Dance Academy is mainly about the fifteen-year-old Tara Webster - a girl who grew up on a farm in outback Australia. Since she was a little girl she has dreamt of being a dancer and in the series she finally makes it into the National Academy of Dance. It’s known as the best school in the country and she is sure her life is about to be spectacular.
Throughout the series Tara and her friends face the universal challenges of being a teenager and they battle through the minefield of elite dance training. Relationships grow and change as they live side by side in the Boarding House. They each take a different path, but they start to find out who they are and they all dare to chase their dreams.

Sammy’s tribute will always and forever be DA’s best dance! The music, everyone dancing together, the videos playing behind them, it was all perfect and made for the perfect tribute as well as DA’s best dance of all time
It’s beautiful, but Ben disqualified himself to do it. I think it’s a lot more compelling for him to win the competition Sammy didn’t get to finish.
This the best one plus the one where they are all at the water doing the memorial for Sammy
Agree but it pisses me off that Christian walks off the stage when he sees Tara dancing happily with Ben. It’s a tribute to Sammy and the angsty kid made it about himself.

Crazy… how emotional you could be just cause of the dead of a character in a series. Sammys dead is so real. Maybe cause of my young age, when I watched it. My brain can’t understand the difference between real life dead and series dead.
After all these years Sammy's tribute dance still manages to make me cry and break my heart. It's a beautiful scene. 😍🥰

The red shoes number is my favourite and the one that makes me cry (and remember Sammy). That will always be my number 1
Sometimes I really think that Tara was made to perform and not create, but in the end she continued in the dance world
My personal favourite has always been Sammy's national solo. I love his tribute dance but it's his nationals dance that never fails to leave me an emotional wreck!

I saw this when I was like 12 and I was convinced I was a professional ballerina, let’s just say it drove my parents crazy and the forbade me from watching ballet series for like a week after I broke a lamp

Which episode is ben's dance with the balloons that he dances about his cancer? I felt really moved when I first saw that.
Season 2 finale
I'm not sure whether this is the scene you thought of but in 2x16 they get the task to describe themself in a dance. Ben first thinks about telling the cancer story and there is a balloon scene but later decides to do sth different if I remember correctly
