This was the same year she won World XC by about 200m and broke the 5000m WR by 10 seconds. And here she shows that she can outsprint Eastern Europeans too?!! That's just too good. If she hadn't had an injury the next year in 1986 she might have gone on to be the greatest of all time. What a talent!

Totally agree, Peter. My heart breaks when I think of her '86 season. She was poised for greatness.
It's worth noting that this is the same track THAT COE ran his most important... and dare I say most poignant RACE THE Olympics 1500m 1980 !!!!!!!!
