Loved this tutorial! I would love to see a tutorial on something like the bird that you have with your watercolor brushes. And also on an urban landscape watercolour/sketch.
Love this! Especially how you turned it from monochromatic to multi-colored. Thanks so much for sharing. I would love to see videos on creating loose watercolor florals, like the one that comes with your brush pack. How to create those organic shapes for the petals, etc. Do you use a reference photo? Thanks, again!
Thank you for your comment and suggestion. I usually use reference photos when I am making realistic illustrations. For painting loose florals I tend to use just my imagination. 😉
Wonderful tutorial. What's the best way to print digital watercolour so it looks good/authentic? I tried on matte photo paper and it looks okay, but I was wondering if there was a better way and do you leave the paper texture visible for printing?
Thank you! 🥰 In my opinion, you get the best results when you turn off the visibility of the paper layer and print the illustration on watercolor paper. Depending on the paper you use, you may have to make some changes to the colors, opacity of your layers or/and blend mode. Although, often times it looks good without making any change. 😊
Hi Lilian, So glad to hear that you like the tutorial! I can’t wait to see your version. Please tag me @lettieblueillustrator on Instagram so I can see it. The Essential Collection include 12 watercolor brushes and a handbook. The paper, canvas and wall texture brushes are included in this bundle: gumroad.com/l/LBWatercolorEssentialAndSeamlessTextureBrushes 😉
Do you mean when we create the masking tape? If so, you just have to create a new layer, name it “Watercolor”, fill it with black, reduce the size of the black area, tap on the watercolor layer with two fingers to select the layer content, with that selected tap on the watercolor layer, create a layer mask, and clear the watercolor layer to get rid of the black square. Once you have done that, make sure you are on the watercolor layer before start painting. Hope this helps. 😊
@@LettieBlue thank you, I'm obviously doing something wrong. Still can't get the black box with white borers to show up in the mask layer. Thank you for the tip, I'll keep trying!
There are many ways to do this, so why don’t you try this one? 😊 Let’s see. Create a new layer and name it “watercolor”, tap on it and create a layer mask. Tap on the layer mask, and when the menu appears, tap on invert. Your layer mask thumbnail should look black. Now, tap on the selection tool, then rectangle, and make a rectangle tapping and dragging on your canvas. The rectangle should cover about 2/3 of your canvas. Drag and drop white inside the selection. Now, you should see the background of your layer mask thumbnail black and a white square in the center. Let me know if this works for you.

Hi Lettie, is the paper texture included in your Essential Collection? I am a beginner in watercolor and love your tutorial.

@@LettieBlue I got them and they are just amazing brushes. Thank you!
That’s awesome! I’m very happy to know that you are having fun with them. Yay! 👏👏👏🥰
Hi Lettie. Are there any small steps missing between creating the mask and painting within the border? I cannot get that step to work for me.

@@LettieBlue that option worked! thank you!
@@veronicap2569 I had the same problem because I had Color Fill turned on in the select menu, once I turned that off it worked.
You go way to fast. Slow it down so we can follow what’s going on.
You can slow down the video tapping on the cogwheel. 😉
