About the game:
God of War Ragnarök is an action-adventure game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, marking the first cross-gen release in the God of War series, and is set to be released for Windows on September 19, 2024. It is the ninth installment in the series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to 2018's God of War. Loosely based on Norse mythology, the game is set in ancient Scandinavia and features series protagonist, Kratos, and his now teenage son, Atreus. Concluding the Norse era of the series, the game covers Ragnarök, the eschatological event which is central to Norse mythology and was foretold to happen in the previous game after Kratos killed the Aesir god Baldur.

Fun fact about the journals in this game: The journal of Kratos has those Lore Markers and some extra info in there that Mimir writes in fact , so at 1:15:27 was a typo on purpose since Mimir writes with his mouth.

I really like the two takes on Fate, of Prophecy, from Brok and Sindri.
Really shows how Sindri wouldn't be the type to accept Brok's death and to go and get him back.
As well as how the other characters seems to relate to either of them in this regard.
Like how Tyr doesn't want to let Prophecy define him, but Atreus wants to fulfill the Prophecy, to fulfill what Fate deems next.
And we all know how anti-Fate Kratos is
fun fact. the squirrel is voiced by prozd (Sung won) who is a youtuber and voiceactor. i think he is mostly known for a lot of funny shorts he has made
also try hitting the chime a bunch of time. he has a lot of voice line and kinda loses his shit at the end when you ring t he bell too many times

Just a little thing: the poems you find are actually from other playstation games like the first one you found you said the poem was talking about Faye, no it actually talks about Aloy from horizon: zero dawn, when you find other poems put two and two together and you will probably find a clue about a character in another playstation games or just a clue about another playstation game. Dude this is amazing, this and Elden ring at the same time? Could this be a dream?
Mati- not sure if you noticed this while editing…but when doing your axe light runic attack that bounces around and hits several times, you keep recalling the axe with triangle BEFORE it’s done making all of its impacts. It takes a bit to retrain your muscle memory, but just wanted to point that out to you. I tend to throw that attack, then swap to the blades and continue to attack while the axe is hitting multiple times.
It was actually the jotunheim theme, both soundtracks are on bear mcrearys pages on Spotify and iTunes I’m pretty sure. Muspelheims theme is really good too

Brok was decomposed for a long time before being revived, which is why he is blue. The process to bring him back was so traumatizing that it made Sindri acquire this complete aversion to dirt.
Pretty sure Sindri told Broks skin is blue because of raw silver that he used too much without protection
@@garus9078 Yes, he said that. But he also told Atreus not to ask Brok anything about this, saying that he was sensitive about this matter, indicating the lie.
@@garus9078 Look, there's a promotional podcast for God of War 2018 called Lost Pages of Norse Myth, where one of the stories is about the creation of the Leviathan Axe and Brok's death. To save you time I will put the summary of the story below.
Fifth Lost Page: The Forging of Leviathan
Thor attacks three Giants in Midgard with the mighty hammer Mjölnir, killing two while the third one fled. Brok and Sindri, the ones who forged the hammer 30 years prior, are in their Svartalfheimworkshop, not having started the fires of their forge for a long time. Sindri voices his horror at the suffering they caused, while Brok is annoyed at Sindri's constant “yapping” and says, “what’s done is done”. Sindri argues that everyone, not just the Giants, suffer at the hands of their weapon, while Brok retorts that Sindri was prideful for appeasing Odin by making the “lightning hammer” for Thor. Sindri claims that since they both made it that it is their responsibility to undo the mistake they made. They then commence a plan to create a weapon to counter Mjölnir. Fifteen days straight of manual labor pass as a bloated black spider, whose kin Brok had crushed days before, crawls up Brok's leg (reminding him of when a malicious gadfly bit him three times during Mjölnir's creation, causing the dwarves to deform the handle) and bites him on the thigh, spreading a chill throughout his body until it reaches his heart, killing him, as Sindri catches him. Sindri then drags Brok's now ashen blue body to the realm ofAlfheim, wherein he must save Brok’ soul from the Lake of Souls. Sindri takes the glove from Brok's hand and goes into the lake, swimming deeper until he comes across his brother's soul, only to be grabbed by an undead being. Sindri is able to free himself and grabs the soul with his gloved hand and heads back to the surface. After hacking up black liquid, he became afflicted with phantom itches until he passed out. Awakening, he puts his bare hand on Brok's chest, feeling a faint pulse, after which he swears never to tell Brok what happened. Brok awoke in his bed, noticing Sindri had gained a slight twitch in his face. Two weeks pass and their weapon is finished, an axe, which Sindri gives the finishing touch of a “potent magical power, unmatched in any realm”. Brok asks what they should call it. Sindri responds that the weapon will be unmatched in an honorable warrior's hand and thus should be named after a being unmatched. They decide on the “serpent who dwells in Midgard", and thus the great weapon was named “Leviathan”.

