help you here. If something is not clear, please just ask and we can try to explain it better :) Switch layers can be part of a Vitruvian group. You can flexi-bind individual layers or using the menu or select the switch layer and use the Bind layer tool to bind the entire switch layer to a bone.
advanced switch layer, Awsome. is there a shortcut key that would allow me to simply select the group I want to switch to instead of running through them with alt+D/C. Like we have ctrl+Alt+right click for switch layer (and it works directly on the switch layer under the mouse cursor without even selecting the switch layer. genius)

So lets say I make a vituvian bone for a head turn... and I let my rig do a headturn while simulltaneously speak (with the help of auto-lip sync and switch layers) will it have a seamless transition between the switch layers for the mouth when they're speaking? Also congrats on 100K subscribers!!
Very cool, like switch layers for bones. I wish you would use screencast keys in your tuts, because sometimes the 'c' 'd' 'b' letters for keys sound the same. I had to search to find Alt 'C' was for switching vitruvian bones layers (or switch layers). The search is manual because the keymap search does not recognize 'Alt' + 'C'. The alt -/ key doesn't register in the search space.
Very nice but I have 2 questions: #1- You said at the end you can use this for a head, but if you switch the head wouldn't you need to sync two mouths and eye sets rather than use a smart bone to make one head turn or something? #2- I'm sure it's obvious to everyone but me, but are Vitruvian bones just a sort of bone switch layer?
Can you then set up a switch layer on a Vitruvian bone for different hand shapes? Like if I wanted the hand to drag a bit in motion from one V bone to the next.
Question: Is it possible to mix frame-by-frame animation or hand-drawn animation with bone animation in Moho? For example, competitors like toon boom harmony or adobe anime have this. What about Moho?
Moho is not a best solution for frame-by-frame animation. It has a toolkit for frame-by-frame animation, but so far it is not very convenient. However, if needed, you also can import a frame-by-frame sequence from another program into Moho and combine it with bone animation made in Moho
since I won't do vector animation, is it possible to use this vitruvian feature in bitmap artwork with quad mesh? I assume the bitmap artwork should be separated in many layers.
Hi victor [ i hope I wrote your name correctly ] I use moho pro 12 because the latest version of moho doesn't work with my current MAC but anyways on to my question: what are the differences between using the Vitruvian bone method, and just doing a normal rig and parent the bones to the switch layers? will it give me the same result
Hello, Karla. Moho 13.5 works with macOS 10.15, 10.16 or higher. If it's not working for you, please contact our support team. About Vitruvian bones and Switch layers, there are many differences. For instance, with Vitruvian bones you control everything from the bone layer, so no extra keys or navigation between layers is required, making the animation process easier and cleaner. Also, with Vitruvian bones the layers you hide/show can be anywhere in the rig, so there's no hierarchy or layer order limitations. Vitruvian bones are not limited to show or hide parts of the body, you can also use them to show/hide sets of Smart bones controllers, depending on what you are animating at the time. You can also have two different chains of bones controlling the same part of the body. So at any frame you could change from three bones moving an arm, to ten bones moving that same arm, for example. Finally, Vitruvian bones hide the bones you are not using, so the rig is always clean and easy to manipulate. There's no easy way to achieve something like that by using Switch layers. We built this feature with the idea of having a simple tool with as many options as possible and a lot of room to be creative :)
I notice when I copy the arm I use for vitruvian bones and release the layer I notice that I cannot rig it. Do I have to recreate the entire arm again on the other side?
I have another question. I am having several issues with setting up Vitruvian Bones. They are not grouping correctly. And after I group them , either they stay , or create 2 groups. Additionally, when I add a 3 rd arm, that created a separate group. Can I Message you on Facebook Messenger. A second pair of eyes would be a great help.

Try with 'Reset' instead of 'Release'. That will set the new arm to a default status. After that, you can rig it in the way you want

anybody knows what to do if your vitruvian bone doesn't hide the "other" arm automatically? i dont know why it doesnt
Vitruvian Bones need the layers Linked to the bones in order to know what to show and what to hide. Be sure your arms layers are linked correctly.
@ thanks, i found that selecting the layer, then the bone and going to Bone>make link does the trick!
