Earthworks, can you do something with the pricing in EU?I want to try Ethos over my SM7B, but I´m not gonna pay 700€ when it already should he 400€ like for the SM7B. I wish you could send some for test but, I´m too tiny on RUclips for that, so please help with the pricing 🙏
If you guys were to redesign the ethos, try to make it like SM7B (XLR connector) because it makes cables looks nicer. The SM7B yoke suck, hope you guys will have a better iteration of it. I love the sound of the ethos, but my only issues is that it doesn't look near for my podcast, so we got 6 SM7B instead. Just my 2 cents, and looking forward to a super large diaphragm capsule from you guys, something like 38mm capsule to replace the SV33.
Wow, the Ethos wins hands down. It sounded like I was listening in HD everytime it switched to the Ethos making the SM7B sound dull and almost muddy in tone.
I have both, but I use the Ethos more. Mainly because its different and everyone has an SM7B now. I had one before it was cool haha. Plus, the Ethos just sounds so dang good!
Im kinda wondering if i should switch from my sm7b to the ethos, it seems pretty good at noise rejection as well, there wasnt much difference between them when you played the audio trough your speakers while talking
Weird. I've listened to half a dozen comparisons of the Ethos and SM7b, and yours is the only one that makes me lean toward the SM7b. In all the others, the Ethos was a clear winner to my ears (via the ER4SR).
Oh, yeah, sorry if it sounded like I implied otherwise! Your comparison video is very good: clear, fair, and not wasting time. There may be various resons for the "discrepancy" I noted, starting by the fact that all the testers I've listened to have different voices. Your voice, for instance, is quite different from Bandrew's (from Podcastage) or Curtis Judd's. And of course, my earphones (ER4SR), ears, and personal taste also play their part. I should probably provide links. Wait a moment ... Ethos is the better Mic but the choice isn't that simple is it. The room treatment will determine which mic. FYI the ball mount is stellar. As an audio engineer I love Eathworks mic's! That said if you have the customer has SM7B, you can't justiify the switch. I take 5 mic's to customers and the SM7B isn't one of them because I can get the SM7B sound out of the Rode Procaster for half the price the Ethos is the 2nd most expensive mic I let people test. The Neumann U 87 Ai is the best mic but at $3500, it should be!
@@JacquesItch inside the settings on the Rodecaster Pro 2 you have full EQ and so it quite easy to do. (Left off that part in the comment) All of my rigs involve the Rodecaster Pro 2. I have the Sound Device mix Pre but for recording primarily (where you take the files into the DAW to apply the stuff after recording) all mic's need EQ and processing and the Rodecaster Pro 2 is the best on bunch right now.
@@mattwruff Oh, I didn't know you were using one of those. I've been trying to find some EQ settings to get my Procaster mic sound more like the SM7B. Thanks.
@@mattwruffDoes the RCP2 still have compatibility issues with the Ethos? I’d like to get one, but the stories about the 48v blowing up Ethos’s has led to me hesitating.
I honestly feel like the SM7B isn't as good as people say it is, I've been using it for vocals for a year now and honestly, the mic doesn't work that well with vocals.
Your saying spend hundreds of dollars for preamps etc for a clean line from sm7b, 800 to a 1000 . Lmao. your way off. 100 to 150 for a fett, they made of gold,50 will get one that works fine no issues. Didn't mention 16db floor on the ethos either, should be about 6 for that price, more ment forbooth work not podcasts really.
@Riversidefm and still. Eed a dac for the sm7db, but o0 quid get ample dac and a fett if needed for 50.so them only this clown is talking g about is way way off the mark. Really take the video down a d do it again.
Thank you so much for featuring the ETHOS!!! ❤️

@@SlipschThere is an all-black Ethos available too.
Wow, the Ethos wins hands down. It sounded like I was listening in HD everytime it switched to the Ethos making the SM7B sound dull and almost muddy in tone.
For my voice especially the Ethos helps limit that muddy / low end. Thanks for watching!
yes. the sm7b usually always sounds muddy without insane processing and good room treatment
I have both, but I use the Ethos more. Mainly because its different and everyone has an SM7B now. I had one before it was cool haha. Plus, the Ethos just sounds so dang good!
haha same! I still prefer the Ethos
@@Riversidefm definitely can’t beat it! Love that thing.
I love the Ethos! How would you recommend traveling with it? The original box worked for airline travel, but what is the best way for everyday carry?
Honestly I feel pretty confident carrying it around. I don't have a bespoke case for it, but I think in a generic mic bag it would be great
The Ethos looks SO much nicer than the SM7B. But I think the Shure is more flattering to your voice.,
Appreciate that! And EQ can get them sounding even closer.
The ethos sounds like it has a bit more high end. Sounds more crisp. But I can hear a slight buzz in high end.
It does sound more crisp, and I don't typically hear a buzz on the high end, but will keep an ear out.
Im kinda wondering if i should switch from my sm7b to the ethos, it seems pretty good at noise rejection as well, there wasnt much difference between them when you played the audio trough your speakers while talking
If you'd like more flexibility in your audio interface choices, the Ethos is a great way to go. Looks great on camera too!
Just curious how good is Ethoes in rejecting sound from keyboard, comparing to sm7b.
@@almynotes idk i haven't tried it, haven't gotten one yet

Not sure how flat other tests were but I was careful to only adjust volume, no EQ or other audio filters.