The story just keeps getting better and better, so are the puzzles! I love how Sindri came up with all those see-through acts trying to keep the extracurricular activities with Atreus secret, very endearing!

You missed some stuff back in the mines. Please, please explore more. The side content in this game is nothing short of exquisite.
When you fight elves, look for twilight stones and use them to attack. They've been put around specifically for those fights. And if you see lots of twilight, expect an upcoming fight

Fun fact: the bitter part of Ratatoskr is voiced by Troy Baker. He voices Joel Miller in The Last of Us, Jake Muller in Resident Evil 6, and a bunch of other characters. Even Magni from God of War (2018).

Friendly reminder, you don't need to run during the Mystic Gateway loading screens. You could stand completely still, if you wanted to. I think slow walking feels natural for the viewer. The door will always appear where you were last facing when the dialogue ends. In some cases, the door appears immediately cause there's no dialogue. I've watched people turn around after the door shows up where they were facing, and they go all the way in a circle to get to it, and multiple times. I've watched a lot of playthroughs of this game, cause it is so amazing.

Mati just a few quick tips:
- when u enemies are either frozen or burning, you’ll deal extra damage if you attack them with your other weapon of a different element. AKA burn enemies then attack with the axe and vice versa
- if you continuously attack enemies with either weapon without getting hit, you’ll fill up a meter that’s on the weapon logo on the bottom left of screen. Once it’s filled you can power up your weapon to deal extra damage and elemental damage as well
Also similar to when you hold triangle to freeze your axe and can then either attack with R1 and R2, you can do the same when you spin your blade. The R2 attack after spinning your blade is OP AF

Btw, I'm not spamming, but idk if you have read my comments earlier:
If you were to read this comment, let me give you some insight on a very underrated armour set. The default Survival gear (chest, tunic and wrist). If upgraded far enough, it enhances ALL STATS at once. Wear the entire upgraded set and well, you have very balanced armour. (Plus, once all is fully upraded, you get a trophy for it)

Mati- I mentioned this in a previous video, but I know you gets lots of comments. In Ragnarok, the R3 stun attack comes in two form. It the R3 circle is RED, then stun grabbing them will kill the enemy. If it’s YELLOW, then stun grabbing them will do extra damage, but won’t finish them off. However, when they’re yellow stunned, you can keep hitting them and see it change to red, then finish them off with a stun grab. You can spend some time in the ravens practice area, and see this for yourself.

I do like it how not all God of War’s are the same. The Greek God of War is very Violent and Chaotic while the Norse God of War is more Sharp and intelligent and is a Sense of Justice.
1:06:45 what's good is this installment of the game made finding the ravens easier, now they appear in each section of the maps that you are on. if you're within the area in which there's a raven, just listen out for one usually and it will be marked off the map once you have killed them. it's less tedious i believe

Got a full movie today! WOOOOO!!! This section was really fun to play, and this map is one of my favorites in the game. Can't wait for you to explore it in the next part. Also I recommend a couple things. I know you like parrying but you should try out the Stonewall shield a lil bit too. Its pretty cool. And don't sleep on the armor you start off with in the game. It doesn't give you any secondary abilities like other armors do, but overall stats wise, its the best in the game. So I'd keep upgrading that armor. It also looks dope when you fully upgrade it.

