- They seem to ask a lot of “what ifs?” over at Dodge. What if we build a 700-horsepower muscle car? What if we take its engine and make the fastest production sedan ever? What if we put that engine in a Jeep? And finally, why haven’t we stuffed that engine in our own Dodge Durango already? Well, for the answer to that one hold on tight.

MotorWeek hasn't changed their style in 40 years, that's some consistency if nothing else.
Thats why it's my favorite, none of that cringe shit , strait to the point with informative information.
And I love it
Love watching retro reviews. Never change motorweek
@@S8ER Retro Reviews is my favorite
Sometimes I really love the USA.
No-one does utterly ridiculous quite like you guys.
Literally king of the hill
You are damn right! MERICA!
hahaha no other country falls apart culturally for the sake of political correctness quite like the usa as well. i think that this vehicle is the perfect representation of the current US as well
'tis the nation of excess, mate.
Our country feeds a lot of other countries, we deserve the vehicles.
It's called Bat Shit Crazy 🤣😂😂 😉😉 check out the Dodge Demon 170. 1.66 to.60 . 8.91 quarter mile NHRA certified 1025 HP on E85.
Once again...the Dodge Brothers kick ass from Heaven or Hell!!!

If it’s not motorweek’s numbers, then I don’t want to believe them
If it helps, throttle house tested it at 3.3 0-60, and it won a 3way drag race with the urus and trackhawk
Actually motor weeks times are usually quite a bit slower than the ratings, and also slower than what people actually get with them. I had one that they tested, and my 0-60 was .7 seconds quicker than what they got during their test.
this is NOT an 11 second truck as i predicted when they first mentioned they were gonna waste their time building this. it has already run a pathetic and embarrassing 12 seconds in another video.
@@fallback8314 plenty of owners are hitting 11s including 11.6 posted a few days ago at Atco without using LC.
I’ll buy a repossessed one.

Take down my phone number, I'll make sure you get first dibs. You won't be waiting long.
Salvaged title too! It’s a matter of time
Did you buy one yet?
I don't know what's sadder: that Dodge is the only one making this or that GM won't make anything similar to it
The closest that GM came to this would be the Chevrolet trailblazer SS.

how can you say this vehicle does not seem " TOOO POWERFUL "?? this thing is a beast! You would not know that because your test track was effed up… Trust me, if you floor that thing on your test track you would never have said that sentence👍🏻
crap review.
@@BigEightiesNewWave Right? Hey, let's test drive this beast by putting an old fart behind the wheel, cruising a country road!
They're talking about its street driving demeanor. Good idle quality, easy part throttle driveability, smooth shifts... that sort of thing. Had nothing to do with WOT performance.
Bought a ‘23 DDHC a month ago and love this bad ass SUV
He said the x pipe is the largest on any SRT up to this point, I replaced the one on my Challenger with a fat 3" one that came on the cat back system called powerflow. Everyone gets on Dodge for using inadequate tires considering all the power some trim levels make, but is not about width as opposed to the compound that they are made of. When l got my SRT8, it had 295 pirelli P90s on it and we're fine for everyday driving. But they were no good for racing and replaced them with Mickey T drag radials, they hook nicely and is what really matters. You can do burnout after burnout with fat all season tires, but they do not get any softer and are not designed to. Whereas you can do one good burnout with drag radials, and they'll be nice n sticky
Durango Hell Cat !!!!
Loved the test drive I did a few months ago.
What a blast
Love the ridiculousness of this beast

Put a hell cat engine on everything. Lets go. Bay bay. ⚡️👍🏽
Someone in my town is already dailying one😂
A lot of owners seem to be daily driving these. It’s fantastic as a daily other than gas mileage (if you care about that 😂)
I would only make a limited number of these. These will be worth over $150,00 in years to come.
Love it!
Nice but I’m too cheap to buy one
You wouldn't get it anyway, its sold out lol
Great car 1 of my dreams
It looks pretty much like the base model body type
Kind of stealthy!
Tisk tisk tisk... the Mercedes GLS AMG 63 was the first 3 row muscle SUV...
Possibly but "Muscle" typically implies affordable
“Muscle” has never been synonymous with affordable when talking about cars. I mean Ford made a 429 SCJ and it was definitely “muscle” and not “affordable.”
@Leland Holton 1964 Pontiac GTO? 1968 Plymouth Road Runner? 1970 Plymouth Duster 340? Chevy SS396? Ford Torino Cobra?
@@RadDadisRad I think in a modern context. Muscle can arguably include "affordable "

