Can i just say, i remember when ur channel was steadily rising at 30k just before covid hit. Since then, however, YOU'VE TRIPLED IN SIZE! Funny to see what quarantine can do, well done man. Btw, love the comparison!
So David, the way you hold it at 7:40, is that why one tripod leg looks different than the other two? do you think they intended to give it a bit more grip for selfie/vlog use?
Knackered gorillapods make great tablet stands 😀 Mine's still serviceable, but that's the main use it gets put to on my desk these days. Surprised you didn't take the head of your old GP and use that with the Apex, then you could have returned the other one. Looking forward to the revamp. Keep up the great work.
One word: Switchpod. I ditched my Joby last year in favor of the Switchpod. I put a ballhead on it with an arca swiss base. Huge upgrade. Joby has been collecting dust ever since.
We've been using the switch pod pro and really love it. The legs are stuck at one angle on it though of course, so you don't have the versatility that something like this would have.
Hey David, I purchased the Joby Ballhead 5K that you had linked, but the threading underneath that is supposed to attach to the PolarPro Apex is only the standard 1/4-20” universal screw. The PolarPro Apex Base is a larger 3/8” thread. Can you recommend a mount that will connect the two?
nice review almost perfect but its also good if like joby that can do lower shot, wrapping on the trees or anyware but its solid and good product i like it
Yeah, the Joby is super clever, but I really prefer a sturdy rig now. Something that I can grab and go and just know that it's not going to bend or fall over. Stoked on the Apex!
I would definitely say that the Polarpro apex is the better one, when you put the head from the other tripod onto the Polarpro tripod you blew my mind 😂 it is definitely the perfect vlog setup!! Hope everyone has a great day! 😁
Have you checked out the Switchpod? That thing looks sweet. Haven't pulled the trigger to try it myself but it seems like a strong replacement for the Gorilla also
I bought the T-shirt,, Thanks for the personal note! Nice touch. I have the same Joby buy maybe I will look into the Apex.. Thanks again.. PS GoPro is coming out with the Hero 9 in October. I think you will like it! 👍
Mavic Air 2 finally making its way into the channel :D Btw, that’s a super sick setup with the APEX and I might consider doing that and adding my 5K gorilla pod head, was wondering tho do you think overtime holding the APEX one handed like that will make the screw/joint loose over time?
Hey David, I bought both pieces but they don't seem to fit together. Is there a specific type of each that you purchased to make sure they are compatible?
Meh, deployment on those legs looks cumbersome. Wish they had a one button solution or a press of a button vs screw. Having to unscrew 3 knobs reposition then tighten 3 knobs just to find out you're a little off balance then you have to screw/unscrew more knobs. Writing that sentence was already tiring, now imagine doing that multiple times per shoot!
I have so many comments. First, I look forward to you getting back to action/travel/daily vlogging. Second, there is no such thing as too many tripods. That polar pro looks dope. I cannot wait to hear how this new rig works for you. Finally, it is not "anal", but "particular". :)
Nah, just buy something like this; www.amazon.com/Neewer-Rotating-Panoramic-Camcorder-kilograms/dp/B071JWMS5J/ - $30 on Amazon. Got one to replace the proprietary head on my GP, woks a treat. Even does the 360 degree rotation thing, just doesn't have the marking. Suspect you could find a version that does.
I just don't know why you creative cats can't just use a GoPro. Seriously. On an intellectual level I sometimes wonder if you vloggers people aren't using a giant SLR you're not taken seriously? Much like if you use only a cell phone to take photos you're not a photographer. Which of course is bs, on both accounts.
Personally I'd get the version without and then get a separate head. There a number of really great ones from Neewer, K&F Concepts, SMALLRIG, etc. Build the exact tripod you want that way.

David! Your so close to 100K. Love the vids, keep up the good work 👍
So David, the way you hold it at 7:40, is that why one tripod leg looks different than the other two? do you think they intended to give it a bit more grip for selfie/vlog use?
Loving the videos dude!
The biggest drawback with the apex is how you have to twist the lock on 3 legs to get it set up. It’s cumbersome and time consuming.
Bruh you have great hair!
This is the second video of you I’ve watched and they’re very well done, subscribed 🙌🏼
your videos are like a breath a fresh air...
I think the switchpod is one you should take a look at. It’s super awesome
That’s very clever! Awesome idea 🙌

Super helpful vid can’t wait for the vlog revamp
Intro was everything !!
Great video David. What are your thoughts on Switchpod vs. Polar Pro?

Yep, I'm going to get the PolarPro and mount the head from my gorilla. Thanks, great idea!!
David, 97k! Damn! I swear last time I looked you were at 30k, how fast did this happen?!! Awesome you're about to hit 100k 🔥

There's an inner thread in the ballhead that comes out to reveal the full 3/8 inch. Use a flat head screwdriver and the 1/4 piece will unscrew👍
@@DavidManningvlog Thank you. You’re awesome!

Have you tried the Switchpod? Looks like for your described use would be ideal.
Great video 👍👌

It will take a lot of T-shirt sales to pay for that A7Siii 🤣🤣🤣 I am calling it now. New vlogging camera lol 😂
That combo is super killer 👏👏 heck even something as stable as the Apex could easily be dropped onto a dashboard and be supportive too!
Hey David, I bought both pieces but they don't seem to fit together. Is there a specific type of each that you purchased to make sure they are compatible?
What Happened to the switchpod?
I have had only terrible experiences with the gorilla pod, but to be fair it was the phone version, and im not sure if its name brand
They're clever, just not sturdy enough for my taste. I really dig the Apex though!

Have to agree with other comments here, how about a switchpod, I have one love it, and cheaper than the Apex. I used it with the Joby ballhead.
How do you think the apex would hold up to the switch pod

Big comment gang
Lovely 👍
man i wish i saw this before i got the apex WITH the ball head
Thanks David for more practical and common sense ideas. Looking forward to the Rode Mic review soon. Still waiting for your email reply, BTW. Yo.
You know you can re-tighten the legs on the Gorillapod right?
can you put it on a slipy hill whit a selfiestick on it?
You should come to utah and I can take you on a climbing trip :) that's pretty adventurous haha
I have a gorillapod large and medium thank you for you tubers but am the best RUclips ever am watching you nerds
Hahahahahahaha..................
Second view!!! polar pro is amazing, but Joby is officially the best FOR VLOGGING!!
Very Casey Neistat esque
But that one time wrapping a gorilla around a branch would have gotten the best shot...
You should check out the Switchpod review by Peter Mckinnon. It's pretty slick pod for vloggers. 😊
hows the apex bipolar pro treating you so far? 🤣
Please make a be a good human waterbottle!!!!!
Hello from slovenia!
DANG IT someone beat me BIG sad
the 5k doesnt stand for 5kg??
Stopped watching as soon as you said you spend "10 minutes straighten them back up" just tell us polarpro apex paid you for this review.
but to get this setup we have to buy a joby gorillapod and a polar pro apex

Can I have the old gorilla pod?
I’m goin to buy the gorillapod just because 😏
The gorillapod 5k holds 11 pounds which is 5kg
First officially 🐭
You beat me wow
@@emmelia665 I was first for the 2 videos before this
To the point video.......
5K says it has an 11 pound rating

11th view, 3rd comment, and 8th like! I love you! you are awsome!
So would you recommend the apex with ball head or without for photography?
Personally I'd get the version without and then get a separate head. There a number of really great ones from Neewer, K&F Concepts, SMALLRIG, etc. Build the exact tripod you want that way.
