Wow, this sounds so fucking amazing live. The album version does not do it justice. Edit: I think this song is better served in an intimate setting rather than at a festival.
Such a great song, Very artistic. He starts off with hatred at the person the song is about then starts to reflect for the chorus which he signals with 'in my mind' and then you can just feel the regret and sorrow at the waste of the relationship which is simultaneously strongly nostalgic at the time he wasted- Thats an extremely delicate balance to strike and then at the ending he absolutely tears with rage again realising that he is only getting older and will not get his time back

i'm ashamed to say... i'm long-time fan of the strokes, but i mainly and staunchly only listened to the first 3 albums and didn't really give angles a chance. i'll be honest, there's some hits and misses, but i think i didn't like undercover of darkness because it seemed too mainstream pop and i judged the whole record based on that one song. i'm learning there are so many hidden gems in this album that surprised me. including this one. i love it
In my humble opinion as a Strokes mega fan, this is their worst song. Shocked to see that they performed it on Fallon. The only redeeming part is the guitar solo which nick did a good job with on this performance. Unlike his singing...
pussydestroyer445 eh, it’s just my opinion and you’re entitled to yours. I just find this track to be way too harsh and repetitive compared to every other Strokes song. It’s not very melodic, there’s nothing special about the lyrics, and overall I just don’t see this song as a showcase of any of the talent that I know the strokes to have.
nick’s backup vocals give me chills
Jicksoon for some reason i dont think they song good except on the chorus
real ed o'brien vibes
no doubt about it, it really does
@@bernaverso
His voice and Jules’ sound so good together....just perfect.

I remember seeing this episode and losing my shit 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Anyone else get the feeling they were going for a sort of Radiohead vibe with this song?
They were
interesting

Best band ever, alongside Radiohead
Those are my two all time favorites! Also, love the pfp lol
OUT OF ALL THEIR TRACKS ON THIS ALBUM PLZ NOOO.

?
I miss the days were the strokes weren't political. I jus want music
they were pretty political around angles era ngl
?
My guy, you’ve obviously never heard New York City Cops and the story behind it. The Strokes have always been political lol.
They haven’t really written any songs about politics?
I mean maybe apart from New York City cops but ya know doesn’t help ya point

Why tho? The riff is fucking badass
