I agree with you about the film. But the packaging is really bad and won't hold up. They should have just used the nice clear case like they do for everything else. They look great on the shelf and they really hold up.

I just watched it last night. Totally agree with you- LOVED IT. This edition is so nice too. Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to see the movie.

Great haul, as always! I added a few of them to my wishlist. I think I'll probably pick up Trainspotting during the next Criterion sale, though I'm not a fan of the packaging, either. I wish Warner Archive would have a 50% off sale. I guess they have less wiggle room in their pricing than Criterion does. I hope all continues to go well with Mala. Take care.
Hey Steve. I think Trainspotting is still well worth the pickup. Great movie, nice transfer and just good all around. The packaging is just terrible. Mine is already tearing and I'm really careful with my things so that says a lot. I hope they just change to the plastic cases again.
I hear you about wanting a Warner Archive sale. I have a list of titles I'm looking to get. Maybe I'll do my WA collection video this week. I like that label.
Mala ended up back in the hospital Thursday but she's home and doing much better. They changed her medicine and did an MRI to locate the exact issue. The Neurologist assured me it's one that will heal with time, rest and the right medicines. I'm just happy to have her home with us.

I’m a giallo fan but The Psychic is one I’ve missed. I just heard a interview where Quentin Tarantino was raving about it.
It's so good if you like that kind of movie. QT had great taste in movies and I typically like things he recommends. I hope you get to give it a watch. 🙂
Nice haul! I remember watching The Day After and Threads. I also remember a movie called Testament. I haven't seen any of these movies in YEARS.

I'm going to watch Threads and then The Day After again and see if I'm a mess or not. 😂😂 I'm terrified by things like nuclear war but then again, who isn't? Still should be a good doubler header. Breaking the Waves has a heavy emotional punch. Maybe too rough for those not into that sort of stuff. My favorite by Lars von Triers is Dancer in the Dark. I wish that would get a 4K or at least a Blu-ray.
I love Lars Von Trier but I definitely agree that his films are not always for everyone. I think some are more accessable than others because he definitely liked to push the comfort level of the viewer and sometimes it can feel too far. Maybe that's why I enjoy him so much. 😂😂

I too picked up Oldboy, probably my third version. I pre-ordered The Chaser from Umbrella. Only have dvd on this so had to get it. Love Audition as well.
That Trains potting kind of reminds me of Criterion's Wong Kar Wai set which is a bit too oragami for me, but love the films. Oh and my hopes are with the puppers! I too love my pup child.
Hi friend. Yep, I ordered Chaser as well because I'm coming from the DVD and it's such a great movie.
You nailed it with the comparison to the Wan Kar Wai set but I'm with you and I grabbed it anyway because how can you pass on those movies?? You just can't. I moved my two Trainspotting discs to regular cases and I'll keep the packaging next to it. At least I don't have to worry about getting the discs in and out now.

I love Dellamorte Dellamore! I’m grateful to have it on 4K. Also, I like how the slipcase looks like a 1990s romance paperback novel. Clever.
It's such a great movie and they did an amazing job with the packaging. I totally agree with you. The transfer was amazing and blew me away.

Hi friend. I kind of expected that Enys will require a few tries to kick in; based on what I've read. I'm up for it though because I do like those kinds of movies that require some work because when you do connect with it- wow.

Just watched Threads on the Criterion channel. It's very good. Liked it a lot.
That's what I'm hearing. I'll most likely watch it over the weekend. Now that my dog is home and safe I'm better to watch things that could traumatize me. 😂😂😂 Crazy, I know. But I have heard nothing but good things about the movie.

I like the Arrow UK Carrie artwork.The silhouetted figure with the glowing eyes and glowing orange background is cool.
It is really nice artwork. I guess I'm just stuck on the original because I've seen it for so many years. I remember being so focused on it every time I saw the VHS in the video stores. So much nostalgia. Either one works though because they did a great job with the new art.

I have the Raid Redemption steelbook but I haven’t watched it yet. I’ve heard people raving about it for nearly a decade.
Same here. I've seen The Raid but I'm not sure if this is the same thing. I've lost my mind with so many movies to keep up on. 🤯🤯🤯 I've heard it looks amazing and the movie is supposed to be great. We're trapped in with a decent snow event today so I might give it a look and report back.

About Schmidt is a good one. I haven’t seen it in about a decade, but I recall a answering machine scene cracked me up. Everything Alexander Payne has done is great. My personal favorite is Nebraska but they’re all damn good.
I'm with you. Nebraska is without a doubt my favorite from him. I also really enjoyed The Descendants and I'm not the biggest George Clooney film but I thought he was great in that one. 🙂🙂

I still need to watch that one. I had some review things come in that i needed to check out. I've seen The Church but it's been so long that it will be like a first watch again. I'm looking forward to it and I'm sure the 4K will look great. 🙂🎈

I agree with you on that one and they typically do use a case. Recently they've been doing these flimsy cardboard things though. Not sure if that's going to be their thing for LE. I would hope not though. I guess we'll find out. Ugh

Sick doggies always take precedence over everything else. We understand that. We own a long backed half Doxie, and back problems are always a concern. Hope your girl gets better soon.
Thanks friend. She ended up back in the hospital Thursday and we picked her up Friday evening. She's got a small herniation on the underside of her spine on one disc. The Neurologist said these are the ones that typically heal themselves over with 6-8 weeks of strict rest and meds. So that's what we're doing. She's still able to walk, void her bladder, etc. So we consider those our small but large victories. I'm just grateful she's happy and no longer in pain. Thanks for understanding. ❤️

That Going to Pieces documentary is so good!😊 that used to play on the Starz channel so much back in the day; I’ve probably seen it half a dozen times.

Stephanie, I would like to suggest the Irish gothic horror movie called The Lodgers (2017). It involves a cursed family, twin brother and sister, living in a haunted house. They have to follow 3 rules to keep the curse at bay. As for why I bring it up is I just saw the Blu-Ray listed on Hamilton Books for $5. You can't go wrong at that price.

I don't get what is wrong with the Trainspotting packaging
Well mine has already started to rip where you take the movies out so it's not going to hold up very well. Also, the sliding of the discs against the harder cardboard isn't the best way to house the discs as they can easily scratch. The clip in is a much better solution. I just don't see this kind of packaging holding up over time, which is a shame because it's a great release otherwise. I've heard other folks complaining about the same thing.
Criterion had issues with the packaging on All About Evea few years ago and they changed it and sent new ones to everyone who had the ordinal packaging. I feel like they'll end up doing the same thing here. They're great about correcting things like this.

Yep. I got a little backed up so there were some I'd forgotten from other months and needed to catch up. But the hauls make me sit and watch them since they're out which helps keep the watch pile from becoming overwhelming. I like to keep up with watching what comes in.

No worries friend. I love reading comments. I've just been a bit behind in answering because of dealing with my little, Mala.
She ended up back in the hospital Thursday due to pain so they kept her overnight and did an MRI. They found the exact issue and assured me it will heal with time, rest and the right medicines. They changed her entire treatment plan (medicines and all) and she's home now. 100% better than before. I'm just happy to have her home and comfy. She's the best girl.
