This company is definitely on my list now, they seem to have taken a lot of feedback in hand and improved over the years. Somewhat distinctive with the double fullers too.

I agree with this. Romance of Men takes constructive criticism, and they definitely seem to be addressing issues.
First sword I've ever bought, mostly on your and Mathew Jensens word. It certainly looks pretty good for 150 and as a total novice I appreciate the reinforced tip and the fact the handle is solid enough to not worry about.
No issue with the saya, or the core pegs on my unit.

Are there historical prototypes for the blade of this sword?
I believe unokubi zukuri were mostly cut down naginata, and most often seen on shorter swords like wakizashi and tanto. It was a rare geometry for swords.

The swelling towards the tip is a reinforcement I believe. Allows for less snapping when you stab.
Yes, the spine swells back out there to reinforce the tip.
