That lap wheel is pretty impressive! Looks like a great studio setup! I enjoyed this video, and found it very helpful. I have made a couple of drop outs but never ventured beyond removing the ring and finishing the top.
Can I ask you a question about drop vessels? I have a Skutt Hotstart Pro and I know I can only get a 3" drop max. with only 6 1/2" depth on my kiln. This is my first time. With my heating elements about 2" from my substrate what would you recommend as my first ramp up..... 100/800/0?
So Aaron....it was a success for my first try on the little drop. I was given a schedule from Nathan Sanders as I bought a drop out mold from him. Question: I stopped my drop just as it hit the kiln shelf. It made a little flat pad and it does stand up on it's own with the slab or rim still attached. So if I was to continue the drop making the flat area larger does it also shape the sides so the drop vessel so it is not so cone shaped? I also plan to cut the rim off...
Thank you for taking the time to show this!

This is the Bullseye Glass studio in Santa Fe. Having acess to these tools makes drop outs more manageable!
I wish you would show the process and schedule of this!
Did you make your lapp grinder?
Great video. Where did you purchase the lap wheel? I would like to get one.
The lap wheel was manufactured by Bullseye Glass technicians

Dean, I wouldn't worry too much about the proximity of your elements. If your glass slab is

I like your system for hanging storage of the wheels - did you make that or can I find it online somewhere?
If I had to guess its something you purchase, we have something identical in our shop at school
