People dogging on it being a diesel must not have heard of the Audi R10, R15, R15+ or any of the R18 models. Audi making a diesel sports model is completely in keeping with their sportscar heritage.

The 3.0 turbo petrol s4 they get in the USA is better than this in every possible aspect imaginable.

@@andreabotti99 ya, then the S4 had a V8 for 2 generations, then it had a V6 again..things change...the diesel is only down 5 hp on the petrol and up 200 in torque. Its much more powerful than the B5, and only 2hp down on the B6/7 S4 V8...I had the B7 S4, and loved it, so im not saying this from a completely dinexperienced place. Would i take the new S4 (or any modern S/RS)...yes in a heartbeat. Heritage is wide ranging, as is Audis motorsports history.

Yes it does, that’s all I care about when it comes to sound. And tbh, the Diesel engine here saves so much fuel that it actually makes one of these a valid option for a lot of people that before were excluded by the astronomical running costs. Diesel is the perfect type of engine for this sort of car, the added punch you get when in gear or overtaking is exactly what this sort of car is about. Props to Audi for trying something different!

@@waynepeel4516 not on the outside - they play some fake sound on the inside, which you can turn down (not sure if it is completely off). In deed I like the subtle growling of the V6 TDI - don't miss a screaming petrol usually listen to music driving anyway and just need the car sound as a little additional feedback of the driving-speed. And on the outside - I don't have to proove anything to pedestrians - my car could be dead silent as long, as I know I get the performance, when I need it.
Der B8 RS4 klang auch verdammt gut! Der B9 RS4 klingt selbst mit einer guten Auspuffanlage relativ lächerlich. Da ist'n GTI Performance teilweise lauter. Der neue RS6 ist aber traumhaft schön geworen - ganz klar Geschmackssache, jedoch ist das Design des C8 echt relativ schön bis auf die Spange über'm Diffusor.

People complain about fake sound in the cockpit, even though with that you get to at least hear the sound of your powerful engine - although through the speakers. But this Audi logic of installing speakers OUTSIDE the car so that others hear a completely fake sound is just ridiculous! TF were they thinking, honestly?
I am personally a fan of petrol engines but I can see why they are doing it, with electric cars coming out they will prob be focusing on sound even more for the sport models in the future, it’s just very early stages, definitely needs refinement and they might perfect it one day. But nothing will replace a true petrol engine for me

Well if you haven’t found out yet you put it in s mode on the gear selector, then to dynamic drive mode and hold down the traction control button until it says esc sport then you’re good to go

Schmerzt nem Audi Liebhaber schon.. Alles Diesel.. Wenn man so vernünftig gewesen wäre das die auch einen Benziner anbieten, wäre das sogar besser gewesen als nur Benziner. Und je nach dem was sich besser Verkauft wird halt dann beim nächsten S4 in Serie gehen. Wenn mir jemand mit dem Argument kommt: Ja ist für vielfahrer besser: Nein. Ein Vielfahrer holt sich nen A4 und keinen S oder gar RS. Echt traurig was die machen, hilft wohl nur selbst Hand anlegen und was anderes Reinpflanzen wenn man sich den so eben gleich Kaufen kann. Mit V8 Sauger wäre der echt verdammt böse :D
What fake system is it this time? The soundaktor (though that's for interior sound) or speakers in the exhaust pipes like BMW do? I assume both...sad times. I sort of understand for the inside because of modern sound proofing etc but fake outside is just for show. Also...if they're putting diesels in S cars now, why not the V8 from the SQ7 at least. Give it some appeal. At least one upside is the crazy torque from the S4. Who cares about MPG with an S car though...that's not an upside!
Wie hier alle den sound niedermachen... Dieses Modell soll mal etwas anderes sein. Wer Diesel nicht mag soll den Benziner nehmen.. Dieser Soundgenerator ist genial verglichen mit den alten "Lautsprechern" beim b8 c7 oder A5 Diesel Ich sehe hier klare Vorteile... Allein Drehmoment ohne Ende! Und das ist wohl für einen der viel transportiert wichtiger wie ein Benziner der mit maximale Belastung ohne hohen Verbrauch und kickdown kaum vom Fleck kommt. Schmerzt nem Audi Liebhaber schon.. Alles Diesel.. Wenn man so vernünftig gewesen wäre das die auch einen Benziner anbieten, wäre das sogar besser gewesen als nur Benziner. Und je nach dem was sich besser Verkauft wird halt dann beim nächsten S4 in Serie gehen. Wenn mir jemand mit dem Argument kommt: Ja ist für vielfahrer besser: Nein. Ein Vielfahrer holt sich nen A4 und keinen S oder gar RS.
Echt traurig was die machen, hilft wohl nur selbst Hand anlegen und was anderes Reinpflanzen wenn man sich den so eben gleich Kaufen kann. Mit V8 Sauger wäre der echt verdammt böse :D
Mit dem V8 Biturbo aus dem RS6 C7 wäre der auch böse und verdammt schnell 😁

What fake system is it this time? The soundaktor (though that's for interior sound) or speakers in the exhaust pipes like BMW do? I assume both...sad times. I sort of understand for the inside because of modern sound proofing etc but fake outside is just for show. Also...if they're putting diesels in S cars now, why not the V8 from the SQ7 at least. Give it some appeal. At least one upside is the crazy torque from the S4. Who cares about MPG with an S car though...that's not an upside!
