@@whousa642 to be honest I don't even remember the contents of the talk now. :) But if that's all the depth you care about (which is fair), what brings you to this video?
If you think wait times justify the 40,000-60,000+ people that die who can't afford healthcare each year, do you think avoiding the doctor because of cost is a healthier option? Wait times are inconvenient, but you get; an appointment, a doctor, the medical knowledge of a country, the equipment, materials etc. FREE. Why is this so hard?
Did you actually watch the video? He never said that it's better. He literally said that prices are high because of artificially higher costs imposed onto the industry.
@@austinbyrd4164 I agree with you, maybe I didn't communicate it properly. The point was using wait times as comparison doesn't work as both systems have wait times no matter what, but when Americans think this is a bad thing when they're not even given the option. If your not trying to "make" money then the costs of healthcare is irrelevant and can be handled like city/state police, fire, water, sewer etc.
@Bremensname That comes at a cost from taxation, which a free market would be better than. Higher wait times are a bad thing. Is it *as bad* as our corporatist protectionist system creating exorbitant prices? Depends if you want care now, but overall no. It is better. Still terrible and free competition would be better.
@@austinbyrd4164 this is absurd. That's the system America has now and look at all the problems. Why would you want competition and economics (free market) in your Healthcare? That doesn't make sense 😕 those are properties of consumer products and encourage profit over people 🙄 Healthcare is the opposite of this. Competition and price encourage the current state of capitalism not quality of life. There is no rulebook but when patterns emerge, it's wise to make notes. Sorry, as a Canadian it's so disappointing that America doesn't understand if it's an emergency you get what you need, if it's uncomfortable or inconvenient you just have to wait for everybody. If it becomes an emergency while waiting you move up the queue.
@Bremensname This is nonsense. Healthcare, along with the financial sector, are the most regulated industries in the country. What we're describing isn't at all what we have now. Actually watch the video.
You could be waiting years in Australia.
We run out of medicine in Australia too.
Really wish Medicare For All was covered in this talk.
It was. The entire talk was against Medicare for all.
@@whousa642 I'm referring to the part of the lecture towards the end where he had to skip stuff in the interest of time.
@@YashArya01 // what do you think there is to say? Socialism is bad therefore Medicare for all very bad.

He looks like Greg Mankiw so muchh
Seriously bad ideas. I HAVE worked in nursing for 40 yrs.You are scary!
What was bad?
Seriously dumb comment. I can sight doctors who disagree with you. You being a nurse doesn't mean you know anything about economics.
Your problem is that you worked in nursing for too long.
