No matter if it is a cheap instrument. If it is well made, feels comfortable to you and you like how it sounds and how it looks, that is all you need.
Absolutely 🙌
Late to the party but it also allows you more coin to perhaps upgrade to some quarter pounder pups or emg geezer butler depending on what you want and upgrade the bridge as well I prefer high mass like a badass 2 or even a fender high mass
Great review, honestly such an underrated channel. This production quality is amazing. Keep up the great work!
Thank you SO much! I love video work and all things bass so just getting started putting the two togehter haha. Thank you very much
Agreed!
Jonny Dibble bro is this indonesian made? I’m planning to buy one. This sounds good mate!
My first bass was a 2008 Vintage Modified Jazz Bass that I still gig with regularly to this day!
It's hard to justify buying a more expensive instrument anymore when a few upgrades on one of these will get you something virtually indistinguishable from something twice the price.
Great video.... subbed!
I'm amazed that you only have 166 subscribers. Really high production value and a really enjoyable video. You've earned a sub man!
Thank you so much Jared! Trying to hit the ground running 😁
@JMS WH and very well deserved!
9.8k subs now, and still underrecognized!
Tone off sounds great for certain genres. Those of us that play multiple genres and/or use more than one playing technique would love to hear it with the tone at multiple levels.
Thanks for the comment/feedback!
Bro a complete eye opener an amazing review💪
Thank you mate! Cant wait to review the new pickups in there
Squier, wear it with pride!
I made it 30 seconds into the video, heard the tone of the bass, feeling the groove and noticing the quality of the video, then smashed 'like' quite hard. Another 10 seconds and the 'subscribe' was an obvious click. Excellent video!
Then you sir, made some excellent decisions today 👌 thanks man!
This exact model was my first bass i started playing in spring 2023. Its odd how quickly these things multiply i already have 3 (A Yamaha BB350 and a Rickenbacker 4003) but this is my main girl for sure. They are a joy to play.
Actually, the tone knob is one of the best things on p basses, if you play with them you can find some useful tones. For example, you can do the treble trick by turning up the treble on the amp and turning down the tone knob, that way you can control highs on the amp, and if it is a good tone cap highs sounds a little different on halfway.
Thank you so much for making this review Jonny, it's helped me loads with my search for a new bass, I think you've got me convinced this is the one to go for and it's highly likely that by the end of the day i'll have one ordered! Also, great work on the video edit / production, very professional, looking forward to seeing what you do next!
Thankyou so much! In hind sight I wish I had tuned down a bit more with the thicker strings but it truly is an absolute work horse.
I'm very tempted now to sell my Fender HH tele for a HSS Classic Vibe strat!
@@JonnyDibble I've not played a classic vibe strat but I own a classic vibe 50s tele and I really love it! :)

@@caseypayne5138 not sure what I expected as the bass is meant to resemble a 60s look and sound. Luckily it still sounds great! Thankyou dude! 😁
Great review, I enjoyed it. The sound and the tone of this bass is amazing. I'll probably buy it. Greetings from Peru!
Thanks Joaquin! Its an amazing bass 😁
Nice video. Just picked up this same bass last week. Been playing guitar for 15 years and finally decided it was time to step into the bass world. I also judged Squier owners back in the day lol. This bass completely reversed my opinion on the brand. Your video was great. You gained a subscriber. If I had to nitpick, I’d want to see more of the bass in your shots.
Thanks Alex! It's a great bass. I've got the new pickups now, just waiting on a custom scratchplate 😁 I'll be doing another video once this is all ready and compare the pickups. Thank you for the feedback! I'll definitely include more in the next video. Cheers!

