    Hi there! In this video I'm sharing with you a painting process of this relatively complex still-life arrangement of sunflowers and additional elements.
    I had a bit of a hard time with this one, and it's a great opportunity to see me struggle a bit 😉
    In addition, I am aware I changed quite a lot from the reference. This is mostly due to me having to work on, and improve my skills.
    I would have probably wanted to better preserve that brightness of the yellow petals, as well as the shadow nuances and the oil lamp. But this is another step in the way!
    Here's a link to the reference photo:

    Great tutorial Liron. Though most long tutorial videos are frowned upon, yours are never the case, for most of us, simply because your content is what we are looking for....such as, when we run into the very issues as you, you don't edit out the troubleshooting to solve them. Most "content creators" think that hiding their faults is what views seek...it's so NOT! You progress is seen throughout all of your process. That's why for me, your content has helped me to trust that I can trust to pay for your courses. So thanks for being transparent in your content.

    Loved watching this. That was a lot of work! I enjoyed and learned from watching the progress. BTW,, you don’t talk to much and I don’t think you need to slow down either. I’ve watched a few videos and sometimes I struggle with the slow talkers and often end up moving on because they are so slow. To each their own but I like your style.

    Another terrific tutorial, Liron. Thank you for your generosity in sharing all your thought process as well as your manual process of painting. I wonder if you've tried wetting the background in stages and painting it up to the edge, for an even darker wash? It gives you time to cut around all those little shapes in the edges. If you've tried this and discarded it, would you mind sharing why you don't use this technique? Thanks again.

    I love watching you out of your element like this, I love seeing your techniques and learning curves. This is a typical scene I would do, and I've only in recent years been attempting them in watercolor but seeing your process and the way you approach a scene like this is just so interesting and enjoyable to watch. Cheers my friend xo

      So happy to hear 😁
      I think it really is useful for others to see, and also for myself!
      I can definitely learn and improve from watching my own processes, perhaps after a while - with fresh eyes (:

    I thought this picture looked familiar. I remember that I tried this one last year, and it WAS a nightmare! It ended up in the bin. I really like your approach. Using the spray gun to blur the edges is something I am certainly going to try. Anyway, your painting turned out great, despite all your struggles. Great job! (Those "pumpkin things" are called gourds). :)

      It's a great reference, but misleadingly complex.
      I think I said gourd a couple of times - lucky guess! 😂

    I can easily tell MGraham paints in my pallet. They're the ones that aren't hard and cracked.

      Haha, that's interesting!
      Do you live in a dry climate?
      Because mine very seldom crack, even the non M. Grahams.

    Large area dark backgrounds can be a nightmare!

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  4 года назад +1

      Haha YESSSS, looking back at this I should have perhaps used an even larger brush!
      Sometimes you need to treat it like a smaller painting haha, increase the size of everything.
      The only major difference is you have to mix more water regardless! (:

      @@LironYan Hi Liron, in case it might be useful, i live in Argentina and i get Saunders blocks from Jackson's in England, so i guess you should be able too. Shipping is not too expensive. Also they sell a test de pack with 12 quarter sheets 100% cotton from the all major brands and weights you might want to test... Hey maybe comparing those sheets can be a great topic for a tutorial!! (i don't work for Jackson or anything like that). Cheers and thanks for this video bro 👍

    Liron, I'm not using A TON of water in my paintings, but my paper always warps. Help lol

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  4 года назад

      Interesting!
      What brand are you using, as well as weight?
      Did you try taping the paper?
      What commonly happens is that the paper takes some time, but will eventually stretch back, especially if taped properly.
      A hair drier can significantly speed the process.
      Let me know!

      I disagree that he talks too much. I like hearing him think out loud. It's helpful to me, anyway.

    • @sallywright5503
      @sallywright5503 4 года назад

      I also disagree. One of the reasons I watch him so much is because he doesn’t drone on and on, and he gets to the point. We all react differently to teachers though and Liron’s style works great for me. Peace ✌🏼
