Another must-watch dance practice is 'Beastmode'. It's a b-side that they promoted so it has choreo and it's SO GOOOOD.
Monsta X dancers/choreographers are phenomenal. Their company is called FreeMind and they have been doing Monsta X (and Wonho's) choreographer for many years. Their dancers go on tour with them and some of them practically have their own fandoms. 🤣 I love FreeMind.
YES! 'BeastMode' and 'Gambler', my favorite dance practices of them!
The more you get to know Monsta X, the more you'll come to see that set positions are pretty much obsolete and more of a serving suggestion. They are an ever evolving group, and they stay changing it up and trying new things, they've had the same choreo team for years, and they always say Monsta X are their own genre. In fact the X in their name is the mathematical X - an unknown variable, there to tell us from the get go that they will always experiment with sound and style and not limit themselves. As for choreo in general, Monsta X's style is actually more free like you said, intentionally, even their choreographers say that it's not about perfect synchronising with them (although they score pretty high there), they let them do it in a way that shows off all of their individual swag and personalities, and it always comes together in this fire way that cannot be replicated, which is why a lot of covers fall flat
The liar version of beautiful liar is where one of the members had to do a penalty while dancing, it’s just one member but everyone pretends they’re doing the penalty, it was a game for monbebe to figure out who was the liar, it’s so fun^^

The recording behinds are so great especially since you can see the different directing styles of the producers (Jooheon, Hyungwon, Changkyun). They also have choreo behind videos (where they’re actually learning the choreos) for Rush Hour and Beautiful Liar which are super fun to watch (especially the later one)! ❤
Btw you should definitely check out the dance practices for Beastmode and Gambler.
Monsta x dance practice for new monbebe like yourself I think is a great way to show where they shine. Monsta x has amazing dancers specially hyungwon and shownu. Everything they do is amazing. But the dance practices are that much better.
Well, if you're planning on watching the Fantasia dance practice, may I suggest the costumed version so that you can see Hyungwon as a dancing dinosaur?
Not to mention of love kihyun hair in this one. It’s the way it fluffs up when he moves. I like his hair moves with him and idk why but I love it.

I absolutely love watching their dance practices, but I feel bad because it seems like Kihyun get stuck in the back a lot and you can’t see him. 😊 I love watching Hyungwon dance. I think it’s so appealing because he’s tall and has long lines. When I first saw them dance I was instantly glued to Changkyun. The swag that man has is insane. ❤
I don’t know what recording behinds you are planning on watching but may I suggest the ones from their shape of love album. There is Love, produced by Jooheon, Burning up, produced by Hyungwon and AND produced by Changkyun. It’s a good mix because can see each one’s different producing styles…not to mention those songs are all still on my most favorite of favorites playlist! 😁

Also with the beautiful liar, liar version it was a challenge/penalty type dance practice. One of them had to do something different and us fans had to choose what they did. That’s the best way to explain it without giving it away. And they have a special clip of it also showing what the difference was also.
i believe the thing you talk about the mx choreo changing is also because they have always been using the same choreo team has been making these moves for them (the members do improvise some, esp sn) and you can see the different ways of each member doing the same moves, i think its unique, their moves sync but they shine distinctively
Please watch Jealousy and Beautiful dance practice. Monsta X is just so good at everything they do and you can defo tell they are natural and enjoys it.
Emily you should watched No. Mercy Shows because this show gave them these level to perform. And how they debute themself in k-pop you can know
And I also think that it's kinda interesting because we can definitely tell whether the dance practice is from covid era or not. Back then, performances were for recording rather than stages, so they usually focus more on camera works.
You should try watching all their self cam version bc it gives a different feels and it’s fun to see them doing self cams 😂💖

Monsta X have this thing with choreo where like you can watch one member and be like "oh yep, that's how it goes" and then watch another and think the exact same thing 6 times over, yet watching them all together is still watching a group perform together in sync

omg yessss recording session please and idk if ur friend told you about this or not, there is also dance practicing videos (the one where they actually start to learn and figure how to make positions alongside with the choreographer)

the reason why Rush Hour seems more punchy is because it's written by Joohoney and Beautiful Liar is written by Hyungwon. they both wrote these songs in their styles so the vibes we get from Rush Hour are Johoney vibes and Beautiful Liar has Hyungwon vibes. These songs are literally Joohoney and Hyungwon in real life lol. Joohoney has a lively and energetic personality and Hyungwon has calm, lazy and deep personality.
Oh and Also Joohoney and I.M now always write their own rap parts. Even when the songs are composed by other members, they leave Joohoney's and I.M's parts empty and they fill it with their own lyrics. Pretty cool
None of them made Beautiful Liar Hyungwon, Jooheon and I.M only wrote lyrics for it
Hyungwon didn’t produce Beautiful Liar, he, Jooheon and Changkyun have all writing credits on the song for Lyrics.
Rush Hour in comparison was actually written and produced by Jooheon and Changkyun has writing credits for his rap parts.

Wonho ans Shownu both are good dancers and both of them were both helping with the choreography(especially Shownu) so it's possible that this change in choreography is because they're not here now?!
I have to say that I get what you mean when you talked about their dance style and the fact that it changed. For me I think that the years passed and they got more comfortable with their own dancing style, while on their first years you had to stick to the structure and synchrony (not that they arent in sync rn ok), just like they get to express their style and do the choreo effortlessly, because it soooo smooth and they make it look so easy hahahahha my fave dance practice are Fantasia (there are multiples of this one btw, the original ver. and the ones with costumes), Alligator, LOVE and Beautiful. love love love