I recently purchased the same bass above. Being Classic Vibe used to be Made in China...I wondered how this 2020 version was going to compare. Well I was blown away on how well this is made and sounds..love it....Subbed
The affordable market has come such a long way. Love it! Thanks 😊
I have been playing for many years, I have owned far more expensive basses in that time. I bought this bass about 4 months ago, and I love it so much because I wanted a no-frills passive bass. I play a wide variety of music and it fits my needs perfectly. Any genre, both finger and pick....I think you'll love it too!
Great video and great bass! I have the '50s version and I love it, Greetings from Italy

youre a sick bassist man i just bought mine lol
Thank-you 😁 Awesome! Its an amazing bass. Modded it in my recent video 😁
Dude just bought a brand new classic vibe P bass “tele” style last week and it is the nicest bass I’ve ever owned among Am, Am Del., Mex. Fenders, Ibanez Soundgear, RIC’s! Not a single complaint, fit and finish perfect, sound amazing, and somewhere around two or three on tone knob it gets this sweet boosted almost 60’s session Carol Kaye sound! Volume always cranked and I play honky tonk, bluegrass, southern rock, and Irish trad. I actually bought this because my upright was killing me on all night honky tonk and rockabilly session every Friday from 7-12 sometimes as late as 3! Love it!!
whenever I am planning to purchase a new bass I tend have a list of youtuber/channels to look for a review/ bass demo and your channel is included on my list :D
That's awesome man. Thank-you! 😄
Nice review and I love the way the bass looks and sounds. However, I have a Squier Affinity Precision Jazz Bass with EMG GZR pickups installed and it sounds incredible! I usually have the jazz pickup turned off, so that I can get the full precision sound out of my bass. However, the jazz pickup is always there when I need it if a song requires a heavier tone on top of the precision sound. It's my first real bass and I love it! I don't think I'll ever get rid of it, especially since after all of the hard work I've put into modifying my bass too! ❤
Amazing! I'd love to see it. If you have instagram, send me a photo and I'll share it and add it to my "Sexy Basses" highlight 😁
@@JonnyDibble Thank you! I've sent you a photo of it on Instagram. So, hopefully, you should have it now 😊
how do u get that classic p bass tone maybe i just have a bad amp but im really struggling to get that tone you have
Mate, real nice video. Just bought a squire bass and was looking through random squire stuff. I came across your vids. Loved your presentation style. Signed up. I've had a lovely fender 70 p bass about 20 years ago. I've had several other bases over the years but recently saw a squire p bass in my local shop and thought I'm having that. Took it home, thought it felt like so natural and comfortable. Plan to mod it. Can you do a vid on mods for p basses and give your honest opinion on what to replace and that. Keep up the good work
Amazing! Congrats on the new bass 😁 They're great fir the money. I've actually done a few mods since! Changed the scratchplate, sanded the neck and changed the pickups out for Fenders before putting EMG Geezer Butlers in there! 😁 Thanks very much!!
You’ve earned a new subscriber!:)
Woohoo! Thanks very much 😄
This bass judged by this video definitely checks off many of the boxes when it comes to selecting a p bass. Also I usually don't like a distorted channel at all for bass BUT this example is the exception. Really fits well with these pickups.
Could you do a video where you go over your pedals and your recording setup? It seems quite complicated and I'm very interested
Of course! My setup is actually really simple so would be cool to shed some light 💡
Nice demo!! Makes me wanna buy this and try upgrading the pickups! Maybe try the classic vibe 70's jazz bass?
Thanks! I've got the fender pickups now, just waiting on a new custom pick guard to arrive before shooting a comparison! 😊
I just bought one of these and I love it 😁👍🏻
Great demo thank you for omitting the funk slap. I've ordered one for my punk project.
I'm so happy I subscribed. 🙏❤️
Me too 😍
thanks for the informative video! i'm highly considering buying this now but wanted to ask do you think this bass is too big for someone who is 5"1 tall and has relatively small hands?
No worries!! I think it would be suitable. The neck is nowhere near as wide or thick as a regular P bass

Love your videos man, just subscribed! I know it’s preference but is the build quality on this on par with an Ibanez sr300e, better or worse? I’m thinking about switching from my soundgear back to a p bass.

