  • Plantain grows right under our feet along country roads, abandoned parking lots, and hiking trails.
Plantain is often used topically to stop the bleeding for minor cuts and scrapes.
Plantain is also used to support the body during cold, sore throat, bronchitis, and, rhinitis (runny nose).
Besides tea, plantain can be used in the form of a tincture.

When I was a child, my sisters and I would play house outdoors in our playhouse. We would pick Plantain and pretend it was bread. Not eating it……..I never knew it was edible and I guess my mom didn’t know either as we had a lot of it in our yard but never ate any. We did however eat tons of dandelions when they came out in the spring. I now want to forage all kinds of edibles. Very interesting to me.

I grew up using it on my scraped knees when I was a kid. All my friends did that. It was a legend that passed down from generations before us. We never actually believed that it did something, but used it anyway. And only when I became an adult and got access to internet I googled подорожник and found out that it's actually even better than we were told! I'm from Moldova and I think it's properties are known more to the Eastern European and Asia regions than other places.
I never thought to make a tincture out of it, but now I'm going to!

I have Heard- snakebite spider bites etc from an online vet who is holistic vet and has seen its uses firsthand so plantain fresh and available as a poltice… spit not hurting a thing and since it is not a plant that stores too awfully long as a dried herb..,if you can get it fresh as with anything or store it for longevity as a tincture…many thanks for keeping the old and true ways alive lulu…stay blessed

I just found and subbed to your channel. I love your herbal presentations. If you haven't yet, I would love to see a video on what herbal books you do use. I realize you used a lot of them growing up, which I think is really cool. I have used some very common ones with my son however I would love to start using more with us both. Thanks for your videos.

You are so encouraging . Thank you. I put this on a bee sting and layered the leaves in my socks and I was able to walk normal because usually my whole foot swells. I can't believe how well it worked. I was also high up in the mountains of Portugal and the herb must have been super potent. My son gets bad coughs I need to make this tincture!
