A perfect run of the recently released demo for Contra: Operation Galuga. This demo contains the 1st stage which is a mashup of NES Contra's jungle and waterfall stage. Lance Bean was an automatic choice, mostly due to visual design. I've played so much as Bill Rizer that I would do anything to change it up. Don't forget to click the link to download the demo and play now!

That alien boss is the worst but now I know you don't have to break it's arms. Thanks!!!
Unless you're super confident in dodging, I don't recommend it
Nicely done. I was trying to do this yesterday.
Thanks very much! You can pull it off as well amigo
At first I was a bit confused at your approach on the last boss but realized that you didn't want to break his arms for a good reason. We'll done. 👍
Breaking those arms is more trouble than what it's worth in the beginning. Once it's health is dwindle then I can be a bit more aggressive.
Giant boss end of Lvl 1 looks alot like Red Falcon himself from the Super C commercials. Interesting.
Good eye! I'm hoping to see a lot of returning bosses. I'm ready for Big Fuzz
Pretty sure thats Gromaides.
@@jeremiahokelley8998That's Gromaides for sure
Thanks for showing off the final boss wont do the absurf bullet hell pattern in the ending if you dont chop off their hands. I couldnt be consisent with my deathless run thanks to that attack pattern. Time to play again later if i got the time!
Yea, dealing with those severed arms is a pain. Especially in arcade mode. Hope you get that deathless run!
Already seeing great gameplay from players. Once the full game comes out there will probably be even more nutty stuff can't wait to see all the crazy setups people use. Also curious did you practice with a health bar first or just trial and error your way with 1 hit kills like classic contra?
I'm classicaly trained with these games so I got 1-hit kill by default. It was a lot of experimenting and memorization. Found a good route though for level 1
@MegaYoYo I'm impressed with the skill you veterans have. I got the collection on switch but only made it through contra 1 with the konami code. I'm absolutely terrible at these games but want to play them more.
Another question, did you find any of the overloads useful or were you just trying to play as close to traditional as possible? I saw an interview with the director saying he wanted overloads to add strategy to the game so was just curious if you think the overloads mechanics will come into play with future runs. Sacrificing specific weapons for barriers or other temporary power ups.
Thank you for the compliment! I'm not a fan of the overload mechanics. The upgraded weapons are really good, especially crush lvl2. It turns into a black hold that sucks up a lot of projectiles. I believe that as long as you have a good and comfortable route with a loadout it's all you need to beat the game. Its the same philosophy to beat Contra 3 on hard mode. Experiment and find what you like @@chozochiefxiii3298
@MegaYoYo Thank you for the insight. I struggle a lot because my skill with 2d games is very lacking. The most recent "hard" game I put time into improving at was doom eternal and I haven't played it in over a year. I don't play many indie games or games going for the retro difficulty (something I want to fix soon) so jumping straight into something like contra is like a wake up call for me. I had a feeling the new overload mechanic might not go over well with veterans, it feels like its more for newer players to get a foot in the door. I was hoping to see them used in high level play however as you said level 2 weapons look like more than enough.
The great thing about Operation Galuga is that it has an easy mode and health bars so you can acclimate. Also, don't feel like you have to jump straight into 1-hit kill mode. Contra as a franchise can be unforgiving.@@chozochiefxiii3298
I really wanted to get my hands-on on the Contra OG demo. It seems this entry's mechanics are greatly expanded, eg. air-dashing.
The new mechanics are from prior Contra games. The air-dash, for example, seems to be from Hard Corps: Uprising.
A lot of the are from prior contra games. It’s still missing a lot of moves from uprising
@@MegaYoYo One of Bill's perks, the invincible ground dash, seems to from Uprising as well. I can't remember if the double jump first appeared in that game too or if Browny's jetpack jump is considered the first double jump in the series.
Hard to remember at the moment. Leviathan had a huge moveset though at the expense of being the 1-hit kill character.@@ultraspinalki11
It looks very good. There is a combined hodgepodge from different parts of the counter. So the characters are taken from everywhere. There is an android Lucy from the PS2 version. There is Dr. Mandrake from the sega version. The probotector is from Europe. In short, I thought it would turn out worse, but this studio makes good platformers. But konami herself has already forgotten how to make games.