Hi Johnny! Do you think the neck is easy for beginners or should i go for a jazz bass? I love the P sound and i love that white color but i've seen that nut is 1,69"" so i dont know if it will be too big for me. Congrats for your channel and thanks so much!!
Hi! I don't think these necks feel that big - I was always a jazz neck guy and loved the neck on this 😁 Cheers!

I have a Classic Vibe 60s Jazz bass and I absolutely love it! It has a rosewood fretboard and the neck is beautiful like yours. Inca silver with a matching headstock 😍
Oh man those older ones are SO cool! Is it actually rosewood too??
@@JonnyDibble yeah and it's a stunning rosewood fretboard! It's hanging next to my bed and that neck constantly catches my wye and makes me pick it up and play it. It's in my hands now and I'm trying to learn the chain (fleetwood mac).

Great review @Jonny Dibble ! I am about to order one myself (but LH :) ) . Do you know what strings (brand/type) come with the bass? and if you recommend to change them right away, what would you recommend for playing straigth forward rock/punk ? Cheers!
Hi! That's awesome. I don't know the stock strings, but I recommend Daddario Pro Steels 😁
The one I played yesterday came with Daddario on it. So did the CV 70’s precision I bought.
Great review, loved that you used a pick - most of my favorite bass players picks exclusively but most reviews tend to forgot that they exist ! Do you think you'll review the new Squier Classic vibe Mustang and Paranormal 54 ? I love the growl of a P bass played, and the looks of the 54 makes me think of these old telecaster basses with the single coil. I'm trying to decide which one of these models I'd enjoy the most, the Mustang would probably be the easiest to handle for me consider that I'm of a somewhat shorter stature and that I'd be transitioning from playing guitars on and off over the years to bass. Recently realized that its' really the bass lines I tend to enjoy the most, which might be why I've never really had the motivation to keep practicing guitar regularly... Anyway sorry for rambling ! Cheers.
Hey man, no need to apologise! Thanks for sharing 😁 I am definitely considering the paranormal. I'm due to review another jazz bass and It looks great! From what I've heard online I havent been blown away BUT none of the reviews really dig in with a pick and a lot of tone is in your hands! I agree re picks in reviews, whenever they do use it they often then palm mute or play really lightly 😪 Cant cover all styles i guess! Thanks for checking out my channel dude
@@JonnyDibble Hey thanks for the reply ! Looking forward to your next videos and to a potential review of the paranormal 54 !
Great review bro, i look for a squier precision bass classic vibe but i have to decide between 50's, 60's and 70's. I fell in love with 50's style but the 60's and 70's it's also pretties. Could you recommend me ?
Thanks man! So I'd say the 50s is the most "diffrrent" tonally, it has a less balanced and "raw" sound to it which is awesome! I've not played the 70s but I do LOVE that walnut finish. The 60s has a great blend of the 70s and 50s I think
@@JonnyDibble thanks man, i've got a clue for keep on searching.

