To Mandy,
We grow many other than potatoes, tomatoes and carrots.
Major agricultural Cities are Taif, Al-Madina, Al-Qassim, Al-Hassa, Hail, Al-Jouf and Tabok in the last tow cities we grow also Olives and produce an excellent and Luxurious Olive oil.
Also in the south region in Jazan specifically we grow Coffee beans and many others.
of course not to forget the Saudi Dates. 😉 Have a good time in Saudi Arabia.
I lived in Saudi in around 2015 and shopped regularly in carrefour so this was fascinating. Prices have certainly increased a lot. Carrefour has never been cheap but it’s popular with foreigners. Good variety, English speaking staff, clean and organised etc
I’m from Saudi and I totally agree with you, and I think it’s because of the worldwide inflation
@@FERASX12 well yes it’s worldwide but things like eggs? That has gone up way too much. I used to buy a tray for around 10 Riyals. That’s a 300% increase.

Saudi is reasonably priced compared to its neighboring countries but you also have to keep in mind that the wages aren't as high as in Qatar or UAE. Saudi was even less expensive 10 years ago, and beleive it or not, gas price back then was even cheaper than water which made most things cheaper as well.
Yes, we had heard that prices have risen in Saudi over the past few years, so thank you for sharing this information.
Our wages are also high, but not higher than them. The lifestyle of the Saudis and their preservation of money and trade are better than the Qataris and Emiratis. The Saudis do not live on their salaries only. They have several sources of income.

Colour me odd, but I love these supermarkets' cost comparisons for food products.
My initial reaction is that costs are not that expensive, especially the beard dyes 😂
But, as we all know, locally produced, and most often consumed by locals, products are always cheaper.
And, I concur with other commenters, a big thanks for putting up the prices in so many denominations.
Take care.
It's always interesting to compare prices and see what others have to offer. At least now you know where to go if you are in the market for beard dye. 🤣
One thing that baffled us there was that Australian grown carrots were way cheaper than locally grown ones and surprisingly cheaper than they are in Australia!! How on earth does that work??? 🤔
Glad you enjoyed it. 😊

There is still a lot of unexplored Saudi tourist locations as they are more opening up and the investment power they have Saudi is the power house of this region

Jeddah is cheap but Riyadh on the other hand 💀
I definitely don't agree with this. Keep in mind that residents in Saudi pay the highest VAT (15% while in the rest of gulf it is 5%) it certainly makes a lot of things more expensive than the rest of gulf and yes rent may be cheaper in Saudi, as an expat you get looted considering the dependent fee and visa renewal charges and overall Riyadh is very expensive! Jeddah on the other hand, still comparatively much cheaper (talking about the restaurant prices)

Comparing my grocery bill in Canada vs KSA. My grocery expsnse would be cheaper in Saudi Arabia. Canada has so many ridiculous taxes on food. Like the useless carbon tax to help save the planet and stop climate change. This tax is implemented on sales goods, farmers fuel, farmers products per pound transportation and EVERYTHING. So literally the food you eat has been taxed 5 times before hitting the shelf. So a load of bread (Cheapest no name brand is $3). I am hoping to move back to KSA in the next 5 years. I've lived in Canada my whole life, and under the current inflation, and federal government. It's literally a bankrupt country with ZERO future potential of growth or stability for it's citizens.
That's living under a far left woke privileged primary school teacher as leader for you
You welcome at any time buddy we will be very happy to see you like i said we only have an 15% tax and thats it although it’s a high number for a vat for us but still everything is affordable I’m speaking to you as Saudi I’ve to several countries in Asia and Europe the amount of taxes they have is insane and unfair the purpose of the 15% vat because we faced a huge consequence and challenges when covid came and Ukraine Russian conflict but we now are trying to move forward and prices of groceries are going blow these days
If you’ve lived in Canada your whole life, as you stated, how can you be ‘hoping to move back to KSA’? Good bye you when live, please don’t come back to Canada to collect your CPP, OAS, GIS or access our health care system or education system once you’ve lift.

Carrefour is considered expensive compared to other grocery stores in Saudi. You would’ve found cheaper prices at Othaim Markets. Nonetheless, nice vid 👍🏼
Thanks for the tip! We appreciate you sharing this excellent information 🙏 😁
Im from saudi but I've been studying in the UK for a few years and I find the prices in Saudi to be affordable compared to the UK although it has increased a lot since I was there, except for the imparted products. But if you go to a chemist you will be surprised that many of the products are double or triple the prices abroad, which is why many ppl buy in bulk when they go abroad or order from foreign stores like Chemist Warehouse or Iherb. Anyway hope you enjoyed your time there 😁

The bread is excellent value in Saudi Arabia, which is a big exporter of wheat. I remember I'd just arrived in 1986 and a big deal was done to export wheat to the Soviet Union.

