Blanton Sr. Chair in History at the University of Texas at Austin. They discuss his latest book entitled, Founding Partisans: Hamilton, Madison, Jefferson, Adams and the Brawling Birth of American Politics. Professor Brands recounts the trails and tribulations surrounding the early years of the U.S., the battles over the size and scope of the federal government and its power, and how the formation of parties, or factions, was inevitable.
