I know you've captured me when I become conscious of breathing again as you repeat the title at the end. I look forward to many more breath- suspended moments.. Thank you for sharing your amazing, thoughtful imagination
Asimov once said that science fiction allows the author to write about basic human traits, while in a malleable environment to accentuate or make subtle, those traits (paraphrased) I hope you recovered well from creating, delving into, and experiencing, Barletby's alienation from normalcy, that comes from extreme life experiences
@@RoweLit seriously man i just found ur channel last week, im now going through your whole channel after i finished all ur more populsr longer ones. Your efforts are very much appreciated and your stories kick a$$ and they really grasp my attention and make me think this clever guy! I did not see that coming... man there great keep it up!
I've certainly had my share of down times, Maurice. But I don't think you can draw conclusions about this story without its sequel: "The Rings of Floriston."
I am really enjoying your stories. Thankyou so very much. Sadly I am not listening to them in order. I just listened to the rings of floriston. Which perked my ears as I knew who Heder was. I was hoping to get to explore more of florister in that one but still enjoyed Bartleby story in that one. Even more now that I have listened to a bit of his back story. So as my culture would say. Cheers to you sir
Cheers to you, Bruce! The funny thing is that I wrote them all out of order too, so I'm not sure there is such a thing as a correct order 😂 The important thing is that you're enjoying them! Many thanks for that 🙏
Here now Mark CEN CA weird I keep finding ones I have not heard but theres no reason to my choices of course I'm a mental health issues guy 😮 albeit a high functioning one
Hi, Mark! I suspect most of us are, just to varying degrees and at different times in our lives. This one has a sequel "The Rings of Floriston" if you haven't checked it out yet. This isn't the end for Bartleby!
I see you had the benefit of knowing Bartleby had a happy ending awaiting him after this. I felt so sorry for the poor guy after writing this I felt compelled to write him a love story afterward 🙂
I don't know. Is RUclips running ads on my videos? Because I am not a partner and am getting no revenue from this channel. Literally $0. It's news to me that there are any ads on this channel if they're there. Would you be so kind as to confirm whether there are ads for you?
@@RoweLit had to run some errands so pulled up your video on my phone. An advert to even get the video to start, then 3 or 4 ads over the 8 min i listened to before i just shut it down.
@@butterybiscuit346 Whoa! Thanks for letting me know, BB. I appreciate it. I had no idea that was even going on. I looked at my settings yesterday and (at least as far as I could tell) I can't change ad settings, because monetization isn't turned on for me unless I become a partner. I'm not sure there's anything I can do here. However, I do post a POD version of every story on my website and Substack: perowe.substack.com, and those don't have any ads if you want to listen that way. Sorry to hear this.
The title reminds of a joke my son told me when he was little.
Q: Why is 10 afraid of 7?
A: Because 7 ate 9.
“Bartleby, the Scrivener” is one of my all-time favorite stories.

Thanks Cecille! Happy to share 😃 and grateful you're enjoying 🙏
I really like the perspective this story gives with living in different time periods.
Thanks, John. That has always fascinated me how much we're blind to the lives of the people who came before us.

Cheers, Sailor. As a solo sailor, I'm sure you can relate at least a little to the plight. Per usual, Asimov was right 😂
