Ok the forearm tattoo that matches perfectly the shape of the guitar and completes it on the top left corner is one of the most satisfying thing I've ever seen 1:50
I've used this guitar and brought this with me through living in three different states for over 7 years and I really love it. I tried a few different models back in the day and I remember they had two of these and one sounded kind of quiet and bass-y and the other one sounded loud and bright and full. I got that one. Haven't looked back. I won't need another acoustic guitar for a while, if ever. I'd recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a nice guitar that they can buy even if its their first acoustic or first guitar ever. There are few guitar like that, where you can start with it and finish with it without feeling like you're missing out, this is one of them.
Tony, so glad you reviewed the 114ce. I have a 214ce steel and a 214ce Nylon. Both great for the value I paid. I'm saving for a better Taylor, but so happy you reviewed the 114ce! Thanks
i got my 314ce vbrace for 1700usd used for 7 months and still have 3 months warranty. a used guitar doesnt mean always be a less than a brandnew one. if you try your best finding a used nice one. its a super deal. i actually almost ended getting a brandnew 214ce. but really wanted a solid wood one. glad i waited. :)
I have this guitar. At the time I bought it, I was a intermediate player and this was my first “high end” guitar. Boy it has served me well. sounds fantastic, but I do think I’m in need of an upgrade. My budget is around $1400-1600 now and my next guitar will hopefully be my lifelong guitar
I love mine! For the price, it sounded the best to me. I've owned several guitars, including the PRS SE Angelus Custom. Not that the Angelus was bad, I just didn't like the chunky neck profile. Some people will love that about it. The tone of the PRS was different, but I loved how it sounded.
new to guitars. bought a travel fender for £120 ($160 approx) then went and played some Taylors. Omg i thought, it was amazing. I even tried some super expensive guitars of another well known brand and it sucked by comparison. The strings just feel so smooth and don't cut you, you hardly have to press down on it, so nice to play. I feel like i must be missing something because compared to all the others I tried Taylor aren't even most expensive and even the cheapest ones are amazing
I was a drummer for 20 years and gave it up about 10 years ago because I thought I'd taken that skillset about as far as I'd wanted. I then decided to take up guitar, but I was at a point in my life when I was starting to work alone in my home studio more, so I wasn't getting many opportunities to hear one acoustic guitar vice another. I have a Dean Performer and an Ibanez AEG, each costing about $300ish. I also have a Yamaha APX700, but I really didn't count that one because it's a thin body and the tone is going to suffer a little bit because of the loss of depth. The dean turned out to be my favorite and I played it for years. For the longest time I believed that no other sub $1,000 guitar could sound any better than that Dean. But then I had the opportunity to play this one at a music store and it stole my heart. Lots of bottom end but plenty of bright tones, sustain and projection too. I was completely wrong. This guitar rocks and I walked out of the store that day with one. The tuners are buttery smooth and hold their tune well. The hardware and construction is quality throughout. There are lots of great choices in this price range from, Sigma, Takamine, Breedlove, Martin and more, and its all a matter of what sound youre looking for, but if you try this one out and love the sound, I think you will be very pleased with the purchase, as I am.
I’ve got one of these guitars. Love it. Had it about 10 years now. Never realised it was sapelle wood on the back, or that it was laminate. Guess I need to save up for a hard top! Great vid thanks!
Best investment is to buy a top tier Martin with some heavy wear or finish cracks for $1500-1800 and fit it with a pickup. You will never need to upgrade
I just bought a new Taylor 110 e W . $1050 in Canada, Truly The Absolute Best Acoustic Guitar I’ve Ever Played Or Owned . It’s Electric. Excellent !!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sounds just like mine. Good projection and sustain. Same buzzing and muddled sound when strumming chords, the highs seem to project more than the lows. Sounds best when playing single notes to my ears. It is and was my first guitar, I don't regret the choice. You have to start somewhere, will be looking for something warmer with a shorter scale length in the future though.
I was in the same position you are a few years back and went with the 514ce SHORT SCALE. My 214ce was a really good guitar but I will NEVER part with my beloved 514. Tropical mahogany with western redwood cedar top. So warm and yet such clarity. Great for all styles and great to sing with. That wood combo and the GA body is also great for plugged in sound.
Not sure if anyone has cleared this up or not, but microphones need preamps in order to give any usable signal. Preamps boost microphone signals to line level, which is a jump of about 60-75dB. Mixing consoles and DAWs wouldn't see any mic signal without a preamp. If there's a mic involved, there IS a preamp. That being said, most preamps these days are pretty transparent, so they won't color the sound. Great video as always!
Still allot of dough for a laminate back and sides but he does make it sound great. The Yamaha ll16 ARE series offers more bang for buck at about the same price
i've looked everywhere but can't seem to find the names of the songs you play for testing each guitar. love them. do you have links to the names or tabs?
