thanks, i am a college student who is taking calculus, however, i am taking the asvab and we are not allowed to use a calculator. I forgot how to do basic math.
Lol! I have confused till now. I had done completely right till the quotient reaches 0.7. And after that I started to add extra zero to quotient as well to make it 0.705 as I have add extra zero for divisor 10 to make it 100.😂😂 The funny thing is that I have understood complex math like fourier transform, Riemann Hypothesis problem, graph theory and all other stuff related to Artificial Intelligence but faltered by basic primary school division.
Not alot of help out there for long division of a small number divided by a big number. Ie where the divisor is bigger than the dividend this helps a lot cheers.
I'm confused, trying to turn 95F to C with the equation C = (F-32)/1.8 I'm at the part where I have to divide 1.8 by 63.. Somehow it's 35C but... When I do your way I get 0.2...
You can also flip the numbers and get the percent instead to find tour answer. So if 15 divided by 20 is .75 and you need an easier way to get the answer you flip them and say what is 15 out of 20 as a percent which is 75% or .75 I find this easier and it works with any question like 20 divided by 80... 20 A’s a percent of 80 is 25% so the answer is 0.25
And same with when you times something by ten and just add a zero this works for that as well for example if 20 divided by 80 is .25 and you flip them like I said and get the percent to make it easier 20 A’s a percent of 80 is 25 or .25 if the number is let’s say 20 divided by 800 since it’s ten times bigger instead of 0.25 it’s 0.025
thank you a lot now that I can do the ONE thing I forgot how to do. I, now I have a chance passing an entrance exam of the most prestigious school in the province of Alberta
thank you so much for this video, sir. Im almost 21 and am prepping for uni entrance exams and calculators arent allowed haha last time i divided like this was in 8th grade so this was an amazing help !!
And my teachers in Elementary told me this was impossible. "You always, always always ALWAYS put the larger number first. ALWAYS. The smaller number is never first.
I've had to "reprogram" this thinking for years. On a basic level, kids should understand that something smaller can be broken up and shared by many people. For example 2 pizzas shared by 5 people is 2 ÷ 5 or 2/5. Each person gets two-fifths of a pizza. So basically, dividing a smaller number by a bigger number is just a fraction.
@@mrmaisonet tbh I probably just read it from right to left after I wrote it out in long division. So, there’s a very high chance that I did actually put the higher number first. Thanks anyway, I wouldn’t I have noticed it
I've taught for 19 years in the classroom and most kids seem to get it with a little practice. So based on my experience...many kids do understand...and of course some still struggle depending on their math foundation! Thank you for the question.😎
I'm 34 and I've forgotten how to do basic math on paper thanks to calculators. Remember kids, math is important.

That is because you typed the numbers in backwards. You have to enter 15 first and divide it by 20.