For those who can afford to bulletproof this beauty, this would be the ultimate family armored personnel carrier
Imo, by FAR, Chrysler products are the most attractive, muscular and desirable vehicles (on average) of any mark sold in America. It's too bad that they cannot seem to make much of anything else that's good and profitable.
@ubeuonly 1 😄
Looking forward to trading in my 2020 Shelby GT500 for a 2023 Durango Hellcat. Dodge stated that their will be no limit on the number of 2023 Durango Hellcats produced.
They'll make as many as they can. I wonder if they will lower TRX numbers to manufacture the other hellcat powered cars and Durango till 12/31/23.
They can sure make amazing supercars, but can't make a (reliable) daily driver. This puzzles me.
This is my third srt I’ve owned and none of them have given me any problems. 2006 charger srt , 2012 challenger srt which I still have and now the Durango hellcat .
Put that Hellcat engine in the Chrysler 300 and now we're talking
THAT would've made more sense. or the dodge magnum.
@@fallback8314 Magnum has been discontinued for over a decade and Durango sold better.
@@lb9gta307 durango DID sell better but not because of it's performance. we're talking performance here. you would've gotten MUCH better performance numbers had they put this engine in a magnum. the sales argument doesn't work here either because they're only doing durango hellcats for one year. so in conclusion, they could've done magnum hellcats for one year also/instead, and charged about two grand more by virtue of the fact that you'd be getting better performance numbers due to the magnums lighter weight.
@@fallback8314 the sales argument does make sense. It's expensive to have a totally different car. From a performance standpoint it would make more sense. From a business standpoint, not so much.
It's too bad this is supposed to be a one-year offering! They should consider continuing it at least another couple of years after 2021! Jeep doesn't need a Hellcat powered vehicle at all! They are about the upscale experience! Let Dodge have the performance models!!!
Why ? Is a great question
There is a sucker for every seat....

2022 challenger Ghoul is that going into production or no??
How do you not know that was an April fools joke?
Here's a question; why haven't they put the 6.4 in the Ram 1500?
The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX says hello.
@@ruley73 yes, but I don't mean that. I just mean a standard truck, not lifted etc. And by the way that's 6.2
I wondered the same. Also wondered why they never tried to make a hell ram since the ram was the only vehicle they threw the viper V10 in. I figured it would be a no brainer. Even the ram R/T wasn't any different in performance over a normal ram for the last few years it was made
single cab 6M Ram 1500 STR8 Hellcat would be so bitchin and dangerous
The 6.4 makes 20 hp and tq more, no reason to
I want them to bring back a modern PT Cruiser OR Neon.
There's brand new Dodge Neons (rebadged Fiat Tipo) being sold in Mexico right now.
Mopar power baby
Ah yes. Debut it on a 12 year old platform. The chrysler way 👌
Well it ain’t broke...yet
Pfffff
just like toyota does, whychange what works
I see nothing wrong with this
Thats because theyre trying to sell as many v8 cars before emissions standards get more strict. More worried about that than a new gen of cars
Still think they made a mistake not making a regular cab shortbed HellRam
I think that's in the works
Unless its the 13+ style plus classic, it won't have the looks to back up the power. The new ones look nice, not badass.
Not so expensive as for 3.5sec, 700hp car.
Porsche Cayenne would be like +100% the price.

Whether you're a fan of Dodge or not, you can't argue this thing isn't cool.
But, as a knowledgeable car geek, like myself, I know dodge is a cheap company. Not in terms of designs, but in terms of making a vehicle that won't cost you thousands to repair every 40'000 miles; it would be best to buy these under a long term warranty.
Target market? Soccer Moms Gone Bad?
Chip shortage I bet they stop production.
What is the maximum speed on this beast?
200 on the dash
@@fallback8314 doesn't mean anything, a yaris odometer goes up to 160 and will never hit it 😂🤣
@@thefuzzypickle8277 if someone doesn't hit what their odometer says then they're choosing not to. no hellcat has less than 200 on the dash.
@@fallback8314 thats way wrong. My moms jeep renegade has a 160 speedo. Car might do 110 downhill lol. This thing probably does 175 like the trackhawk
@@fallback8314 A Yaris isn't going to hit anywhere close to 160, also I used to have a Saturn SL2 with a Speedometer that went up to 130, I couldn't get it over 116. Really excluding some sports cars, most cars won't get to the top speed on their speedometer. Also I looked up the top speed for this Durango, it's 180. A Hell cat will go over 200 but you have to remember that it's lighter, more aerodynamic and has a lower center of gravity than this.
FIFTY SEVEN HUNDRED POUNDS!

Make that deal with the devil while you can 😄
Love that line, and in fact in this day in age this might be the last gas high powered SUV EVER cause we all know electric cars are coming and I doubt Dodge will make a electric car that will be less fuel efficient. It will probably be less horsepower with the best mileage ever like 50 mpg in a electric SUV, but horsepower of 300, and 310 lbs feet of torque.
@@Paparoachfanalways Dodge will be dodge lol I don’t see them making electric vehicles not yet anyway but not bad hp numbers

damn i would love one of those... so i could sell it immediately and get a s2000 or sw20
You like girl cars better lol
not only are those "girl cars" a lot more reliable, they would absolutely destroy that shitty 2 ton chrysler on a winding mountain road. driving fast in a straight line requires no skill. how bout all the safety equipment on them newer chryslers throttle assist braking assist stability control etc the drivers not using much of his own skills to drive that overweight automatic. it takes years of experience to drive a mr2 hard on an actual track course vs that sissy dodge where the computer does almost all the work for you

@@davidmckibbin4440 chrysler made one of the biggest pos transmissions ever, decided to put them in almost everything they put on the road. After a couple years everyone knew they were a problem, so instead of fixing the problem, no recalls or anything, they went from 1992 I believe, til the 2000's, without batting an eye. They would sometimes go out at 30,000 miles, haven't seen that from chevy or toyota...all car makers have problems, mopars have far too many problems for my taste.