Wussup Mati hope all has been great with your family and life in general… when in the training arena you can practice moves because certain moves need to be completed in fights a certain amount of times to get a perma upgrade… check your skills tree to see what moves need to be done to upgrade!! It helps in combat creativity a lot. I’m enjoying the series man good to see you enjoying the game again !!

I agree about the mines. When I was playing that part last year, I was not really feeling this game at all. It’s about this time when I started becoming so engaged in the story. I think you will really love it from here on out. One of the best video games I’ve ever played.

quick tip : when comparing armors, press R2 to compare the strongest versions of armors to each other.
like that you will know if an armor that sucks now will be better in the future.
Not sure if anyone has said this yet, but once you beat the game you should go back to the Raven Tree in Niflheim. A new path will be available, leading to materials, enemies, and a very special surprise

I seriously played through the whole-ass game and never once used Boy's magical shield thing. Didn't even know it existed......
I have to say, it's strange how conditioned so many people are to video game violence, especially in a series where such hyperviolence is explicitly shown to be a terrible thing, that they get mad when Tyr doesn’t show himself to be a murderous psychopath.
After going through the game several times I went to watch a bunch of youtubers play through it, and only one person didn't trash on the guy who just doesn't want to cause genocide. A real "cool over character" moment.
It's one thing if they have a legitimate argument for why it's wrong, but most of the time they're just calling him a pussy because he feels bad for killing people.
You shouldn't read too much into this, imo.
Videogames are( often) an outlet for our darkest thoughts, instincts and desires. Especially God of War games or perhaps games like GTA.
Tyr is just going completely against what these games are fundamentally about, basically he just slows us down. Thus the resentment i think.
@@kaiderhai86 I wouldn't say this is reading too much into it, it's pretty surface level regarding the series itself. But, that is basically my point. Tyr tells us he doesn't want to hurt people, and then players get mad when he refuses to hurt people, because that's what a lot of players want to see. They tend to attribute their own desire to fight as a flaw in Tyr's character. Which, to be clear, isn't necessarily wrong for the player to do. Everyone digests media in their own way, and that's their right.
I would, however, disagree that Tyr is slowing the player down at all. The game progresses at pace regardless of his intent or involvement. In fact, he tries to speed you along multiple times in Alfheim, for specific reasons, and he even shortcuts a few of the puzzles, showing utility outside of combat.
@Michaeljefferson9000 I can see your point regarding the pace. I think however this comes from an understanding our main protagonists or the player cannot have at this point in the game. Tyr just was not what everyone expected, especially Atreus. He thought freeing him would mean answers and the threat of Odin being practically resolved. Or atleast a strong ally. The game makes us feel what he needs very fast. Tyr not wanting to fight anyone or having said answers leaves him with nothing, it seems. That's why he goes to seek Freya ( pretty desperate) right after.
@@kaiderhai86 I don't disagree with the assertion of "an understanding our main protagonists or the player cannot have at this point in the game," though I will say that historically, the GoW series shows war and needless death to be a very bad thing, and is nothing new to Ragnarök.
This is an interesting topic of discussion, but to avoid spoiling Mati or any first-timers that may be reading, I'll refer to Kratos' warning to Atreus when going into the mines. "Consider your intent." Kratos here is implying that Atreus doesn't _actually_ know what he wants, really, and that he may not be ready for the consequences of his actions, should they bear fruit or otherwise. It was a harsh lesson that Kratos himself learned over and over again in Greece. Atreus, right now, seems to be looking for purpose, and this is the conclusion he's come to.
I think we'll be able to discuss more freely in the next couple of episodes, but at the moment there's only so much we can say.
