By just strengthening you back muscles, you are teaching your body to use your back for more and more work which can lead to more injuries, not fewer!

I know that for myself, what I found extremely frustrating as a new climber was not having a feel for things, I could see how to do it the way my boss was telling me to, however I hadn't yet developed the feel necessary to achieve it reliably. Unfortunately, I was working for someone who had been doing tree work long enough he forgot that things require a feel for EXACTLY how far to cut, as well as many other nuances required to get the job done as he saw it in his mind. Had one day he wanted me to chunk out a leaning lead that was over the deck. The top had been roped off already and there was about 5 feet over the deck yet. Wanted me to cut chunks and toss them. I didn't have enough skill with chunking yet to guarantee it. After going in circles a few times with him about wanting to rope it out as i couldn't guarantee not hitting the deck, he eventually said ok. While I've developed a feel for a lot of the things I couldn't do back then, there are still things that I've seen him do on a daily basis that are beyond my reliable, tight quarters capability. Watching August work reminds me of that boss in the sense that he has such a highly tuned feel for things.
August, before you descended the first tree, on your way to the second, did you place a pulley at the top and run your red rope through it? You didn't look up before descending; that's why I'm asking.