I have this guitar and love it! this taylor is a big upgrade from your average $300 acoustic. I compared this guitar to the higher end taylors and some other brands but I loved the sound of this and the 214ce better. definitely worth the money if you plan on buying a high quality acoustic.
I just picked up this model today with natural finish. It's my first Taylor. Been playing fenders before. Any suggestions on what I should look for next? Has to at least be an acoustic electric and have a cutaway. I read some comments here n I see a lot of haters but this Taylor sounds better than the best fender ive bought just saying
Adam Degrace Taylor 316ce is a wonderful next choice. It'd definitely be a step up in price, volume, and quality, as the 316ce is an all solid wood American guitar with a slightly larger body that's not quite as big as a dreadnought, and it still has that unmistakable Taylor sound, very balanced and bright. At that price range, you should also consider maybe a Gibson J45 or something like that, which has a completely different sound and aesthetic. But if you've caught the Taylor bug (as I have), then the 316ce is an inspired choice.
Do you give lessons cause all I need to learn is picking and strumming while picking like you did in the video. I love the guitar it's amazing and this is a great review
Nice sound and good price but here in the U.K. - a Tanglewood at this price point blows it out the water. I guess I’m America the economy is such that this is affordable but in the U.K. what us essentially budget guitar isn’t really a budget guitar.
I remember, years ago, I went into the biggest guitar store in DC. I played every guitar they had; took me all day. I ended up with the Taylor. NONE of the other guitars were even close. Easy choice. Great sound, but it ended up having neck problems, probably solved by now.
Tony, I love you brother! But, if one were to go by how any of the guitars you have ever reviewed sound through computer speakers, they should all sell for pretty much the same price. I'm sure you know what I mean :-)
I have played the PRS SE and the yare not all consistent to tone quality. I played some that were nice but most 100 series IMO sound better. the PRS has a tendency to sound a bit sterile. Even the high end ones can be hit or miss!
I played a PRS right before I picked up this Taylor...I bought the Taylor. The PRS was a pretty guitar but it had a really warm sound and I like the brighter tone of this model taylor
As far as proper acoustics go, I've owned Seagull (Entourage, Maritime) and Taylor (GS Mini, 114ce, 316ce) and when I'm just strumming around, the Seagull sounds so beautiful and should beat the pants off a Taylor. But when I'm actually playing songs on it with other people, or I put a mic on it to record it, the Taylor sounds perfect because it knows where it should be in the mix, and the Seagull needs a lot of EQ to make it work. If you love that big warm acoustic sound, great, you're not going to get it from a Taylor. But when you are on stage with two electric guitars and you wonder what happened to your tone, you'll wish you had a Taylor.
All of Taylor guitars has a similar distinct sound of that springy ringing high end. I bought a a lowly Gibson G45 and has this robust mid range..no springy high end like a Taylor...and no cut outs at the back for a plastic battery compartment. Love it....
I won a 114've at the Denver music festival in 2017 . WOW what a blessing it's my favorite acoustic guitar for doing my ministry work for the GOSPEL. THANK YOU JESUS! IT IS A GREAT GUITAR FOR ANYONE!
hey I'm looking for a dark tone good and loud with alot of chorus tone also what guitar should I get? you guys are professional and I would take your advice with no questions :-)
The 114 and 214 are great guitars. They sound amazing and certainly feel amazing. I just wonder why Taylor produces them with 1 11/16's vs. 1 3/4. Perhaps Taylor feels these are "beginner" guitars and the 1 11/16 nut width is easier to learn on? I would think that 1.75 would be easier to learn on. If I'm not mistaken, every other Taylor model (aside from the 1 & 2 series, GS) has the 1.75 nut width.
Because Taylor isn't stupid. They know how to get more money out of us. It's not a coincidence the 314s have both 1 3/4 inch nut AND all solid wood. Bastards.
I like the sound of this guitar. What is the action like? Most of the acoustic guitars I've tried come from the factory with what I consider pretty high action. Why is that? Electric guitars are typically much easier to play because they have lower action, when set up right.)
Jerome Dechant i just bought one the action is low enough to solo or what ever you want coming from just playing electrics this is my first acoustic and it is very comfortable to play
Hi there, I was wondering if you can help me pick out a guitar. That is comfortable to play in and the tone is very nice. I've heard fender and ovation have good ones and I also like this one that I just heard. It's so hard to pick one cause their are so many! Please and thank you!
one last question for you please if you don't mind what is the best parlor . couch guitar for the money I'm considering the gs mini koa . also as I live in Ireland my access to certain models is limited . I'd appreciate your opinion I'm looking for nice bright rich tone . also do the woods used in the gs mini have any real impact on the sound quality seeing as the guitars are so small
I think the GS Mini would make a great "couch guitar". Small and comfortable and very affordable. The biggest difference in sound would be the top woods.... I preferred the Mahogany top.
