Excellent another epic run Your routes are proving great inspiration for my own backpacking plans in the Lakes Just hope it’s not as wet and windy as you guys had on this one
These days I can just about manage 2 or 3 before tea, never mind 23 🙂 I was actually feeling cold with you both on that "moment" on Dove Crag. Seriously though, well done to both of you and thanks again for taking us with you.
To be fair, it was freezing 🥶 But opted to keep moving rather than faff about layering up. Not like there was any shelter anyway! The lower we got the better it got so worked out well 👍
Alcock Tarm looks great. I have always loved these secluded little lakes in the middle of nowhere. Can't believe you picked this run in the middle of crappy windy weather though. You're not selling it to me 😆 Loved the video though. Always do. Thanks for making it.
Thanks Andy. It’s a lovely tarn, around 1000ft above Grasmere. I just put it down to our luck. We plan our routes in advance so take whatever the weather offers at the time. Lately it’s been on the testing side to say the least. Still, it’s the Lakes and being on the fells is a pleasure whatever the weather 🌦️. That’s said, need the weather gods to be on side for Lakeland…
What’s not to love Lizzie? We’re doing what we love in an amazing place. We’re not going to let a few puddles and a breeze get in the way 😂 Seriously though, races can throw anything at you so we put days like this down to good preparation. There’s also something quite refreshing about having weather like that and the fells pretty much to yourself! Thanks ☺️
Love the challenge the weather brings. It can totally change a route and trails you’ve done so many times. Got a little cold on Fairfield and only really started to improve as we descended from High Pike. Really enjoyed it. Thanks ☺️
As a mainly solo runner myself. I can’t tell you enough how much you both inspire me. Yet another great video, as always. Those conditions looked brutal, but I love your never give up attitude 😊
Thank you so much. It was definitely tough out there again but we have an advantage running together so work as a team. We both have high and low moments but compliment each other so generally get through the iffy stuff pretty well. Appreciate your comments 👍
That was so awesome you guys! Way to hang in there and get it done! The weather was so dramatic it made for great viewing from the warmth of my couch. You had to suffer but it made for a great video. I think I better buy you a coffee for this one! Great video guys. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much, really appreciated ❤️ As for the route, it was a tough one for sure. One where we really had to bite down at times and ignore just how cold it got and the fact our hands had lost all feeling! That said, we were never in danger and always carry spare layers and waterproof pants. Just chose to keep moving through it. Appreciate you watching and commenting as always 😊
Hope so Greg. Can’t pre order the weather so best practice in all it can throw at you! Lakeland could give us anything. As for Fairfield, nothing fair about that 😂
Another rough day again certainly been bad up here hopefully will get better next time you are up. Thank you for uploading this video really appreciate it
Thanks Mike. Definitely added time along with messing around at a river crossing which was impassable safely so had to navigate an alternate route. I’d like to think we could take 30 to 45 mins off that time. Still, it was enjoyable and more about the challenge to get around it 👍
Another cracking video Gary / Cheryl love your journeys .. any thoughts on another kit video ie jackets , gloves , favourite shoes .. I remember you done one a long time back
Haha, we were getting close to be fair. Had everything we needed in our packs but wanted to keep moving. It got better as we got lower. Great day out. Thanks ☺️
Thank you, it’s a great route. Here’s a link to the route we did from Dropbox - www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/lnksqc9qa4gopf2b8c6ce/29mi-23-Before-Tea-v2.gpx?rlkey=9uqbki8bqxnmdfp5deqdrkktl&dl=0
Would be nice for views but then we couldn’t collect water anywhere we wanted, has its own set of problems! The way it’s going will we actually have one?! Thanks 👍
Haha, terrible isn’t it?! That said, can’t pre order it so we make the most of it and use it for mental training. Hopefully it’ll help come race days when the weather is less favourable. Thank you 👍
Fantastic effort. Well done you two. Best wishes out there.
Thanks very much, appreciate it 👍
Excellent another epic run

Thanks Bill! Definitely a testing day. Not ideal really though 😂
Best of luck on your adventures 👍
lovely weather 👍🫖
Thanks 😂

Good heavens, what a day! Amazing resilience, and I love the way you both stay cheerful in bogs and howling gales.

I'm trying to wrap my head around what you did there, in those conditions... 😆 Outstanding👏

Is the weather ever nice there? Damn , you have to have cheerful souls to thrive.
Haha, it’s nice every now and again 😊
What a run. So much vert and that weather. 💪💪😎🫶
Our kind of day. Love to just trudge through it. Thanks ☺️

Flippin heck! That was a tough one after your last run ! Hard core you two 😂😂 well done 👏
Thanks. Would have been great to have views but oh well, not to be. We’ll take a day like that over not at all. Really enjoyed it to be honest 👍
Brilliant again and going to be well prepared for future endeavours 👍😀

Thanks Martin. Quite enjoyed it to be honest though did get tough at times. Be a month or so before we’re back in the Lakes now 😔
See you got the weather again😉😬
Great account - what a day!
Always get the weather. We’re definitely not fair weather runners - love it!!!
Another amazingly tough run and weather conditions must have added so much time.

Above and beyond the call of youtube duty that was 😮
😂 😂 😂 Imagine what it was like when we couldn’t get the camera out!!! A very testing day which ended with a fantastic pub tea 👍
Another cracking video Gary / Cheryl love your journeys .. any thoughts on another kit video ie jackets , gloves , favourite shoes .. I remember you done one a long time back
Thanks Connor. We could do as lots of our gear has changed. Definitely look into it. Thank you for watching 👍
Hats off to you both, that was a really tough day out! I'm just left wondering how bad it has to get before you reach for the over-trousers? 😂
Haha, we were getting close to be fair. Had everything we needed in our packs but wanted to keep moving. It got better as we got lower. Great day out. Thanks ☺️
Brilliant effort! Is there a gpx available for the route? Thanks

@@TrailRunningCouple thank you, much appreciated!
I love Gary’s 0 ffs policy when it comes to wading balls deep across the rivers 😂 straight through
No point in faffing around. Couldn’t have been more wet anyway 😂 Thanks ☺️
Are you looking forward to summer?
Would be nice for views but then we couldn’t collect water anywhere we wanted, has its own set of problems! The way it’s going will we actually have one?!
Thanks 👍
This weather is just getting boring now.. I'm absolutely sick of it! Awesome guys, you've definitely earned your shit weather badge for this year!!!
