Imagine how happy I became when I was sent to another country during the VietNam war. Buffy was being blacklisted in the corrupt USA. In '73 as the U.S. was pulling out of Vietnam, I was sent to England for a 2 year assignment. Before I left the USA for England, Buffy's music was blacklisted and not played on American radio. Her vinyl albums were highjacked and never reached the record stores. When I arrived in England I was thrilled to hear Buffy's music on British Radio. Buffy is loved and honored all around the world. The USA is a ball of corruption. Thanks for the music Buffy! USAF Sgt. Perry. After I got back stateside in '75, I went searching for Buffy's Vinyl Albums. I bought every record I could find including some rare 45s stamped with radio station demo labels. I have a 45 rpm of Buffy's song Generation. On the label is written UK DJ '74. I was there in England listening when that 45 rpm was played on the BBC Radio. Buffy did an updated even better version more recently. It's on Buffy's awesome album Power In The Blood.

I FEASTED on all of the music of the previous 10 years that I had been too young to hear, to enjoy, so by 1975, at the tender age of 14, our IWU campus radio station, WESN, heard of ‘that little girl’ who knew SO MUCH ABOUT MUSIC she could stump music fans twice her age, that they invited me to have an hour several nights a week to dish up, on my own show, what my new and old discoveries were… I was so blessed, to have grown up during the decades (60’s thru 80’s) of the GREATEST MUSIC EXPLOSION , the talent, diversity, even cultural vibes, were almost overwhelming… Thank you, Buffy St. Marie, for possibly one of the best folk, pop, rock, whatever songs ever written and performed! It still resonates, and always will.
