    what's the point if the collision issues result in a floating pawn ?

      The "Lake" example is extreme and nanite Displacement is not meant for that. You can offset your landscape collision vita the Magnitude and Center offset controls. I've also heard of certain solutions in the work where the collision could be layer based.
