With the "old me killed the new me" line, I think it's related to the same thing as in Lucky You when he was talking about how he's rapping about shit that's relevant to him now, and fans of "old Em" criticize him for changing. In that same stanza, he's building up the "evil spell" thing with the looking in a mirror and not seeing his breath, in a lot of old myths vampires and ghosts(scary monsters) either can't see themselves in a mirror or don't see their breath, like when you fog up a mirror/glass from being close to it and breathing on it. So he's comparing himself to something scary and mythological(which he does much more blatantly in the song Godzilla which you for sure have to react to at some point)
"I said my beef is more meaty/a journalist can get a mouthful of flesh." The one the line ends with "meaty" and the next line begins with "a journalist" makes it sound like "media journalist." I was a huge Eminem fan back in the early 2000's but stopped listening after The Eminem Show. Bro you have to do Castle and Arose back to back to truly appreciate what this man can do after having come back from the dead, although the tracks are more on the deep/insightful end of the spectrum (make sure to let them play out till the very end). He was in his mid 30's when he had to re-learn the most simple of things not to mention to rap and be an entertainer once again.. If you watch some of his concerts right after rehab, it's heartbreaking, comparing that performance with his tours before. He literally debuted once again in his 40's while having all the spotlights on him and the bar he already set for himself astronomically high. All credits to him for being able to become the greatest of all time a 2nd time.

Revival didn't have the greatest production, but there were voices in the rap community that hated on the album before it was releasef just based of the tracklist and the features. Which is why he doesn't announce his releases any more.
Even though the beats aren't the best the lyrics are very personal and it shows another side to Em than what people were used to.

Ex: few people catch the “I press the issue just to get the anger out /Full magazine could take Staples out” is about Rapper names Staples who called his BET cypher trash, or something like that, enough to get Em to fire back at him in one line.
And the Secret Service investigates everything, no matter if it’s just a song. They monitor every tweet/social media mentioning him and trace that person to check if a threat.

So he's talking about critics in the music industry... And don't trip over mfers talking about missing lyrics. NOBODY catches them all right off the top. That's one of the best things about Em is catching something new the first 4-6 times u listen to a track. The most bar heavy verse I've ever heard is Fat Joe/Eminem "Lord Above". With the "old me killed the new me" line, I think it's related to the same thing as in Lucky You when he was talking about how he's rapping about shit that's relevant to him now, and fans of "old Em" criticize him for changing.
In that same stanza, he's building up the "evil spell" thing with the looking in a mirror and not seeing his breath, in a lot of old myths vampires and ghosts(scary monsters) either can't see themselves in a mirror or don't see their breath, like when you fog up a mirror/glass from being close to it and breathing on it. So he's comparing himself to something scary and mythological(which he does much more blatantly in the song Godzilla which you for sure have to react to at some point)

I was a huge Eminem fan back in the early 2000's but stopped listening after The Eminem Show. This is my first time hearing this song and I had to listen to that part several times to catch the double meaning.