There’s a lot of returning characters/bosses. There’s even a human Brad Fang. We get a lot of bosses that are from different installments. That part 2 waterfall boss is from Super C
@@MegaYoYo Yes, it's great. That different enemies, weapons and characters are used here. It would be cool if they added the whole team from hard corps. They will bring back the cool bosses. Like a huge robot on a train when he stopped it with his hands. A huge turtle from contra 3, and my favorite boss. Three robots on the island from the hard corps.
@@shingo693Those are all great ideas. I'm happy Big Fuzz is back (stage 3 boss). I would enjoy seeing some Hard Corps bosses
Not 100% I thought I saw something that looked like a different version of evil snowman miniboss. Hoping for more from Hard Corps@@MegaYoYo
Porunga Island 🏝
I don't get it
Awesome run! The game is great, but sometimes it's hard to see what is going on on the screen. I hope the devs will fix it in the full game.
Thanks a bunch! There were times when I lost sight of my character but it only happened twice
Around the world nor around the globe 😂
What system is this for?. I hope it is for PS5 or PS4 at least.😊
I played on steam but it's on all major consoles
Do Arcade mode, cuz the bosses have new attacks there. It's kinda like an extra harder mode.
I just saw that. I’m def doing another run with proboyector
Matrix and John Rambo finally fighting terrorism together.
Putting an end to the alien scourge
I KNOW somebody is going to make a speedrun of it and I'm I'll have my popcorn 🍿 and my fruit punch kool aid and I'm going to enjoy the show! 😊😅🎉❤
Dude that first level took so much focus. Things can go sideways fast but I hope to have a good route in the final game
@@MegaYoYo yes I hope 🙏 this game comes with a special edition with a CD 💿 soundtrack so I can hear the music 🎶 from the game.
Im hoping for a retro soundtrack option
I thought gonna like Hard Corps Uprising moveset. 😅
It’s close but still needs the few missing options
The character looks small. I even lost track of it couple of times 😅
Yea I lost track too. An outline might help
it lags a bit but good stage
for you? What console are you playing on?
No proper tune, just a generic orchestral background? 😢
I will admit the music is lacking. I’m hoping for a retro option
Same here. Im surprised how they said the partnership they had with the composers were a big deal. I guess its good for the non retro fans and repeats , but man i still prefer a new catchy ost. This and bullet/color readablity was the only thing that really bothers me about this game. But damn i love it. 😌
Stop hating , hater
@@alexevaldezI'm very used to flashing bullets. Fortunately there will be a Contra 4 ost bonus for completing the demo
The music is underwhelming, still waiting for them to create the music magic of Contra 3. But for some reason Konami is stuck recreating Contra 1 music.
Man this game looks so good.
Contra returns.
It’s excellent! Have you tried the demo?
Not a fan of the cheap 3d graphics, looks worse than uprising which must be 15 years old by now. I did laugh when I saw the price
I wish we got a pixel art one. Wayforward kicks it out of the park with that medium. It's fine I guess
@@MegaYoYonot for forty bucks it’s not
The mid-air dash turns me off this game.
There are characters who do not have a dash
doesnt really look like a contra game. doesnt have the rambo/alien inspiration, nor the 90's action movies shtick, and the music sucks Lol. i guess ill have fun anyway, but the double jump, dash and aesthetic feels so wrong..
It's def has that "Wayforward look". Has the same art style as DD Neon. Double Jump, dashes, and more were in Hard Corps: Uprising
Looks pretty generic to me
You gotta play it
Yes, the formulaic essence probably compensates for the uninspired art style.
@@angelnobody7137Feels like a solid Contra game though
Cheater no hps on ur screen. Totally cheated.
heheheheh what?
That's not cheating dude. There is Option which HP Bar mode or 1-hit kill mode.
In 1-hit kill mode will won't show your HP anymore and you will die from any attacks.
