I did originally but I hate seeing them in other sites so I took them down. Mine are add free. I don’t need the money for this. All shot and edited on a small iPhone 7. Uploaded on Solomon island internet. So lucky they even made it out!
Amazing video sir. Your video should be shown in every school during history class as opposed to kids looking at black and white photographs. Kudos you for bringing the battlefield to life.
Hope you read this Dave as I am very late to the party but am really learning quite a lot from your boots on the ground classroom. From my deep interest in preserving US revolutionary and civil war battlefields it is sobering but still enlightening to be able to still see the remnants of a terrible campaign.
Read about these diversionary attacks in Gen Twining's book "No Bended Knee." He was the division operations officer at the time. A great book on the battle, lots of detail not found in other books I've read.
Yes an important battle ignored as William Bartsch puts it. This was one small battle area that is basically the same as it was in 42 and I hope I gave it credit.
Wow. Glad I was able to share where it occurred. I have a Facebook page titled the same as here. If your able go there and send me a PM if you want to know more. I would like to hear more about him.
Thank you for your video's. They put how difficult living and fighting in the jungle was. Only thing you don't show is the mosquito's which sadly got the best of my father when he was there. He was evacuated in Jan 1943 suffered with Malaria after effects for the rest of his life.
I appreciate the time and work it took to put these videos up. I love Military History... started at Gettysburg when I was 8 years old. Just grabbed me and never let go. Grew up with friends that looked up to Mike Jordan, Bo Jackson (lol) and the like. I was looking in the other direction up to people like Ed Bearss (Marine wounded at Cape Gloucester and Alive at 96 Yrs.). I'm ranting.... Thanks man... hard to find videos like this. You explain so well too. Easy to follow. Know of any other WW2 Battlefield videos like yours??
Jim Bo'S thanks buddy. There are a few out there I think. I haven’t found as many in detail. Guadalcanal was a 6 months fight so I had plenty of sites to talk about.
Great videos - thank you for posting. Do you know the composition of the 'Kuma battalion' that took part in this diversionary attack. which battalion(s) and Companies of the 28th infantry regiment participated in this battle?
They were the 2nd echelon Col Ikki was suppose to wait for. The CO was Major Mizuno, 1st and 2nd rifle companies, AT Company, 8th Independent AT Company, regimental gun company, engineer platoon and ammo squad.
Do you have a recommendation for a good book about Guadalcanal that someone with your interest level appreciates? I really enjoy your videos. They remind me of my days wandering about US Civil War battlefields. Yours is the first place I've ever seen that shows the real ground of the battles in Guadalcanal. Thank you.
Guadalcanal - Walking a Battlefield Thank you for the video. My two boys Great Grandfather was with Carlsons 2nd Raiders. Your video will help them understand and visualize what he went through when they read his autobiography.
Appreciate what you did in all these videos. I watched yours and then watched this historical footage of some brush clearing for fields of fire etc...ruclips.net/video/rV_8GQi3gMA/видео.html and then went back and tried to match the areas you showed. I think I got a few. But anyway, thank you for honoring those who sacrificed and fought the Pacific War.
I can’t catch everything you publish, but really appreciate everything you do persevere to capture these memories and landscapes.
Thank you sir for sharing this and the other videos.
My pleasure. They are made for educational purposes and for those who would really appreciate it. This particular video is one of my favorites.

These videos are epic. Thank you for your hard work, grass cuts, and bug bites.
Thank you loved the video so cool actually seeing the ground this historic fight was on.
Your videos are FANTASTIC!! THANK YOU for taking the time and effort to do this. Utterly fascinating.
Another fascinating battlefield tour Dave. Very hard to imagine the savage fighting which took place in this serene area all those years ago.
Amazing video sir. Your video should be shown in every school during history class as opposed to kids looking at black and white photographs.
Kudos you for bringing the battlefield to life.
I love this insights , onsite about almost forgotten sacrifices....
Great map and pictures, thanks
It's a sin that these incredible videos about world changing events don't have more views
Thanks but only intended for those who would really appreciate them.
Thanks again, much appreciated. Thanks for recommending Franks book, will get it.

Yes read you loud and clear. I’m so glad you are enjoying these. This particular battle is one of the best preserved sites on Guadalcanal.

Fantastic video! Thank you for sharing. My great uncle Private First Class Thomas S Pilleri was killed in this battle.

Thanks, didn’t even know about this segment of the battle.
Not many do. It’s one of those lost to history parts of the campaign. Overshadowed by Bloody Ridge.

The best overall one would be Richard Frank’s Guadalcanal.
Thanks, I’ll find a copy.
We’ve all had ideas about how the terrain was during these battles but your reconnaissance helps tremendously to add clarity.
Any info on Thomas Pilleri? He was a marine killed at that listening post. He is still MIA

i love these videos
It is amazing the central truth of taking and keeping of the high ground has been around forever.
Thank you sir! Is the foliage just as thick now as it was back then? Hard to imagine fighting in jungle like that.
Just as thick.

I bet that ditch is actually a trench line.
I have the 1944 map and it’s part of the navy hospital site.
I will have to read that book.
Sounds like there is alot of bugs there
davy1458 plenty
By that time I am guessing the Marines had their machine guns registered on the wire and when they heard that wire snipping the rained hell on them.
David Harris that would be correct.
So educational.
Thanks

Yes that’s some great classic footage.
I knew you were a Marine by the way you talked. 2/1
Not hard if you know what to listen for. I think we speak in code at times without knowing it. Good programming!