That's so lovely! What is your mother language? We had an amazing time in Saudi Arabia, and we hope you enjoy our other Saudi vlogs:
SAUDI ARABIA Travel 🇸🇦: ruclips.net/p/PLCmNbKU5iMrlRdlxyLurNYxyeJ2SGIcU5
These prices are more expensive then the Arabic local supermarket
That's interesting to know. Thanks 🙏
Are there State Benefits for poor in Saudi?
I have absolutely no idea 🤔
Yes there is. If you Google. Is there a benifits system in Saudi Arabia. It will explain better. 🇬🇧
Also 1 pillar in Islam 🤲 is Zakat which is a version of charity for the less fortunate
Did you find a ATM without a withdrawal fee ?
If your credit card and the ATM bank machine are same bank.. the withdrawal is free if not they will take low fee
you don’t need to withdraw all shops are required by law to accept payment with cards. actually we don’t carry cash anymore.l, personally just keep some cash no more that 100 Riyals in the car just and case.
I'm trying to remember, but I'm pretty sure we'd have mentioned it in one of our KSA videos if we had:

I'm from Canada, I found most items in your video are cheaper in Saudi Arabia then they are here in Canada, some items like eggs and peanut butter, but everything else seems cheaper
That's interesting to hear. We'd like to travel in Canada and understand it can be expensive.
We're getting ripped off.
ولماذا لم تتوقعي يزرعون البطاطس في السعودية ؟!! البطاطس تزرع وغيرها الكثير من الفاكهة والخضروات من عشرات السنين
Because when we think of Saudi Arabia, we think of date palms, sand dunes, and oil fields! That's one of the reasons we love to travel... to learn so much more about different countries and traditions.
yes they are affordable than all western countries. this is true.
I swear, my comment where I said “she’s not cute” is a glitch/bug, it isn’t supposed to be on your video. I had your video on the background when i was watching another video, I thought I commented on the video I was watching. I’m extremely sorry, please understand me, this is a bug, I thought i commented on another video, supposedly (the one i was actually watching)
It's lovely that you took the time to explain about the glitch/bug. Thank you for that.
WOW, watching this in UK, it looks much more affordable than here in Britain at the moment. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! We've heard that food prices have really gone up in the UK, and know that they certainly jumped up in New Zealand!
I am in UK.. I would say..same prices
Thank you very much ..
by the way, bakery is too expensive in Carrefour. you will find better price bread everywhere else
That's great to know. Thank you so much. We love the bakeries there. 😍
SA…King Khalid Military city….1991, all hail the wolf burger!
Excellent!
Note:
- There is no income tax
- Electricity, water and petrol bills are very cheap
- There are no property taxes
" The average salary of citizens is 13500 SR/month = 3600$ " + " Financial support for every citizen monthly 2000 SR/month = 533$ "
Thanks so much for sharing this excellent information 🙏. It's great that there is so much support. 👍
@@FrugalTravellers You're welcome 🤍
0:20 the water quality is superb but the plumbing to most houses are shit, but it can be used for cooking but shouldn't be used for direct drinking
Thank you for taking the time to share this helpful information.
Very affordable, but I am big on quality too. Happy to pay extra if I am getting cleaner, more organic produce. The eggs definitely left me puzzled. How on earth can they substantiate the claims on the packaging with different minerals?! Leads me to question how honest the disclosure on packaging would be.
That's a very good point which we hadn't thought of. We didn't buy eggs in supermarkets there so can't really comment on the quality.
They feed the chickens a specific diet so that the eggs will have a higher amount of omega 3 etc.
They can't make up claims on any products because every product on the shelves must pass SFDA (Saudi
Food and Drug Administratio)
Chicken mortadella in Italy you wouldn't be able to find or even call it mortadella.
Pollodella maybe...🐔 by the way carrefour is always a bit overpriced compare to other Super
even in France.
Such great points. Thanks for sharing this information... turns out everybody knows Carrefour is expensive so we should have gone to a different supermarket.
Although it might seems these are affordable prices it has increased a lot after the pandemic, at least 25-50% to the result of putting VAT and overall inflation,
It's a shame that prices are rising fast and it's making it harder and harder for people.
Thank you so much for this video. Very useful! It is good to have the prices in the main currencies and view the differences in terms of quantity, quality, different brands of different countries.
With the current inflation and people moving around geographically in search of better quality of income and lifestyle, it is becoming more interesting on how to survive and get used to.
Wandering in supermarkets, and street markets, gives you a broad glimpse on their nutrition habits and lifestyle too.
We are happy to hear that you enjoyed this video. Thank you so much for your very informative comment.
Hi. Is that yogurt drink you said with little salt ‘Ayran’? Your sound wasn’t good throughout the video
We might have said Ayran, as we drank a lot of it in the former USSR, the Caucases and the Middle East.
So question: how does a country in the desert have better produce prices than a country like Greece with an abundance of fruits and vegetables so on and so forth? Keep in mind Greece has the lowest wages in all of Europe.
That is a very good question indeed. It's the same in New Zealand, with NZ cheese and butter so much cheaper in Australia. I really don't know how the whole system works.
WOW, I have never been to Saudi Arabia, but it looks like I better bring some food with me when I go! 319.00 (Saudi) for RICE! Thanks for the tour! Very Cool! Thank you for sharing this spectacular video. Liked and SUBBED!
no its 31.90 🤣
We're so pleased you enjoyed this video!
You as well! You are VERY welcome. I am pleased to be a part of your journey. 😁@@FrugalTravellers
