I just came across your video on instagram for how to play the intro fill to Anthem Part 3, and I was like, "Finally! I found the person who will help me re-learn how to play the drums!" I was NOT disappointed after watching this first video on RUclips. Also growing up on Travis has harmed me as equally as helped me. So, at 35 years old I'm coming back from some years away to learn what I missed all those years without ever having a proper instructor. I just joined my local Canadian Legion Pipe and Drum band which is kicking my ass into learning to read and traditional grip. But yeah, all that to say, thanks for putting the time and energy into these videos. Looking forward to being a return customer! And I hope that you're good with answering the odd DM once in a while for when I'm stuck on tricky blink song *cough* the bridge in Natives *cough*.
I've been learning for about 4 months. I haven't learned rudiments yet 😕 I've just been working on playing beats and some fills and just jamming out. The other day I had a ah ha moment. I was watching someone play a fairly easy fill but when I went to do it I struggled. It was all in the sticking. He was playing doubles a few times in there. As soon as I did that it was easy. I should probably start working on them now. I'd love to see a video from you about working on the kick pedal. I'm putting a kick on the 1, A of 2, 3 and A of 4. I can do it but after a few minutes it's like my foot stops working lol. Is that normal for a beginner? Thank you
What you are struggling with is totally normal for a beginner! Try slowing down the tempo a little bit until the pattern feels more comfortable, and repetition is key! Don't get discouraged, you'll get there 🙂
@@LindseyRayeWard yeah I need to slow my roll. It's hard tho. That and practice with a metronome more. That damn click messes with my head. It's like I feel pressured to play on time and it throws me off lol.
This video was so fun to make! Let me know if you want to see more videos like this!
Now I’m wondering if I should have spent the money on Drumeo when there’s great content like this!
yess!!!!
Yes, please! You’re so talented 👏🏼🤩
Make a video about rhythmic subdivision.

Happy Easter, Lindsey!
This is a really cool video for one to learn Lindsey. You definately should make more of these with different rudiments/fills.
Fantastic. Nice break down for us novices.

Rudiments are everything! Don`t give up! Stay with the metronome, time keeping is the drummers first job.
Rudiments, rudiments, rudiments! They are the key.
Cool video