I am a heavy handed player with a pick. What style pick works best to not make the strings sound very buzzing? I normally use a stiff pick, but it isn't very mellow.. Ideas?
I had this guitar, returned it for the 214 deluxe grand auditorium. 114ce is a great guitar. But the 214 dlx has a front and rear gloss, Indian rosewood back and sides, with white binding. Cool fretboard inlay markers. And comes with a premium brown Taylor hard shell case ($200 value). Both guitars are the same price. No electronics in the 214 dlx. But many aftermarket acoustic pickups. Great review.
Ok the forearm tattoo that matches perfectly the shape of the guitar and completes it on the top left corner is one of the most satisfying thing I've ever seen 1:50
Man, you have a small attention span do ya lol
man that gotta be intentional right?
You’re silly!! 😂
String tattoos on his left hand fingers would be perfection.
I've used this guitar and brought this with me through living in three different states for over 7 years and I really love it. I tried a few different models back in the day and I remember they had two of these and one sounded kind of quiet and bass-y and the other one sounded loud and bright and full. I got that one. I'd recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a nice guitar that they can buy even if its their first acoustic or first guitar ever. Beautiful sound and exceptional playing! Makes me want to buy one
just got this guitar and i absolutely love it. sounds so damn good and plays as good as a few of my strats
I have this guitar as well. I really like it. It stays in tune and remains that way mostly.
Thanks for the review Tony. I just picked one up after checking out a few Martin and other Taylor models.
Gonna take some time, but I need this... Lol I love switching between blues, jazz and country and this guitar seems amazing for all that.

great choice of playing covering all the strings picking really helped thanks
Sigma for the win. I got one and I love it. Looks very simple but the sound is what really makes a guitar for me

It is only laminate on the back and sides. The top is solid
sounds great and a great guitarist
Played this guitar tonight and it was so much better than the Gibson next to it which was almost half the price more expensive.
Would love to have a 314, but I'm very happy with my 110. Taylor's are great guitars!
Wow love this guitar
I have a Larrivée OM-03r, and I think for the quality vs. price its a really nice guitar.
I got one i love it never dissapoints me....use elixer strings...great investment i paid 1200 dollars for it 😙
Best investment is to buy a top tier Martin with some heavy wear or finish cracks for $1500-1800 and fit it with a pickup. You will never need to upgrade
looks awesome
Sounds really good !

nice guitar & sound!
I enjoy mine!
Outstanding playing bro! Pretty damn good review as well.
My very first guitar. 114e. No regrets.
Still allot of dough for a laminate back and sides but he does make it sound great. The Yamaha ll16 ARE series offers more bang for buck at about the same price
What’s that little ditty you play at 3:51? I see the guy from Alamo Music plays that exact same thing on his reviews too.
i've looked everywhere but can't seem to find the names of the songs you play for testing each guitar. love them. do you have links to the names or tabs?
New Yamaha fg830 was kicking Taylors (and everyone else) butt at the guitar center the other day. Thing sounded amazing.
Ordered this yesterday.
Wich better? this or Gs Mini, i want a guitar to record my music, also, could be nice to hear your opinions and experiences.
whats the melody called that starts at 1:45?
Thank you for info . I’m going to purchase this guitar . Is the walnut version as good ?
What songs do you use to demonstrate the sound of the guitars in your review?
I have this guitar and love it! this taylor is a big upgrade from your average $300 acoustic. I compared this guitar to the higher end taylors and some other brands but I loved the sound of this and the 214ce better. definitely worth the money if you plan on buying a high quality acoustic.
Just brought the 214CE Plus home. I can't believe the sound that's coming from this 1300$ Instrument
This or the GS Mini Koa. What do you enjoy playing more?
Hey Tony, what do you think about Ibanez AEG12II? It's around $250-300, do you think it's a good one or is there a better one for the same price?
If you had to compare this to a prs se a20e which would you give the nod? The price is essentially the same and the features are very close...
Hey Guys , Im Curios Which one is Better This Or The Baton Rouge X10C/Gace Which is A solid Spruce Top , and solid rose wood back and sides
hey tony how you doin men i love the review.

Tony offers online lessons. Check out his program at tonypolecastro.com
Nice sound and good price but here in the U.K. - a Tanglewood at this price point blows it out the water.
I guess I’m America the economy is such that this is affordable but in the U.K. what us essentially budget guitar isn’t really a budget guitar.
Same in AU (& NZ) mate. US brand guitar prices here are just utter BS, Taylor included.
Absolutely the best for being new in that price point...the taylor 224c koa is to my ears the best sounding guitar period.. guess I'm easy..
does the LAYARED walnut gets better as it ages? or only when its solid?
