The retro-futuristic aesthetic in “Loki” was dope. I liked how the set designers meticulously used nostalgic, vintage tech like CRT monitors and screens reminiscent of the old 8-bit Game Boy era to craft the bureaucratic TVA environment - making it feel like it’s from another time. I love seeing such attention to detail - fantastic work from Production Designer, Kasra Farahani.
In Natalie Holt’s brilliant score, I noticed there were a lot of unconventionally intriguing synth-y sound effects, so I decided to recreate them using my Arturia Minifreak. I automated parameters like the cut-off, LFOs, pitch, and wave types to give the effects some movement, character, and charm. Natalie Holt’s production style is ear candy of the likes I’ve never heard before, and it’s opened up a whole new world of sound design for me.