Hi Neil! I haven't got the pickups yet, going to buy them on the weekend I think
@@JonnyDibble I've ordered a set of fender custom 60s pick ups for mine. Have to wait until the end of the month. Was toying with the idea of replacing the pots to cts with orange drop capacitor.
@@neilmorrow9756 Nice! I've just ordered my Fender Originals 😁 Can't wait!
I've got a VM70s when I first got it,I wasn't impressed, then I changed the strings to Ernie Ball super slinky's,and now it sounds great,I love it more than my Mexican standard
Even if you get a lemon, a quick set up can make them feel so much better! Perhaps they just don't get so much attention in the factory (makes sense when theyre producing more to keep costs down). Glad you're loving the squier! 😁
Good demo, rad sounding and looking bass!
Does it look noticably darker than a normal tortoise pickguard? Kinda wish it were black, but if it's a pretty dark tortoise that might look nice as well. Looks nice in this vid, but not in some others.
Thanks! Yeah this one is pretty dark! I've since swapped it put for a gold one though. Great bass!
I played one yesterday at a music store and I almost took it home. Looks and sounds great.
Exactly the same as me! But you were far stronger willed 😅
@@JonnyDibble well I haven’t owned a bass for 5 years so that’s what kept me from picking one up. 6 string is all I play basically. But it will happen once I find one on offer up for cheap.
Yes they can be better than Fender American, I just got a good deal on a Vintage Modified PJ for pretty cheap and that thing sounds really nice even with the stock pick ups (i raised them higher and they sound way better), I had some extra CTS pot's so i out them in and bingo even better. The weight and resonance feels a lot better than a lot of the Mexican or American basses I get to try, I actually have a Mexican P-Bass that is pretty good and that to plays better than a lot of the American basses I've tried and that one is full stock. I also have a Classic Vibe Jazz that felt good but I put some Duncan Quarter Pounders and change the tone pot's and that thing is on the same level as my other two basses.
Would you say a classic vibes is a better purchase if you plan to upgrade the electronics?
Yeah! Great bass
How would you compare this with the Vintage Modified line?
Hey man! I've not played the most recent VM line, but of its anthing like the older ones, its on par quality wise! 👍

@@JonnyDibble Because the pick ups don't make a difference, or because the Bass is not worthy?
The EMG Geezer Butler PHZ are a great choice to upgrade this P-bass. Very easy to install too.

I have one in fiesta red. It's a phenomenal bass.
Oh man those old fiesta red ones look SO nice. Wpuld love a fiest red bass!
Great video! Subscribed! I have a question for you. I REALLY want this specific bass in this specific colour. It's just beautiful and sounds amazing. Unfortunately, I have small hands/short fingers. I have read that P-Bass necks are pretty chunky and I'm wondering if I'll be able to play it. For reference, the pinky on my left hand is about 2" long. That being said, I'm not interested in playing any fancy bass riffs, I'm pretty much just a root and fifth player. Playing with a pick, wearing the bass kind of low. Kind of a Simon Gallup/Cure thing. I've read that small hands shouldn't make a difference, but if this neck is a massive tree trunk, it might. You said it wasn't a super thick neck, which gives me hope. Should I just go for it and learn to just to play it? I do love this bass. Thanks and, once again, LOVE your videos! Stay safe! Also, sorry for the long post!
Ahh thankyou so much! The neck isn't too chunky compared to some P basses! You could go for a short scale, but they have a slightly different tonal characteristic. I think you'll be okay with this one 😄
@@JonnyDibble Thanks for the response! Yeah, I have a Squier Vintage Modified Short Scale Jaguar now. It’s great, but I also really want a full-scale Precision. I think I’m going to go for it and get it. It just looks and sounds so awesome! Thanks again and stay safe! 👍
If you check the specs on this bass , the nut width is 42.8mm whilst the original '60s US Fenders had a 44mm nut and, I believe more of a D profile neck, so it was considered pretty hefty! This Squier sounds like it would be more comfortable for players with smaller hands!
Nice vid

My first bass was a Mexican made Fender Jazz, 1998 in new condition (still had the tags on it!) for $300 USD. Awesome! Which colour did you go for?

I’ve been looking at P basses for a while. I tried the Fender Am Pro II and a Squier Classic Vibe. I like the Squier. New Fenders have a bunch of unnecessary features that I don’t want and that don’t justify the price. Also the new Fender had a cheap feel but the better Squiers feel really good.
Can you still say this bass is your favorite a year later?
No, I actually sold it last year! I think that's a really a great questions!
Squier, best bass to start with, or to keep it. I have a lot of vintage basses Gibson, Ricks and Fenders and Squiers are pretty good.
I wanna buy one and carve "Gimme a fix" into it