Torn between this or the Martin road series (drs1 maybe). Thoughts anyone?
I remember, years ago, I went into the biggest guitar store in DC. I played every guitar they had; took me all day. I ended up with the Taylor. NONE of the other guitars were even close. Easy choice. Great sound, but it ended up having neck problems, probably solved by now.

How would this guitar compare in terms of sound quality against the higher end Orangewood, like the Sage? Any knowleadgeable takers?
i am torn between taylor 114ce and martin gpcpa5k. Which one should i pick?
I could not justify spending 600 more for a 3 series I'll be sticking with my 114 ce
I would have been cool if you said stuff like what material is the nut made of oh and maybe comprated the tone to a martin in the same price range
hola Tony
como se llama la cancion del minuto 3:02 en adelante?
saludos desde Colombia...
Hi have you tried the yamaha ac3r if you had what's better this taylor 114ce or the yamaha ac3r? thanks!
The video ended while I was waiting for the review part.
Can you do a baton rouge mystic review ? !!!
What is best shallow body electric-acoustic guitar for the money?
I'm thinking to chance my Martin dsr-1 for a Taylor 114ce
3:50 is there any tutorial for this riff? it's quite nice :D
Just watch his hands.
2:00 music, that was fluent or is from a music? where can i get the tab? xD
I would love to see the Taylor 114ce vs PRS Se Angelus Standard !
I wish hed do the seagull s6 original
as it is called the style of music you play ... so through Denim
hey tony do you have videos showing the licks that you playing in this video???? sounds amazing
+8323ronnie You should check out "Tony's Acoustic Challenge" RUclips channel.... ruclips.net/user/TheAcousticChallengevideos
The individual notes and picking sound great, but the open chording has a tinny sound with no depth
I really want to know the names of the songs he plays lol
seagull coastline s6 spruce qi vs taylor 114ce vs Yamaha ac3r?
Faith FKV - Naked Venus Cut or Taylor 114ce?
Great review, but for future reference I believe $1600 is a bit beyond “mid-level price”
If i want a warm sound, i'd go for martin.
Can you please list the songs you are plaiyng?
Nut width is less than inch and 3 quarters. Please confirm.
All of Taylor guitars has a similar distinct sound of that springy ringing high end. I bought a a lowly Gibson G45 and has this robust mid range..no springy high end like a Taylor...and no cut outs at the back for a plastic battery compartment. Love it....
Why no demo/review of the electronics??
What is the name of the song starting at 2.13?
What songs does he play in this demo someone please
I love my 114ce! Best value out there
I won a 114've at the Denver music festival in 2017 . WOW what a blessing it's my favorite acoustic guitar for doing my ministry work for the GOSPEL. THANK YOU JESUS! IT IS A GREAT GUITAR FOR ANYONE!
What is the difference between 114 ce and the ce -s?
Do a Cole Clark review? :)
hey I'm looking for a dark tone good and loud with alot of chorus tone also what guitar should I get?
you guys are professional and I would take your advice with no questions :-)
Try looking at mahogany guitars. Breedlove, Taylor Alvarez most companies have some model Alvarez also offers Koa as a cheaper alternative
Is Music Villa is a good site to order guitars??
Taylor 114ce or taylor mini-e? Recording purpose.
I would think that 1.75 would be easier to learn on. your talking 1/16 of an inch

+tonya.k Could you send me an email? info@acousticletter.com I would be happy to help you any way I can.... -Chad
That’s it. Can never ever play like this. Enough guitar for me. ☹️😖
one last question for you please if you don't mind what is the best parlor . couch guitar for the money I'm considering the gs mini koa . also as I live in Ireland my access to certain models is limited .
Epiphone Masterbilt DR-500MCE or Taylor 114ce.
Thanks
I am a heavy handed player with a pick. What style pick works best to not make the strings sound very buzzing? I normally use a stiff pick, but it isn't very mellow.. Ideas?
Heavy hands would equal using THIN picks. Try it out if you haven’t already
Isn't the Sapele on the 114CE-S, not the 114CE? The 114CE is Walnut, no?
I had this guitar, returned it for the 214 deluxe grand auditorium. 114ce is a great guitar. But the 214 dlx has a front and rear gloss, Indian rosewood back and sides, with white binding. Cool fretboard inlay markers. And comes with a premium brown Taylor hard shell case ($200 value). Both guitars are the same price.
No electronics in the 214 dlx. But many aftermarket acoustic pickups. Great review.
+Ryan Miller 114ce ad 214 are same price? no way
+Dirty Basement Blues yep. Both are $800.
+Ryan Miller Really? Where do see one of these available for 800???
Hey, which guitar strings would you recommend for the 114CE?
