Phil is just as big of an influence to me as a bass player as Entwistle, Squire, Clarke and the other legends. Such an integral part of the Dead’s sound and a unique player.

I got to meet Phil one time, I was going to see Levon and the Midnight Rambles Band, So as I was talking to Jimmy Vivino, Larry Campbell, and of course Levon, I hadn't seen those fellas in awhile, So we are talking and Phil walks up and says he wants to know what the action is. Levon introduced me. I know its not much a of story but it was a cool experience, which is what Life is about
Very astute description of how the The Grateful Dead’s improv style was unique. Edward Abbey said, “If there is a kingdom of heaven, it lies in music.” RIP Phil.
My best experience was at PL&F in 2003 and i was pregnant 😊but it was Pembroke Pines in Florida.. nice intimate place, low stage and had front row seats and he was really cool and personal with us, really neat .. sweet Guy 🤘🏼🎧🎶💃Great Chan Content Otis Thank you 🙏 LetThereBeSongsToPhilTheAir🎶🎶🎶

I loved the Phil Zone. I was fortunate enough to see him perform over 300 times from 1971-95. I’ll miss him forever.

Saw this video at the time, and was fantastic then. More poignant this time. Phil was one of the most incredible and important musicians of all time.
So sad that we all have to get old and worn out. Music that brings us pleasure lives on forever.
