I have had my 4" Zy-Ex Ti-Lite for some 25 years now. I am flabbergasted that people are having complaints, such as those mentioned in the video. From the time I first touched the knife, it opened and closed as smoothly as butter. In fact, I once opened it with such deftness that the deputy sheriff I was helping thought it was a switchblade. I showed it to him and he commented that he had never seen a knife open so smoothly. He then wanted to buy one, so I showed him some from behind the counter. He could not decide which one he wanted because they were all so good. There were absolutely no sharp edges anywhere except along the blade's edge. As for the edge, it takes a good to very good edge and holds it quite well for the caliber knife it is. I have some fixed blades from Cold Steel that are suitable for shaving. Some hold that edge better than others, but my Ti-Lite holds as well, if not better than just about any other Cold Steel product. I like the brand because I get good to quite good quality in terms of construction, and edge sharpness and retention for a good price.
It has been a few years since I bought anything new [I have quite the selection already], so it is possibly that quality of their fit and finish has declined. It's just that I've never had any problems with the products I've purchased. I hope this is not the case, but then I am faced with the question of why so many people seem to have a problem with the product. All I can say is that I carry mine every time I leave the house and never had any kind of any problem with it in 25 years.

Its a legend. The ti lite 6 is the only knife i would consider for self defense

How would you compare it to other Folding Italian Style Stilettos? Why? The Ti-Lite is Phil Boguzewski's Folding Stiletto Design, that's based on the Italian Folding Stilettos.
Honestly, it shouldn't be compared to regular EDC Folders. Why? That's not what it is... :-)
A Folding Stiletto is a Fighting or Self-Defense Folder. Being that, it doesn't need "Exotic Powdered Steels" to be exceptional at it's purpose. In fact, you don't want a Fighter to have a brittle Steel; it's a Fighting Knife, it needs toughness over edge holding capability...
The one's I like are the full size Fighters, the Ti-Lite VI. Try looking at it from that stand point...
A Folding Stiletto is like having a Fixed Blade Stiletto Dagger, that you can conceal and carry in your Pocket. :-) It's not meant to be for everyday cutting chores. It's a SDEDC (Self-Defense EDC) Folder.
Myself, I wouldn't want one for EDC Cutting Chores; the Blade Grind isn't good for that. It's designed to excel at piercing It's intened target. And, for that, this Blade Type excels. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

I carry my 6in model sometimes here in Ohio just to scare the shit outta people. It's an instant attention getter from coworkers and such. It's also always in my center console in my truck, just in case I can't reach my carry pistol should the need ever arise. I figure if I can't shoot em, I'll decapitate them.

You can end a fight before it begins if you whip out the ti-lite 6. Thats why I like it. I'm less likely to use it

I just got the newly released (?) Zytel version with black blade, liners, screws, clip. It’s much easier to open than the stainless version from 10 year or so ago. I hate the sharp edges on the little metal flippers; why not like the smooth hilt on the Luzon? Perceptive review. I like it for the relatively light weight. I hope to see a drop point some day. These have better blade retention than the Luzon. I’ve had Luzon accidentally open more than once.

Word of advice - watch the arc when it opens. My 6in has surprised more than one person and either slit their shirt, cut them, or both. They hold it closer to the body like, i dunno, any other damn knife out there, and as that tip comes around it looks for blood and destruction on it's way.

Good quality tools are essential when servicing higher end knifes. I highly recommend Bondhus hex and torx drivers for a US made tool that when used properly (bit fully inserted into fastener) will not mar the finish on the fastener.

Great review. Ive had this knife for a couple of years now and have the same exact problems. That's why i dont carry it very often. Where did you get the brass pivot washers and what size? Also what washers did you use for the thumb stud? Thanks

I this but with the zytel plastic handle, I feel like it opens slowly and not very snappy. Is there a way to make it easier to fold up with the thumb "pin"? Maybe I need to lubricate it

I unscrewed the thumb stud and spaced it up with a few tiny washers from the hardware store. It helps a lot.

Yea try lubing it up a bit and flip it out a lot. Might need some breaking in. You can also try loosening up the screw a bit.

@@knivessportsandadventures9523thanks! I’ve watched your video over 10 times this week, and just ordered the G10 4” version mostly for the hand feel of G10.
Definitely had to sand down my AUS8 version for all the sharpness too, so I’ve been preparing for the nicer version and what I’ll have to do to make it a comfortable EDC carry.
