    Excellent video! Our Ice dispenser stopped making ice after we'd left our RV unused for two weeks during holidays. When I got to the step in your video where you pulled out the ice maker with one hand, I knew something was wrong when I couldn't pull ours out with two hands. Used the flashlight to see what was holding it in and saw a solid icicle hanging from the flexible fill tube. Used the hair dryer for 10 minutes to melt enough ice to remove the ice maker, then another 20 minutes to melt all the ice up into the fill valve. Like James Ege (below), I fixed it with no expense -- thanks to your video!

    My Maytag French Door refrigerator (not this exact model, but close enough) stopped making ice. I followed theses instructions and was able fix it. After removing the cover and disconnecting the wiring I had a hard time getting the Ice Maker out of the compartment. What had happened is water had frozen on the bottom of the compartment at the back. I cleaned up the ice, including carefully running a knife under the bottom of the ice maker to free it. The ice maker then slide right out. Once out I found a solid block of ice in the cube making area. There was a problem with the ejection and ore water was added causing the freeze up. I used a dish cloth with hot water to melt the frozen mess (put a towel under the ice maker). After a little clean up I checked the water input line to make sure it was clear of ice. Then reversing the process, putting the ice maker back together. It is now making ice, batch after batch. I would never have tried the repair/fix without this video.

    Great video! It seems like these models are prone to ice blockage. This can happen if the fresh food doors are left open too long-the ice starts to melt in the icemaker and refreezes blocking the fill tube. It can then overflow due to the blockage. I did this a couple of times filling the box with groceries and ignoring the 'door open' alarm chime. If the refrigerator is not leveled properly or if the rails for the icemaker are not level with the cabinet, the icemaker will not fill properly because the level of the water will be off. Again, this will cause a malfunction. Level the refrigerator with the ice maker mounting rails. There seems to be some issue caused by the water filter also. If it isn't seated 100%, water flow to the ice maker is somehow disturbed. Remove the filter and check to make sure the tiny plastic pins in the filter 'seat' move freely. I had one jam which somehow prevented the water to flow to the ice maker. A clogged filter (I suppose) might also cause this issue.

    This is not some new fangled ice maker. The T and H test ports are UNDER the heater thermostat. You just have to remove that to get it to go through the test run of the ice maker.

      What does it mean when you bypass V and L, you hear the pump click on but not water comes out the hose?

    • @mrtodd3620
      @mrtodd3620 4 года назад

      @@timothygee8566 There is no pump. What you are hearing is the water valve actuating. If no water comes out, then there is no water supply to the valve, or the valve is not working correctly, or there is a blockage from the valve to the final water tube, which can include a water filter and water tank, depending on model. You have to use detective work to figure this out.

    I replaced the water inlet valve and the dual inlet valves due to the failed continuity readings. I waited 48 hrs and still no ice. I also felt no water in the tray, so I thought the icemaker water line was clogged, and waited 48 hrs, and still no ice. Before I did all this I carried out the diagnostic tests you showed, and all systems were normal. Water pressure is normal in back and the water dispenser. Icemaker dispenser sounds normal. Any suggestions?

    Let me help many of you out where this gentleman failed to do so with the easiest first step that if I could wager would help many of you as it just did me.
    My ice make had water to the solenoid valve but would not produce ice. Before you start tearing your refrigerator apart try and simply UNPLUG the thing from the wall, wait maybe 30 seconds and plug it back in. If you have no mechanical issues or parts failure this should recycle/restart the vast majority of units out there. Another thing to look at is your filter. Some units might lock out all water usage if your refrigerator detects a bad filter. I am not 100% sure on this but it sounds feasible right??
    No offense to this nice gentleman in the video. In my estimation it's always best to start with the easiest solution first and progress from there...

      Better tests: Using a multimeter set to volts, put one lead into L and the other to N (or a metal screw nearby), hold the door switch closed, look for 120 volts on the multimeter. Test for water: jump L to V on the ice maker module, close the light switch, and listen for water valve, and watch for water dropping into funnel.. If you have power, and if you have water, but no ice, replace the ice maker.

    You did not replace any parts but just removed ice maker and then put it back. You said it was fixed. So, what on earth was the problem? Was the filter cup blocked by the ice? I had the similar problem, no ice. After removed the ice maker and put it back, the next day the ice maker made the ice again. I have no idea what the problem was but it was just fixed by simply resembling the ice maker.

    I would say that was helpful but all it showed was how to take it out, no real troubleshooting ideas. He took it out and basically put it right back in, just removed an ice cube. So did the ice maker work again after that ice cube was removed? I guess I'd like to know some other solutions if that simple cube removal didn't do the trick. For instance, what else do you think it could be?
