Kim Mitman, "The Mad Poet"

This quarter (Spring, 2011) I created a multimedia project centered around Kim Mitman, "The Mad Poet." Kim is a brilliant writer and friend of mine who struggles with bipolar disorder. She uses her writing, friends, medication, and her faith in God to keep herself together. Through portraiture and interviews I gained a greater understanding of her illness and the poetry that is created as a result. - Heather Schofner

I was diagnosed w/bipolar in 05. Since been on&off meds several Xs refusing 2 fully accept it. It's hard 2 accept myself 4 who i truely am & I fear labels & judgement I AM my own worst enemy. I've been off meds 4 >yr & recently started 2 experience what I think is mixed & rapid cycles. Appt is in 4 days... I'm searching 4 answers & hope online. Made me cry & had to pause it numerous Xs because I can relate. THANKS ur video has moved me deeply! Gave me that little piece of hope to embrass....
